Hello the gurus in the house, I'm new to investing in the stock exchange, I have a fund of 500k doing nothing in my acct. I would love to start from somewhere. Hopefully I can be shown what it takes to start earning in the stock market.

I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet but my podcast may be a great place for you to start your journey.

Start listening from the first episode and gradually build your way to the latest episodes. The early episodes discuss the basic principles and foundation of investing which is why they are very important. Forgive the poor audio though.

I can also recommend a few books that can get you started.

It's a journey. None of the gurus you refer to learnt the trade within a year or two. Be patient with yourself. You will lose money more times than you are willing to in the early stages. This is called "paying your school fees" to the gods of investing. You'll learn and get better though.

Hope this helps.

Please among the following stock brokers. Which should i go for and why?

Rencap
Vetiva
Cardinal stone
Investment one
Stanbic ibtc
Meristem
Ucap

They are all good, but I will go for

Investment One

United Capital

Meristem.

Because they provide funding to their clients.

Imagine getting loans from them to buy over 1 million units of Dangote Sugar share at N17 or NASCON shares at N13 in December 2022.

If you have good understanding of the market, you have the ability to value stocks and identify good investment opportunities, you have predictable streams of income and you are patient to hold your investments for 6 months and above.

It is good to do business with Stockbrokers that will support your hustles by providing liquidity

WAPCO is a stock to watch out for . Their ECO - Friendly Roadcem that just got launched will be a game changer in Nigeria infrastructural space and the new administration is in love with the Roadcem by WAPCO.

The expiration of the Pioneer Status Incentive made them incur a higher tax expenses in H1 , if not the H1 result would have been fantastic. The PSI is likely to be re-introduced , if government reintroduce it , WAPCO will be a very safe investment

Generally, Nigeria stocks are very very cheap , I pray this new government succeeds so local investors can smile sweetly to the bank

Could NAHCO be a good buy?

One of the non-ED just purchased a substantial amount of the company’s shares

Book 1 : 5 Rules of successfully investing . Author : Dorsey

Book 2 : Rule One by Phil Town

As regards news , try to check the forum often , good men and ladies usually drop credible information here but you still have to carry out your due diligence cos no one will be liable if anything goes south

On a comic note , try stay close to a Street called Custom cos Na there you fit get Current Price and projected price of some life changing stocks.

Good luck

I was just throwing in some humours using word play

CustomStreet and CurrentPrice are some of the names of credible people on this forum whose information has been really helpful. Others are Pa Emma ( he has wealth of experience ) , OGG ( currently on Sabbatical ) , Mycya and so on

A lot of good people dey here but try to be good to yourself by reading books , listening to business news , learning the basics like how to read and interpret financial statements, how to value a stock because you are expected to carry out your own due diligence no matter how credible the information is.

Taking your time to understand the concept of Technical analysis and fundamentals will be of great help as well . Sentimental analysis sef dey

Thanks for this. I plan to approach a stock broker for them to help me balance my portfolio as they see fit based on their expertise. Subsequently as i gather more knowledge, i can then do this on my own. Is this a wise thing to do?

The market will always be there.
I think you should study first so that even if you give someone your money, you will be able to evaluate what they are doing.
Study first and take baby steps to gain experience.

Good morning great investors, please between Morgancapital Securities and Meristem Securities which one is best for beginners
Am using both, but I prefer Morgan Capital cos of their itrade platform. You can just key in a particular amount you want to invest in a stock press the £ symbol and it will calculate the quantity nd all charges for you which makes it easy. But meristem platform is not so. You have to calculate everything by yourself
