Hi guys, please i need your input in this. First of all, i apologize for my lengthy post. I moved into the uk last year april as a student dependent, i started working in may and have been earning a minimum a minimum wage with over time and the littlest i earned is 1900 including over time which enabled me clear my wife's fees and pay some bills added with the little she earned working 20hrs. In the long run she got pregnant and went on maternity leave a month before we welcome our baby in December.

She was on maternity leave, earning maternity pay which supports me while i go full blast working overtime with same earnings not more than 1900. She went back to work in August and now on 37.5hrs full time as she has finished doing her masters.

Now with the responsibility of catering for our child who is now 10months, we had to adjust with our work patterns (Thank God for giving me an understanding manager and hers too) by picking shifts when we like to help us on who stays home with the baby while the other go to work. I had to let go working overtime as i work on days when she's not working and she works on days when I'm not working.

This has really impacted on my earnings and pay as i now earn the basic pay of 1800, and with tax, ni and pension deducted i am left with about 1600 sometimes lower if i don't work night shifts as we earn enhancement working night shifts. My wife is very supportive as we split montly bills, spendings and all ( I know that this should even make it easier as she earns more now) , but the issue is lately the cost of living has gone up, our rent was increased, energy bill has gone up as we had to sometime put on the heater cos of the baby, his feeding, clothing and all his needs.

The bills are choking and i can even hardly save. My wife on the other hand contributes her quota on a 60/40 basis as i contribte the most as the olori ebi even though we earn same salary monthly. I have racked in credit card debts and all. I have had to cut down alot of spendings to adjust ( and that includes me not buying orijin bitters or going out with friends, going to the barber, i cut my hair anyhow i sabi, and some needs....lol). What can i do in this context as i am considering getting a new job that can pay more on same hours, but I don't know if the manager will be as understanding as the current manager i work with.

In addition to the various advice that has been offered on earning more, I think you should also look into PROPER tracking of your monthly expenses so you can correctly identify what are the biggest/unreasonable drains on your finances at the moment and tackle those pieces.

A couple with one child earning a combined net income of at least £3,200 shouldn’t be struggling by any standards. You should definitely look to earn more, but the reasoning for this should be to have bigger disposable income, increase savings/investments or enjoy some luxury, etc. It shouldn’t be because you’re currently struggling.

During the time you were earning way more, did you manage to hugely save after you finished up paying school fees? Where did you redirect all that extra cash to afterwards? Any black tax burdens? I obviously don’t know much about your situation, but I sense that there maybe the need to look into cultivating better financial habits overall.

Please also clear up your credit card debts ASAP and run out of that hole like you’re being chased. Wishing you the very best and hope you figure things out in due time.

I applied for 10 years/64 pages.

As mentioned before - I did biometrics in May and got my passport in September.

There's nothing more to say please. It's straightforward; what the guy needs right now isn't what you're proposing. Trading is an investment, a risky and murky one for that matter. What he needs have rightly been suggested by many other contributors.

Let's wait for others to contribute but I think you should go ahead and apply for the visa with the expired passport than going out of status. Worse case scenario, they write back and ask you to send your new passport

Another thing I realized recently is that many Nigerians actually qualify for the global talent visa stream. Many were just going for the student visa and care worker route simply because it is popular.
It's not only tech people that can apply for global talent visa.

Fashion designers, event managers, visual artists, even make-up artists also qualify.

All the exams are basically the same thing, they're testing for similar aptitude for/in English so you're going to be having similar difficulty levels in both, however, as someone who has taken the IELTS more than once for different purposes, I'll say do a lot of practice before taking the exams. It's not hard, but you need to be aware of how the questions are formatted and how the style changes from stage to stage.

Apply with your expired passport and also upload the slip of that shows that you’re already applied for new passport with a cover letter. You will be good

I'm sure you still remember my situation vividly,when I failed my modules and the school was going to award me a postgraduate diploma instead of an MSc.

I followed your advice and wrote to the vice chancellor of my school regarding my predicament and why I failed. Her office swung into action, and I was given the last chance 'Extenuating Circumstances’ .

I was asked to resubmit the failed module, and I passed.

Yesterday, I was awarded a Master of Science.

In 2021 when I sold crypto in £, I had 2 buyers who would send money to my account without mention of crypto, one Ghanaian and another india. The Indian would send with note in Hindi saying take care brother or Uncle A asked me to give you this for upkeep. He was a student as at that time too. That was when I was able to risk it (cos of school fee).

After that period my risk level dropped and i only sold crypto to # then convert back to pounds. Long trip, saved me from worrying about anything. Not sold in the last years as my job takes care of me here. Someone also advised getting a crypto Visa card. I believe binance has that.

In whatever you do, keep the term “Crypto” out of the notes/description. It use to be a big deal 2-3years ago, don’t know the situation now.

I know someone who had similar issue, she was awarded a postgraduate diploma in February because she didn't meet up with the academic requirements to be awarded a Msc. She submitted medical reports, involved the student advice, course leader, the school mental wellness team and the pastoral counsellor......the school granted her another opportunity to resubmit what was outstanding in early May and by first week of June, the result was out and awarded a Msc.....graduated in July.
