Me as a Man, I can be on date with someone and still keep pressing my phone intermittently.

I was travelling alone in my car and i needed company. So I stopped to pick a lady who appeared to be in desperate need of a lift to the same dstination. I statred a conversation she was busy pressing her phone. The volume of he phone was high em=nough to distract my driving and initally though t was a sound from my engine.
Thaat day I regretted doing thta becuse she was useless and could not make a conversation. I got home and told my wife. She just laughed it off.

I think that's not enough reason to chicken out , sometimes it may not
be forming acts, could be an important update she need to attend.

That's how to talk politely, you are not forcing her to drop her phone, neither are you begging for her attention. Putting the message like that will still give you control of the date as a man and also give her control of when to give you her attention while respecting each other.
