This has always been the case - any self employment turnover over £1K is usually taxable. It’s not a new rule. People fail to declare such income and HMRC has been too busy chasing the big fishes. With the new data sharing technology, it will be easier to detect all forms of tax evasion.

But am just asking,if I earn in pounds and I convert and send home..how would they know what I use it for?or since binance being centralized would give them details on my tnxs?as a Nigerian registered user resident in the UK?do I use a Nigeria VPN on binance?do decentralized exchanges use p2p?

Unfortunately, I cannot advice on taxation matters...... Just don't get caught out, because HMRC would spend £10,000 to recover £0.50.......😁

@semmyk, @Santa2,

I had my graduation yesterday, and it was eventful. I would like to thank you personally, @semmyk, for making this happen.

When all hope was lost, you came through with your advice and the right step to take.

I'm sure you still remember my situation vividly, when I failed my modules and the school was going to award me a postgraduate diploma instead of an MSc.

I followed your advice and wrote to the vice chancellor of my school regarding my predicament and why I failed. Her office swung into action, and I was given the last chance 'Extenuating Circumstances’ .

I was asked to resubmit the failed module, and I passed.

Yesterday, I was awarded a Master of Science.

@semmyk, I prayed God would come through for you in whatever challenges you are going through, just like you came through for me. It will all come good soon.

My appreciation also goes to @Santa2 for your advice and kind words.

Thank you again and again.

This is what this thread is all about: Community of kindness and sharing.

I had decided to let go of this thread because folks like Justman had decided to use the opportunity of being a moderator to attack beliefs that people hold sacred. I never understand how one thinks it's wise to keep saying negative things about non-criminal religious doctrines. You won't do such in UK to people's sexual orientation, for instance, regardless of your stance on the matter. But because it's Nairaland, it's alright to say things like "someone's sacred doctrine is a scam run by crooks in the Church".

I digress... But, I think I will come back. My epistles have helped so many people here.

I passed my theory driving test yesterday, first time. I also got my Mortgage Offer last week after only coming here 2 years ago as a Student Dependant. These are only 2 examples of some of the ways God has used information from this thread to help me.

So, here's to more Communal assistance on Nairaland.

Here is the blueprint I’ve been using. Did it for 6 months making £80-150 before I saw real result.

Find winning product , shoot an organic creative tiktok) With consistency you’ll know how to easily go viral) add ur website link, fulfill ur orders with CJdropshipping, create a good relationship with them and get private agent for faster shipping to reduce chargebacks..rinse and repeat but remember the game needs consistency

I also list winning product on Etsy and eBay too.

@Mindlog

Thank you so much. My joy knows no bounds.
I was also awarded a postgraduate diploma award in June, but I rejected it. I did not graduate with my cohort in July.
I had faith and kept pushing until my appeal was granted by the school to resubmit, and I passed my outstanding
I was given a new MSc award and had my graduation two days ago.

Mindlog:

Congratulations as I can imagine your joy!

I know someone who had similar issue, she was awarded a postgraduate diploma in February because she didn't meet up with the academic requirements to be awarded a Msc. She submitted medical reports, involved the student advice, course leader, the school mental wellness team and the pastoral counsellor......the school granted her another opportunity to resubmit what was outstanding in early May and by first week of June, the result was out and awarded a Msc.....graduated in July.

Thanks for your advice, Nigeria is totally out of it.
I got a better update on the story that I wouldn’t even want to share anymore here.

I have only socialized twice in a year for few hours close to my house.
Some people are making it look like i party every Friday. Anyway seems like I gave too much info.
Make Una take am easy oh 😂
You even had to ask for my age.
The issue of sending her to Nigeria was because the people around me was spreading too much fear

Thank you

inphoenix:

Please weigh your options before deciding on what is "best".

From personal and quite similar experience, I'll advice to please keep your child with you.

