It will not affect it if you package the application well. I am a Canadian citizen too, I have sponsored 2 of my siblings and the 3rd sibling’s application was submitted Oct 5. I did the applications all by myself too.

What I did is, if the person is a minor, I use my Canadian SOA and if not, I pay first year tuition and deposit living expenses into their account.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. Your response is great! I hope you don't mind if PM you.

The documents you submitted and the SOP didn't reflect your intention of returning back to your home country you might want to work on that before reapplying

Hello to the gurus in the house.

Questions
i got this mail after applying for student visa . i would like to get an advice on what to do next

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit
application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet
the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and
Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can
demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be
accompanied by a new processing fee

What was the reason for the initial refusal?

I was refused study visa on the 25th and I'm trying to reapply again and also tackle the reason for the denial. Please is this a good idea?

Well , even people with large opening balances have been denied despite having good account statements for one year. The key factor is how well the person can justify the funds in their account. Even if they have a good opening balance and a substantial amount in their account for closing, if they can't explain the funds, it's likely considered insufficient. This applies to everyone. Also, have you ever come across a case where someone was denied due to a low opening balance? Probably note from GCMS NOTE stated

There have many instances where GCMS notes have stated that "account had preexisting low balance and high closing balance within a short time". So, applications have been rejected for that reason especially when the applicant is unable to explain the sudden change in balance with documentary proof. However, when and if an applicant has such case, the onus is on the applicant to explain the transaction history and provide documents that back up the explanation and pray to have a kind VO that will ascribe favourable/positive weight to the explanation.

Sorry for the refusal.

What is your profile and what was the reason for the refusal.

Ideally, you should request for your GCMS notes to know the actual reason for the denial.

Study News Release
News release
October 27, 2023—Brampton, ON—Canada is a top destination of choice for international students, thanks to our high-quality educational institutions; our welcoming, diverse society; and the opportunities to work or immigrate permanently after graduation. While international students have contributed to life on campuses across the country, they have also experienced some serious challenges navigating Canada’s International Student Program.

The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today announced plans to implement several measures aimed at strengthening Canada’s International Student Program and at better protecting genuine students from fraud. These measures include the following:

Starting December 1, 2023, post-secondary designated learning institutions (DLI) will be required to confirm every applicant’s letter of acceptance directly with IRCC. This new, enhanced verification process aims to protect prospective students from letter‑of‑acceptance fraud and to help them avoid similar problems that some students faced earlier this year as a result of fraud investigations. It will also ensure that study permits are issued based only on genuine letters of acceptance.
In time for the fall 2024 semester, IRCC will adopt a “recognized institution” framework to benefit post-secondary DLIs that set a higher standard for services, support and outcomes for international students. These DLIs will benefit, for example, from the priority processing of study permits for applicants who plan to attend their school.
In the coming months, IRCC will complete an assessment of Post-Graduation Work Permit Program criteria and begin introducing reforms to better calibrate it to meet the needs of the Canadian labour market, as well as regional and Francophone immigration goals.
We recognize the significant social, cultural and economic benefits that international students bring to Canada, and for those benefits to continue, we must address challenges to the integrity of the International Student Program. Through these measures, we are taking action against nefarious actors who have preyed on genuine students for financial gain by identifying every fraudulent letter of acceptance soon after it is submitted. Institutions that demonstrate strong support for international students will be recognized and their applicants will move to the front of the line for processing, and we will be able to better select and retain those students that are best suited to meet the needs of Canada’s economy and immigration goals. These important reforms mark the initial changes identified through the review of the International Student Program, as well as the broader engagement initiative, An Immigration System for Canada’s Future. This includes our ongoing work with institutions, provinces and territories, and organizations representing Canada’s colleges and universities to better detect fraud and uphold the integrity of our immigration programs.

Quotes
“International students are talented, bright and deserving of a positive experience as they pursue their studies in Canada. We will continue to improve Canada’s International Student Program by protecting students and weeding out those who try to take advantage of them. Whether an international student stays and works after graduation or returns home, we want their time as a student in Canada to have been beneficial to their growth and aspirations.”

– The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

I have watched and followed you closely on this space for long. What you do here is to discourage people from travelling to Canada by saying the negative side of Canada to people. All these while you've been writing rubbish and chunning our rhetorics and narratives to put fear on intending 'japarians' yet you are still in Canada. What is wrong with you? Stop discouraging People. Don't advice us. When we get to the river we will cross it. Nigeria is already a failed entity. Rest Mr Man.

You are among Nigerians who hate the truth, you only believe in your pastor. When you get here like most others do , you will not come back to this forum again.many Nigerian students who got here will never come back to this forum to share their experiences. One is still busy looking for common menial jobs for the past 3 months. They won’t have time to come here anymore! After immigration minister’s announcement yesterday, people on pgwp flooded his page. You should follow important pages to read more on what’s going on and not what you heard . Goodluck

There is currently no Biometrics appointment date in Lagos and Abuja. I have submitted my application but still searching for appointment to give my Biometrics.

Any proven idea on how to go about this?

Time is of great importance. My resumption is January.

Hi Ozone. Just wanted to chip this in. I think we underestimate the power of sending web forms. In my case, after waiting 4 weeks, I sent a webform, my medical was updated to passed. A week later, I was impatient and sent another webform. Eligibility started the next day and PPR the next. I belive IRCC are dealing with volumes and sometimes applications get forgotten in the matrix. Although yours is still early days. Wish you all the best!

You're applying from Nigeria, so it has to be either VFS Lagos or Abj. You can't use the VAC of a different country especially when you don't have status there. I stand to be corrected.
