PoliteActivist:
You already exposed yourself. We already know you're NOT in Chicago. It is psychology. Anybody in Chicago won't be waiting for a bet on Nairaland - something we know is impossible. You've been tricked into exposing yourself grin
PoliteActivist:
Whereabouts in Canada are you?
The way you said "I live there" instead of "I live here" Hmmm
I DON'T KNOW YOU, and you don't know me.

I never said i live in Chicago because i don't, I am not in Nigeria .... I have told you that if you get mind, put your money on the table I will call you video call, I will pin my location and go and snap a bus-stop ... i will call u video call ... or better still >>> i will go to a local college close to me and call you from their sign post ...

I feel like proofing a point to you ... BUT put the money on the table sir/ma

I meant Canada and you KNOW it!! My friend you are NOT in Canada. We already KNOW that! Anybody in Canada won't be doing all this too much talk. They'll simply prove it by photo, then demand payment. We KNOW you are NOT in Canada! You are not fooling anybody.
otunbadan is a fraud!
He is fraudulently claiming he's in Caca when he is NOT!!

My bros that was hypothetical, this is my REAL life. What would be your advice as a well-traveled guy?

With what I know now I will stay in Nigeria with the 40k, are you kidding me. Even if I don't know anything I will still take the 40k.
So that was hypothetical. This is real life. And given Tinubu, removal of subsidy and all, do you still feel same?

pansophist:
40k USD sef too much. Some are looking for flights just to go back. Go to Milan, around the central stations with lots of African refugees wasting away, or Greece where they sell CD's to tourists, or even Biljmer Arena in Amsterdam, or Germany. These are places I know firsthand, don't know much about the Uk, only visited but I still think it is similar.

I repeat, not 40k, just buy a flight come dash them like 5k usd, then off to Naija de go. Listen to sukkot, he knows what he is saying. If you dont want to end up unfortunately abroad, never come as a visitor.

How you enter determines how far you go. At a minimum, enter as a student, better on a work permit, best is pr, but the VIP of all is to be married to a citizen and enter as a spouse.
In other words I should take the 500K to 1.5K job and forget Canada. Well, I can assure you I'll never forget Caca. Canada, oh Canada!

$40k is about 17,653,200.00 Nigerian Naira. Nigeria economic outlook will swallow that money within one year based on the sky rocking inflation. No going back to Sodom...
What foresight you have. Same $40K is now N40M barely a year later. BUT doing '"hustle" jobs in Canada when I have a cushy potential 1.5m+ job here... tough choice

Bro when they say CA is short of workers, it does not mean anybody can just go and take up the job. You have to have the right credentials and specialty. Mind you, our university certificates can only get you into their schools but not give you job directly. Also they give preference to Americans, Europeans and Australians
How about tech? Do you know how that applies to tech?

I told my uncle, in 2019 when I arrived, I said, I relocate back to Nigeria and retire when I make £50k, he looked at me with a smile; and he told me the cost of his rang rover, it was £85. From that moment he didn't have to tell me to growup; get sense and aim high. You can easily save £10k/,year if you want to.
You know my answer.
Actually I'm not sure your answer. Could you elaborate?

If you think people still leave Nigeria because of only money, then you need to have a rethink.

What good is $40k to a dead person?
So you saying leave right now. Forget the potentially 1.5m job

Well, I can always go to aboard for vacation, I no fit leave naija go Dey struggle.

In 5 years , I’ll have enough to travel overseas and enjoy my life with my family.
Nigeria is the best place to spend and enjoy money .
You know, I agree with you to some extent. But that only applies if you don't already have your plane ticket and Canadian dreams!

I will miss ordering from Amazon, hearing much less honking on the roads, not having a speed dial police number, having a stable job, fewer dust on the streets, more polite people, fewer places to run to and have a quick number 1 and all that

Every country has their issues but Nigeria issues are too basic and frustrating for the average person who has lived abroad so it's a No No
So in your opinion it's better to abandon the potential 1.5m job and go "hustle" in Canada. Well, people actually living there say otherwise!

Even in Brussels, the capital of EU, commissions, Parliament, NATO etc, the poverty in there is so much.

At Brussels noord station, homeless people scattered every where with tents, living outside in the cold for years, and the EU can't help them but instead pump billions of dollars to Ukraine to fight a war it will never win.

And this is not just Brussels, it's like this in many parts of the country, and also in many countries
Yeah, the grass only SEEMS greener on the other side

But isn't suffering still suffering no matter where you do it??!

It's really myopic to think living in Nigeria is a mistake? Are you aware that the richest Nigerians live in Nigeria and didn't make their money abroad?
Living in one's own country will never be a mistake for various reasons. Even your children may be lost to America or Canada, never coming back to Naija

Why would someone be in this terrible place where the citizens continue to willingly vote corrupt and evil politicians when I can stay over there, hustle and get a job paying me $100k a year.
$100K a year. I wonder how many people in Canada make $100K US a year

Even during war, Ukraine's fire service, medical team, road and rail network, and electricity is still far better than anywhere in Nigeria.

The moment you leave Nigeria to say uk, us, canada, Australia, new Zealand (very under rated); you will expand in knowledge. If you notice, most of these countries send their own people to various countries to go expand their wisdom.

So, if you have the chance and a plan, go.

Over 45 or 50, it will be hard to fit in, train for a career, and go through the rigors of survival in a new country; except you have support.

Portugal, Bulgaria, Greenland, Iceland, new Zealand, and places like these are underrated. Language Barrier in some of these places, but these are great places that can fast track your success.

Without all that, you can still survive in Nigeria.
Well said. New Zealand is indeed very underrated

There are Nigerians in US earning over 100k per annum
Nigerians working for good companies in US with a good degree may receive 30 to 40k in bonus alone.
Investment bankers earn within 200k or more in US
Yeah, but that's investment bankers. How many Nigerians are into investment banking in US??

There is a reason your elites have their second homes abroad and have second passports. All their families are not here despite their millions of dollars. Nigeria is their workshop, they go home after work.

Naija is a crime scene and a trap. And if you still talking about naira earnings, you have no future.
I don't know... all these billionaires and millionaires we have here are into naira earnings...

Nobody should fool you, the multi billion dollars being remitted annually are by Nigerians abroad. The bulk of property sales in Lagos is purchased by Nigerians abroad.

It’s not all doom out there…. No one should fool you. Otherwise we would have seen droves of Nigerians abroad return home.

Look around you and count the number of Nigerians abroad that returned to settle…. The answer is right there
Not necessarily. Many Nigerians get rich right here in Nigeria

Listen, the guy did not mention Germany, Netherlands or Schengen countries ok. He said if you package yourself very well, seek asylum in Canada,US or UK which I'm very sure the guy is right. How can you compare English speaking countries asylum to non English speaking countries. In UK the government don't put asylum seeker in camp for your information. I once lived in Amsterdam in Netherlands i know what I'm saying before relocating to Birmingham city in UK. If you wanna seek for asylum make sure you get visa and seek the asylum in the first country you arrive and better best seek it at the point of entry believe me UK will grant your asylum if you package yourself very well.
In Canada you don't even have to do that - that is, you don't have to get visa and seek the asylum in the first country you arrive. See below

Sorry bro but when you ‘make it’ abroad, are you going to relocate back to Nigeria eventually say like in your old age.
That's another question we don't ask ourselves. And will your children ever return or are they lost to America/Canada for good??
