The price of this milk is now #89,500 Dano that is locally produced is #87,000.

Which Dano?
Dano FULL cream milk powder? Or
Dano FILLED cream(fat filled)milk powder or
Dano SKIMMED milk powder? Photo attached: purple highlight

100g of Dano filled milk powder for example, has about 28grams (palm oil) vegetable fat . source https://dano.com.ng/staging/dano-cool-cow/

100g of Dano full cream milk powder for example has about 28g of the grass fed animal fat source table https://dano.com.ng/staging/dano-full-cream/

100g of Dano skimmed cream milk powder, Danoslim for example has only about 0.5g of the grass fed animal fat

https://dano.com.ng/staging/dano-slim/
Op from your photo, its like you bought Filled milk. Itz not recommended for growing children. Its good but the Best for growing kids is WHOLE MILK/FULL CREAM MILK normally 3.5% Animal Fat

Animal/cow Dairy butter animal fat not substituted with Vegetable fat (eg coconut oil/coconut fat, Rapseed fat, palm oil, etc) as obtainable in filled milk aka fat-filled milk.
Types of fatfilled milk varies eg

26%; 28%; 30% 32% Vegetable fat, etc.

For ADULTS not growing; full cream milk(typicaly 3.5% animal fat) aka whole milk ( not recommended. Cos higher SATURATED FAT and Cholesterol and raises LDl.
Skimmed milk /milk with reduced fat say 1% Animal fat or generally less than 2% is okay for adults. DANO even has skimmed milk ranges eith 0.3% fat all less than 1%.

The animal fat/cream is simply yanked off in skimmed milk and not replaced with unnecessary Vegetable fat as in filled milk.

Reduced fat milk is around 2%. Nofat/skimmed 1%range or lesser.

Full-fat milk/whole milk is considered to be a less healthy option for Adults compared to low-fat/skim milk. 3.5% whole millk is not advisable for Adults & must be consumed in moderation by adults.

adecz:

FOR CHILDREN: it's always better to
buy "Full Cream Milk" not "Filled Cream Milk"
which you have bought.

⏩Full cream Milk/whole milk is milk from which the cream has not been removed is called 'whole milk' or 'full cream milk'. “It contains more than 3.5% of fat; it is highly nutritious and provides the essential nutrients required for growth and development.

⏩Filled milk is any milk, cream, or skim milk that has been reconstituted with fats, usually vegetable oils, from sources other than dairy cows.

Try to understand what is happening here.
For the past 6 or 7 months the price of food has been going up steadily because in the past 6 months the value of the Nigerian Naira against the US dollars has fallen drastically and the prices of these foodstuffs whether they are imported or locally grown will rise because of inflation. This inflation has destroyed the purchasing power of the naira.
The Nigerian Naira has been intentionally devalued by the Nigerian government for the fast 3 years against the dollar but in the past
7 months it has become worse than ever before in the history of the Nigerian economy.

https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=NGN

If you check out the link above, the chart will give you a visual proof of what I am explaining:

Has long as the Naira is not worth much, inflation will continue.
How much money do you spend on food every 2 weeks?
And how long does that food last.

This is intentionally done by The Nigerian Government and their internationalist controllers. Now add massive government embezzlement schemes that impoverish the population to that and you have an economic DISASTER.
How many Nigerian government workers have not even being paid for the past 3 or 4 months?
How many people are leaving schools this year and wont find jobs? How many have been unemployed for months and years now?

Nigerians went to the poll to vote 8 or 9 months ago this is the result of the elections. Nigerians voted for their economic destroyers and all they can do now is complain. 4 years from now Nigerians will vote again and make the same mistakes.

In 2015,this milk was sold for 28k or less than because then,we used to share it among our colleagues, and it's either I buy this one below,Lactorich or Dano.

Mathematically,it is cheaper for me and my house than buying refill at #2,200 which may only last me one day or at most two days.

So,yesterday the one I bought in early March this year got finished and I and my wife decided to buy another one that would at least last for another 5months or thereabout.

The price of this milk is now #89,500 Dano that is locally produced is #87,000.

I can see why the poor has been relegated in
Nigeria and their voices have been smashed and dimmed. Ask the man on the street about the economy,he would say,e go better as if has ever been better in this country.

If we don't put the right people in govt, the poor and the needy would continue to wallow in abject situations.

Naija my country.

How many bags of milk for that amount?

dairyguru:
Powdered Milk is a manufactured dairy product made by evaporating milk to dryness. One purpose of drying milk is to preserve it; milk powder has a far longer shelf life than liquid milk and does not need to be refrigerated, due to its low moisture content. Another purpose is to reduce its bulk for economy of transportation.

Have you ever wondered why some milk powder brands cost more than others? I’m sure you have. It is also likely that you have come up with possible reasons, from “Nigerian made” versus “imported” to “the cheaper one ‘contains’ less, and left it at that.

Of course, there’s a lot to be said for quality. There are brands that arguably have earned the right to demand more money because they have put in above average levels of quality control and nutritional value. Most people who buy these brands do so without complaining because they know what they’re paying for and they get their money’s worth.

However, the one MAJOR difference between milk powder brands that I never considered before last weekend, is that not all “powdered milk” is the same- and it doesn’t have to do with the company. The different types of powdered milk are explained below:

1. Full Cream Milk
The full cream milk, also known as whole milk is the milk in the form we get them from animals. It contains no added fat from non-dairy cow sources. Also, the dairy fat content is not removed. Full cream milk powder is creamier due to the higher 'dairy fat' content, it also tastes better, is more nutritious, and generally costs more.

