in fact i have spent 500k trying to get a certification that i am not sure will yield result.

i am saying this for those who are home not to sell their property.

to save them from impending loses
"if people refuse to listen, let adversity teach them" - an African adage.

Let them be. They'll all understand.

I know Nigeria is messed up, but i've never thought I have to leave Nigeria to make it in life.

If you are smart and you have 15m in Nigeria, you're made - in business terms. Though It's a harsh business environment.

Lol that's the truth except you can go with a dependent that can work full time and it wasn't always 25 million. As of even 2020. 9 million could do a full masters.
Are you in 2020? You people haven't been there, but you want to show him how to feel. You know all this and you haven't traveled. Go and practicalize it with your own money.

i won't suffer greatly. i have houses in different cities already in Nigeria. still running business bringing 1m. bur converting this money into pounds pays only rent

doing extremely well.
bought those properties by the grace of God. but disposing any more properties now? i can't.

A friend wanted to start same journey last week. but i told him honest opinion to back down.... give him detailed analysis all i have gone through.

so coming here is to warn Nigerians not to embark again... its no longer promising as before
I love how u are being open with reality to Nigerians here good thing is that you have something to fall back on in Nigeria... If it costs this much to Japa and no Job as such then to me it's not that appealing... If not for language barriers other countries should be better to go to than uk...

Omohhhjjj

These oyinbos really want to wreck Africa.
They will do anything in their capacity to see that whatever money we get from them through crude oil sales finds it way back to them.
We sell crude and buy back petrol more costly from them.
When they come to school here, they can do it virtually cheap but when we are to school there, you will have to virtually sell the family house to fund the expenses.
What about their football league? Most companies like DStv are always at the brink of bankruptcy just to get a license to broadcast their leagues. Hitv went broke due to this.
The transaction between a black man and a white man has never favoured a black man for once.
They always outstrip and loot us.
I checked flight ticket for a family of 4 to Canada for vacation and the cheapest flight was 8m and goes up to 10m. Just flight alone.
Omoh, I no go even try am.
My mama go roll for inside her grave if I try am just for vacation. We are not even talking about permanent relocation or study.
this is why Africa should try to ensure movement within her continent is ok.. someone's should be able to go for vacation within Africa or within Nigeria self...

The thing is he didn't even go with a dependent and it seems from what I have read on this thread it is almost impossible to pay 11k pounds as a student working part-time?

I be dey think of exploring this option btw now and January if I can raise 10m ... But I have someone I can put up with for like a year in terms of accommodation

Exactly bro

Exactly

Africa need to wake up fast and put her house in other else these vampires won't mind sucking her dry.
Flights within African continent shouldn't be more than 100k max but it is a pity that a one way ticket to a country like Angola is about $800. 2 ways will be $1,600.
Who in his right senses will spend that on just flight for vacation within Africa.
I am currently in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea and the flight back to Lagos cheapest 1 way is $500 and this is a country just a stone throw away.
From ebok field in akwa ibom, you can clearly see the Malabo mountain yet it is a whooping $500 1 way.

I remember warning people a while ago to use logic before deciding to come to the UK, rather than the typical Naija's attitude of "We will cross the bridge when we get to it" No one is saying you shouldn't come to the UK but make sure you've paid your school fees in full before stepping foot on the plane and have some money left to sustain you for at least 9 months.

You CANNOT pay part of your school fees and believe you will be able to hustle for the balance on a 20 hours/ week job, especially if you're a solo student with no dependent but it seems people just want to get the UK visa by all means.

I've seen fully grown men and women beg for food, money and accommodation because they either can't balance their school fees or they arrived and realised there's no health care job waiting for them. UK is a hostile place to be if you're an immigrant and broke.

come on man!, cheesy why ya go searching for. obs on indeed? grin 200 jobs? You applied for? Including cleaning job? I don't believe it, you gota be telling porkies.

Look! You don't go looking for jobs online, go register with an agency near you, call them daily to see if they have any jobs, tust me, in a week's time you d be working. Another way of finding jobs is walking into the company or firm you you would lik to work for and asking if there are any vacancies.