There is no law against leaving children at home and there is no set minimum age where a child can be left at home by themselves, what is considered is the child's maturity which the officers have been able to establish in your case.

What you will have a problem with is leaving a child alone overnight. The minimum age that will be permitted is 16.

Also, once the police has been called on ANY matter regarding a minor, social services must be involved, its standard procedure that is just usually a tick box exercise, except there really is a cause for concern, which I don't see from what you have explained here. A lot of scare mongering about social services "taking away children", but for that to happen, it must have been quite a bad situation or parents' are annoying or display oversabi attitude. They will escalate it for you for example if you use some "buzz words" or display some body language they look out for that Nigerians tend to use that set alarm bells ringing, so even if there is no real issues in their investigations, such utterances or attitude could land you in hot water.

Now back to you..., you certainly can do without the reason for which you have gone out late at night, can't you? I don't know how old you are, but come on now... there are certainly other ways and times to socialise, innit? 😀

My point is, if the only reason you are considering returning your child to Nigeria is because you want to enjoy the night life (as opposed to you needing to work nights for example, even then sef) then I think you can make that sacrifice for you to watch your child grow with you.

It might also interest you to note that when time comes to attend Uni, you can avoid paying overseas fees by virtue of "long residence" which going back to Nigeria might make a bit more challenging...

"Too much fear" you say

While inphoenix was right that sending back to Nigeria should be well considered being thought as best; (s)he may have said some things that are not entirely correct and make us feel too comfortable.

It's a big offence to leave a child alone if it places them at risk and you can be easily prosecuted for it and the child taken from you. I am speaking from experience of cases I am involved in but can't speak much of because the matter is in court and it's private and confidential.

It's definitely NOT a tick-box exercise that the social services have been involved and could be a big cause of concern. It entirely depends on the officers handling the case. If you know any social worker, they'd tell you better, someone whose wife is a social worker already mentioned how serious this is.

That said, I really hope it doesn't escalate any further but you really need to be cautious going forward. I wish you the best.

Didn't mean to be judgemental, apologies if I came across that way.

Fear mongering is very rampant in our community and can led people to make mistakes. No 2 situations are exactly the same and every case will be treated on its merit.

I'm just happy you're not sending her to Nigeria. Just try and find a way around not leaving her overnight. You both will be alright, best wishes!

Wait, so because she born pikin, she must carry the pikin for head everywhere? Or a single mother must not fend for herself or have life because she get pikin. I wish you people can listen to yourselves sometimes!

If you read what I said, it is a tick box exercise EXCEPT there is a cause for concern!!! You just repeated the same message I passed, but you still had to instill that fear that she is not safe in the poor woman, why??!!!!!!

I hate when you people scare others with all these social worker nonsense!!! You think it's just easy to take away children?

Guys please, I'm in urgent need of an adult/childminder in Edinburgh, particularly around West Lothian/livingstone area to help me mind my kids for 2hrs a day, between 2 and 4 days a week.
My wife gets home about 11pm and I have to go to work at 930pm. There is really nothing to do, just an adult at the house between 930 and 11.
I'm willing to pay about 11£ per hour. It's very urgent. I resume on Monday the 30th

If you are offended because i called out some criminal/fraud happening in many Churches today then you are part of the prob.

It's not in my nature to engage random folks on the internet especially over matters like religion which is why I didn't quote you by deliberately misspelling your moniker but I'd make an exception and leave the thread if I have to since it's actually yours.

You said and I quote "Tithing is a scam" among several other things. That's just off for people here who may hold it as a sacred doctrine. You won't do same to even an Islamic doctrine or any other legal group like LGBTQ even if you don't believe in what they're doing.

You have to respect other people's legal beliefs even if you feel you are now much wiser than them. You can share your opinion but making such definite derogatory statements is bullying.

This isn't about you "calling out some fraud in the Church", don't divert it and act like that's all you said.

I used to respect you a lot and I still do, I really don't want to stretch this conversation
