Anywhere.

There is no community spirit and everybody is out for themselves.

As I said before, what people spend on and prioritise shows the kind of person they are.

Nigerians as a collective will rather chase a fantasy than deal with reality on ground. It's their form of escapism.

Nigeria produces the richest pastors in the world, but the general populace is poor.

I'm afraid it may take up to next three generations for Nigeria to get to Europe level.... Because dirty rough environment is "normal" in our psyche. Most people don't see anything wrong with it.

Look at market women, their environment is always dirty. Or maybe Nigerians don't like patronizing shops in neat environment cos they think dirty environment traders are cheaper... I don't know which one.

Either way a lot of people will have to die off before things can change here. Look at those iron scavenger boys... You install rail guards for bridges and next morning they have stolen it. Or shitting in newly built classroom blocks... Things like that.

There are even people that remove drainage covers to use as step for their homes

I agree with you in terms of infrastructure, human development and technology. You go to places like Marina, yaba etc where the whites resided. Those structures and roads they built are still standing but the ones we build by ourselves doesn't stand stand the test of 10 to 15 yrs and they are already collapsing. Take a look at drainage system for example ...those ones doesn't even last up to ten years and they are already collapsing and filled with trash. God really help blacks.

A black man will collect a contract of 1 billion to tard a road, believe me he will only spend about 300mil. and the rest will go into his swizz account. If a casting was supposed to use 10 bags of cement as seen on the qoutation submitted, they end up using 4 bags. This i have witnessed myself and when the agency to investigate the contract arrive, they quickly take them to somewhere private and hand them a brown envelope, and that's the end. We are actually our own problem
You said nothing but the truth.

I've been to 15 states in Nigeria my whole life, and one thing I always notice is, Untarred roads, Lack of drainage system, Lack of proper planning e.t.c

Which always make me curious, Why does everywhere in Nigeria look like it got hit by a nuclear bomb? Why? Why don't we have modern streets and cities!!

Since the inception of Nigeria, I Don't think we have built any city, And please don't even mention Banana island, It's a piece of crap!!

It's sad that only about 3% of Nigeria is actually developed and the other 97% is just straight up piece of trash!!

Short answer = We are blacks
Re: Why Do Most Nigeria Streets Look Like This? by emdis: 3:56pm On Sep 07, 2023
It's just a problem of a black man . All the African developed countries are minority white dominated with barely no natural resources.. while the black nations all over the world live in slums.. lol Jamaica that is close to America is looking like one village in Nigeria. While Mexico look great..

Do you realize that Africa would have over 5,000 countries if everyone were to have their nations.
So it is in your own interest that people not from your soil came to divide your land and scatter your foundations and the people.

It is called the partitioning of Africa in 1885 Berlin conference. Yorùbá for example got territories as far as the present Benin Republic but has been made a separate state taken by the French in the partitioning.

This is a major cause of turmoil and war we are now experiencing in the present future.

If not for foreign manipulation and desecration, why should Africans be fighting about other people's language which we must uphold (I'm talking about French speaking part of Cameroon & the Amazonian English speaking part).

Why was the partitioning decision in Cameroon not put in one place (which should be either English only or French only). But the colonialists couldn't let go, they had to divide the territories into two and afterward name it altogether as one.

And why would katakata not break out in the future as we are all seeing presently, the English speaking part are now craving independence and secession from the French speaking part.

It is affecting everyone, even you and me that I'm speaking. There was a time your father's language was referred to as vernacular in school and prohibited, maybe it still happens who knows?

It's all about making us not see anything good at all in our institution and making their decisions for us always better.

And one of the reasons I spoke about you being affected too.

Now, you talking about 5000 countries, who cares? If it's the right components. To you now, it's okay for Denmark to be 5 million in population, but Yoruba people of more than 44 million should remain in a quagmire of artificial country?

It's okay for Iceland to be approximately 500,000 but Igbo people of more than 30 million should compulsorily remain in artificial Nigeria?

Why are the Nordic countries separately divided despite sharing similar background but it's not good for Africans? Why is even the United Kingdom, our slave masters divided into 4 countries and nations in Nigeria can't return to their original positions and glory?

You know one of the reasons? It's the indoctrination affecting you, me and us all, because when we are even presented with solution, we fight it and can't even reason to trace history.

For example, there are many old documents and histories that have referred Yoruba as a country (the Yoruba country) written by whites themselves. But when such is presented to we the owners, the white man's spell in our souls fight against our own freedoms because they made us forget our homes.

Nigeria is no home in reality, it's the gathering of sleeping and hypnotized souls being caged together in a lie and matrix prison for the benefit of a few among us who do the bidding of higher forces!

As bad as coups are, would you completely blame the military of those French speaking territories? Just go and analyze the conditions they are placed under till today and tell me if indeed they had independence, of course not! They are still being controlled from yonder.

