Just yesterday 23/11/2023, I witnessed the out come of such union. I felt so bad for that family. They have 4 children, out of this 4 children, 3 are SS. in short, they lost one of them yesterday after spent huge amount of money for blood and oxygen and the remaining two are still battling with one sickness or the other.
Do you want such for your family??

This is another angle to this kinda scenario that has never crossed my mind. If you guys love each other so much that it's hard to give up, consider doing this. You can have a mutual agreement with your lover to consider surrogacy. You can get your sperm to be fertilized with another lady that's AA and you guys can have kids bearing your genes. You can as well adopt kids if you have the resources for it. If you must do this, please ensure you do a vasectomy so you don't bring a child who'll suffer pains all her life. I've lost 3 cousins of same parents because of this sickle cell issue.

I have cousin out of 5.
He's the one that became SS. He got a stroke when he was 10. So one side is paralyzed.
He's now in his mid 40's and his bones are getting weaker because of the Sickel cell blood stuff.
They've so far replaced his 2 hip bones with titanium. (Million Naira surgery)
His parents were AS.
Sick everytime.
Toasting girls is hard. Not married. Girls afraid to date and marry him.
We're just praying for him.

I would advice them to let their love die a natural death. I'm lucky not to be SS, but my sister wasn't so lucky. I watched her live a life of pain and in her death bed, she begged us to allow her die because the pain was just too much. I cry when i think about what she could have become but I'm happy she doesn't feel the pains anymore. If they love themselves so much, they should not allow a sickle cell child into this world to live a life of pain. He needs to have a heartfelt brutally honest tete-a-tete with his love-interest in the best interest of their future and especially the future of the children they could have together. The heart-ache of the break-up is no nearly worth the endless heartaches of losing their children to sickle-cell anaemia and the restlessness and expenses that comes with managing them.
