President Tinubu Reacts To Gabon Coup by References1(op): 3:18pm On Aug 30, 2023
President Bola Tinubu is watching closely with deep concern for the country’s social political stability and at the seeming autocratic contention apparently spreading across different regions of our beloved continent.

The President as a man who has made significant, personal sacrifices in his own life in the course of advancing and defending democracy is of the unwavering belief that power belongs in the hands of Africa’s great people and not in the barrel of a loaded gun.

The President affirms that the rule of law and a faithful recourse to the constitutional resolutions and instruments of electoral dispute resolution must not at any time be allowed to perish from our great continent.

To this end, the President is working very closely and continues to communicate with other Heads of States in the African Union towards a comprehensive consensus on the next steps forward with respect to how the power in Gabon will play out and how the continent will respond to contagious autocracy we have seen spread across our continent.

The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu I know will always stand for democracy. He suffered and was incarcerated for his fight for democracy and posterity is in his favour today.

The elderly recuperating Igbo man removed from office in Gabon after an atrocious third-term agenda is the immediate responsibility of the sub region of Central Africa, sincerely speaking, it's not the job of Asiwaju, Nigeria or Ecowas to intervene at first.

We have our own issues in Nigeria and ECOWAS and it's not like our Igbo brothers here in Nigeria care. Check my signature for free stuffs!

What a time to be the Chairman of ECOWAS. President Tinubu will be like "Na who send me go take this post'. However, the task is not difficult for him. He should just call emergency meeting of ECOWAS and read the riot act, insisting on the following points though he lacks the requisite credibility at home front:
- Hold credible election.
- Obey the constitution on tenure of office.
- Don't steal money from the public treasury but use it to develop the country.
- Do your best , allow the people chose the next president and hand over power.

African Union wake and smell the coffee. It is time to change the dance steps.

For those who think I am Ignorant that Gabon is not in ECOWAS, the fact is that this Gabon coup and the positive reception by the citizens negatively affects the justification for ECOWAS intervention in Niger where the citizens also received the coup with cheers.

Someone epp us calculate the reactance of the capacitor real quick! The velocity of the velocitor is reading 100 km/sec2 but the reactivity of the reactor is heading to no where! If you can understand this, then you’re old enough to understand why darkness cannot chase away darkness! Autocracy is when you force urself on people that have said they don’t want you, kinda the same with Youknowwhere & Mr. Youknowwho. grin

Good speech. Survey, feel the pulse coming from the citizens of Gabon and then arrive at intelligent reply to the menace of coup in Africa.

We don't want coup. Military should stay in barracks.

You can not rig yourself to power, then on top of that loot the country dry and still want to hold Power by all means and don't expect coup... Are you for real

The only reason coup can't work in Nigeria is tribalism ans that's why APC invest heavily on ethnic division

You're still speaking Oyinbo, Mr Tinubu. (God forbid I call a fraud President or His Excellency)

I don't pray such fate befalls Nigeria, but majority of Nigerians will be happy if such happens. That's how fed up people are of this made-for-the-elites democracy.

Start doing better, Mr Tinubu. The streets aren't smiling this time. There's tension in the atmosphere

Na your brother dem remove for Gabon.

A few years ago. Ibos on nairalander selected his re-election for a 2nd term. It even made front page. Despite the fact that Ali Obongo and his father robbed Gabon blind and impoverished the country in their combined 54 years hold onto power.

However, Chukwuabiama is great. Anything una touch gets destroyed. You prayed for a coup, and you got a coup in Gabon to displace your corrupt Ibo kinsman. grin