35million to 40 million and guessing in naira you spent? to come UK? Man! Isn't that like £35000? with £35k Man would relocate to Namibia, Cape Verde, Kenya or Gambia and live lika king!

instead to go Kenya or Gambia e no better to remain naija.. cape Verde kwa an island for that matter except u wan go do business there..

Depends on what u do. I came to England 26th of September, 2023, I am an IT person, saw a computer warehouse where they recycle computers in my neighborhood in Birmingham and walked into it to notify them I was available for jobs. They asked of If I could fix Computers and tested me for 3 days. And I passed. I've received my first salary for 40.8hours which is about £462 thereabouts. I've also downloaded nextdoor app to notify neighbors that I fix Computers, I got a message from a primary school teacher to format her PC and fix RAM. I made £75 from that. Just bought a bike from facebook marketplace to aid my movement. I'm walking into a local pizza delivery shop to notify of my availability for deliveries on weekends.
Japa isn't for everyone. U need skills to survive.
u have skills... Even in Nigeria pple with skills de do tins... I admire your way oooo

honesty, honesty between themselves.
their political class are honest.. the average man are honest. no one steals on the street. put ur bag on major street go n come u will see it there 90%.. if it get stolen then its immigrant that just came.

here in Nigeria no honesty. that means they steal, everyone coming in politics have mindset of stealing

That level of honesty was here (Nigeria) before they came in the name of colonization to steal and launder our common resources to develop their country. Our politicians learnt from them, however it's very unfortunate that till today our politicians steal here and still take it to them, and our hustling brothers are now taking their hard earned money there too in the name of Japa.

Japan to UK, australia, Canada through education at this period is not for the poor.
Honestly

If you stay anywhere near the west Midlands, I can assist the dependent among the two of you with a job ASAP aa you need one urgently based on my recommendation. But I CAN'T assist the student among the two of you because of the limited number of hours on that visa.

and you you cannot make £1200 a month? Your story is not adding up. You already have N1m guaranteed from your business in Nigeria and you make £800 online according to you, why can't you scale up? I work online too and I know I can always scale up and earn more when I am ready to commit to it. Not adding up.

I partner with some firm outside Nigeria but the business is in Nigeria.
The business generates 1m naira and above after expensis.
You can't just wake up and scale a business under a short run when all input are not variable.

Una dey take risk o. How do you come with an outstanding £9k to pay as fees. The dependant route for masters students is on hold for now. We know how to abuse everything. How would a student come with over 6 dependants. For jobs it’s not as easy as it was before. There is an influx of migrants to the UK now. Think well before japa to UK

If you have 10 children and ur wife... They are ur dependant..

You have to proof it.

No one is abusing any system.

U can't bring ur brother or friends as dependant if it's what u mean

Oga stop all these lies. Am not saying it's easy at the start o, but the lies here are too outrageous. Got to the UK this month as a family of four and we spent abt N10m in all. So what did u spend N30m on? Also, i stay in a remote location yet have got 2 jobs already in just 3 weeks despite not apying as much as i shld. Stop your son story and get your lazy ass to work.

Did you pay through form A or through row dollars? Ihs and visa fee for one person is 1460 convert with your calculator. Multiply by two.
The add up with your school fees innitia payment of maybe 5600 pounds. Then add interest on POF, only plane ticket was almost 1.9 for both of us.

How much was ur flight ticket as a family of 4?

Through which site did u apply for your job and can you screenshot your cv let me adjust mine

That is not the point. Did you see the school fees before you applied to the school? Were they cheaper alternative for you? Did you see the requirements by the visa office for your student visa? Did you meet such requirements?
These are questions that should have been considered before embarking in this journey. So, the advise would have been, counting the cost before movement. From the conversation so far, it is indicative that you didn't do that.
You just like to argue , can’t you just rest? What are you trying to prove. If you want to sell property and go, you are free and if you have the full money at hand , it’s cool. C’mon! E don do nah Abi. You keep repeating same thing .