And for your information, France is a very notorious country of not letting go their colonized territories. You can go read about the Tahiti independence and war.

This is not only in Nigeria, This applies to every African countries,

But anywhere you see a Black person, There are 100% chances it's gonna be a slum

Even far out of African down to the carribeans which is mostly habited by black people, It's also sh*thole, Even the most dangerous and dirty part of America are where black people live, they call it "HOOD
it’s mostly Nigeria op
If you reach ordinary Cotonou
You will fall In love with their roads….
I do tell people around me that I’ve not seen any beautiful city or place in Nigeria that’s overseas standard cos I’ve been privileged to travel out abroad in my younger years.

The situation report of the country isn’t even funny at all

Nigerians are managing and enduring
Smelly roads everywhere
You can’t even breath good air for once

Except in your apartment

If the British are still ruling Nigeria it would have been better than what we have now.
You are very correct,
I was telling some people recently that the solution to our problem is not for military to take over, because the military have done worst in the past,
If it's possible for British to rule us, we will develop fast, though they will steal from us but they will use the remaining judiciously for our development.

It starts with the little things people see as "normal" in Nigeria:

- You drink sachet "pure" water and dump the sachet on the road like a retard.

- You crack boiled groundnuts along the road, chewing and leaving a groundnut shell trail like a bush animal.

- You cross the express running like a confused chicken when there's an overhead pedestrian bridge few metres away from you.

- You bring out your wa.nker and piss in the nearest gutter like a baboon when you're pressed...

- And many more.

It's not magic - We are the streets.

I have a theory.

The way any place (street, city, room) looks is a direct expression of the mind of the people that built it and live in it.

In other words you’re seeing a direct image of the collective mind of the inhabitants.

When the city builders are professionals, the inhabitants are blessed to live in what is in essence, the minds of the construction professionals.

End of theory.

Black Africans have low IQ. We can choose to deny that, but facts are facts. The Black Africans lack innovation. That explains why Nigeria hasn't made appreciable progress since 60 years after independence.

Humanity is meant to live in the amalgamation of individual realities created by the most highly developed mind or group of minds in every field. Etc your car should be serviced by a mechanic with the most highly developed mechanically inclined mind, and that mechanic’s mind should become the industry standard.

When you look at the degraded and poorly trained, indisciplined minds parading themselves as professionals around us, the reason for the state of Nigerian cities becomes very clear.

@op,

Nigerians/Africans are very intelligent. In terms of book intelligence and smartness, we can compete with Asians and whites. See the incredible things Nigerian professionals are doing abroad as evidence.

The problem we have is our MENTALITY. We have one of the most flawed mentality of any group of people. I don't know if it is the way God created us or something we developed but our mentality is very flawed.

We have a mentality of "dominate and oppress" others so that we can be worshipped and that makes us fulfilled. The average Nigerian mindset is about making big money, building mansions, building hotels, buying cars, spraying money at ocassions and oppressing the less privileged. Anywhere he goes, people hail him, call him big man, he "blesses" them with some change and they worship him. Ask yourself why is it only in Africa people spray money on someone? If you want to give someone money, why not give it behind the scene through envelope or bank transfer? They won't do that because that show off and getting that glory from people is what we live for.

Despite the complain of things not working, the general progress of the society does not matter to us genuinely. What matters to us is what I explained in the last paragraph above. If you pick 100 random people on nairaland and give them 100m each to develop their village or community, chances are at least 95% of that 100 people will take out some of that money for their personal mansion. Even if you remove the current government and pick the president and ministers randomly from the street, the result will be the same.

Because of our flawed mentality, the country is now in a state of "class war". The elites will never want the gap between them and others to close in other to maintain their "god" status in the society. For example, if the streets of Ajegunle has good tarred roads, underground drainage, 24/7 light and water, ok public schools, how then will the "big boys" in Lekki and other elite estates in the Island who have all these things differentiate themselves from the poor people? Everyone will start becoming equal and that equality is not what an average Nigerian wants. He wants to be on top while others are under. Make no mistake, the poor that complain now will automatically start oppressing others once they become rich. They won't try to make things better for their former poor colleagues rather they would want to use them as tools. It is a cycle.

No matter what you think, the present state of Nigeria and Africa is a deliberate effort by the elites to maintain their status. It is not a problem of government, taxes etc. Even if they collect more taxes, they wouldn't use it for anything cos their focus is not in having beautiful environment etc, their focus is on getting richer so they become more powerful and oppress others. The more money you have in Nigeria, they more powerful you are and can be worshipped.

95% of the population don't care about beautiful environment and the remaining 5% with a different mentality that would care can't get into leadership cos they are outnumbered. For a country to work, you need a majority of the people to have the right mentality, unfortunately Nigeria or Africa dont have that at the moment

I don't know how our mentality can be changed to be frank but I hope one day majority of the people will start seeing life like Asians and whites do so that we can develop.