2. Filled Milk
Filled milk also called fat filled milk is any milk that has been reconstituted with fats, usually vegetable oils, from sources other than dairy cows.Filled milk powder is not as creamy, not as nutritious, and it’s generally cheaper.

3. Skimmed Milk
Skimmed milk is milk from which the dairy fat (or cream) has been removed. it can provide the the nutrition contained in the full cream milk but without added fats and calories (reduces the risks of cardiovascular problems).

So next time you’re at the store, know why you’re spending more or less. Are you consciously paying for the actual product you’re getting, or are you just influenced by packaging and advertising?

The list is not exhaustive but these are the major ones we see in the market. feel free to add more

Full cream milk is what is recoimmended for growing children.

it is HOWEVER not advisable for adults. AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION AND FDA DRUGS ADMINISTRATION PEGS CONSUMPTION OF SATURATED FATS FOR ADULTS NOT TO EXCEED 20G IN 2000CALORIE DIET ., the American Heart Association recommends that most people consume no more than 13 grams of saturated fat per day. FATS CONSUMPTION MUST BE RESTRICTED TO MONO AND POLY UNSATURATED FATS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
SATURATED FAT RAISES LDL BAD CHOLESTEROL AND INCREASES RISK FOR STROKE AND HEART DISEASES,.

Each cup of WHOLEmilk/FULL CREAM MILK has 7.9 grams of fat. More than half that amount (4.6 grams) is from saturated fat.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends consuming about 3 cups of dairy products each day. However, fat-free and low-fat products are recommended over full-fat products FOR ADULTS, since full-fat dairy typically contains large amounts of saturated fat.

If you were going to drink 3 cups of full-cream milk — your full daily allowance of dairy — you would be consuming 13.8 grams of saturated fat. By the standards of the American Heart Association, that's more than your entire daily saturated fat allowance. By the standards of the FDA, that's about 70 percent of your maximum recommended saturated fat allowance.

p.s I do not use vegetable oils not recommended by FDA in cooking for my family. I am NOT BASEED IN NIGERIA BY THE WAY. i USE UNREFINED AVOCADO OILS in meal prep for a healthy family. Its richer in Unsaturated fats asnd better adapted for high temperatures asnd has a higher smoke point than traditional vegetable oils. Sometimes i used unrefined olives rich in unsaturated fats, in lieu of traditional unhealthy vegetable oils .

I dont even consume low fat milk or skimmed milk. I go for probiotic fermented milk.it is healthier and more readily available over here than nigeria. I am also a big fan of greek yoghurt with 0percent sugar

A big sachet of cowbell is 2,200 and it weights 1kg.. this bag is 25kg x 2200 = ₦55k. And he said he bought this for ₦90k

That is apples and oranges

In the grading of milk

Peak
Dano etc
Cowbell is way down there.

I tried cowbell like 20 years ago because it was the cheapest of the powdered milk brands. It had issues dissolving as I remember. Only good for licking.

You can only do a like for like comparison. Price of 1kg of the equivalent Dano. What is supposed to happen is the larger the bag of any good, the cheaper it is per kg/litre/measure.

Though Nigerians can be weird in arbitrary pricing of goods they are selling.

Stop poisoning your children with synthetic lactose.

Feed them any food grown on the land and also raise livestock for food or simply ensure that your meat is killed fresh and eaten with life-force to increase your mortality.

Synthetic lactose contains certain ingredients found in detergents. If you can read, i see no reason you do not read these things online.
I don't understand the "increase your mortality" part. Can you break it down sir?

When l travelled to Europe, fresh milk is cheaper. I always bought llitre of milk . In contrast, Dried milk is more expensive. I saw the lkg pack but it was not worth it at all for me .When l know how many litres of fresh milk l can buy , for that same $ amount for tiny powdered milk costs.
Dried milk is more ezpensive because it has a longer Shelf life. Does not need to be Refrigerated unlike fresh milk .

Fresh milk is more common in Europe than dried. But nigeria of those good ol days pre 2015 pre shege promax . 10naira u don see dried satchet milk buy wheras u have to shell out more for satchet peakmilk.

Europe and Yaki has the market advantage of industrial/mass production of farm animals and birds just like poultry using High technology for large scale industrial farming.Their cattle is not even free range nomadic naija style but in Ranches. Every thing having advantage has disadvantave.

I was warned not to crack chicken bone in Eurpope cos its bone of industrially reared chicken. Risk of cancer. All the chemicals in raising them fast has residue in the fluid of industrial chicken bones
Wheras home grown free range organic chicken one can chew the bone.
Abroad one has to double check cos their cattle meat might not even be from organic grass fed cattle.
Everything chemical chemical pesticides life in high tech world .
Wild caught fish is very rare. Fish chemically reared in overcrowded artificial ponds with pesticides. Wild caught Salmon is rare.

Industrial production stuff are more available and cheapeer . And food demand of whole developed nation is more easily met without importing too much. [font=Lucida Sans

Nigerians like fresh milk na. But naija na fulani herdsmen get more cattle than industrial large scale ranches.
Not easy meeting fresh production quota. It is more economical for producers who lay hands on the fresh milk , to produce stuff with longer shelf life. Light nor even constant like that sef. Erratic power supply. More Dried milk is better in the target market

My 50 cents.

Reasons why they are always down with one cancer ailment or the other..

come down to Africa or anywhere they can gets this natural feeds and whatnots or prolly just import them .

How on earth do their food agencies agree to all of this for human consumption..
