Chet has made OKC better. What has Wemby done for the Spurs? Abeg x3

But he still has made them better, no matter how minute it might be. On the other hand it looks like the Spurs have regressed. He got nice individual numbers though, I'll give him that, but we need to see it translate to some wins. Just some.

Both of these dudes are big men who don't initiate offense. One plays with a first team allnba pg and a team which has better players top to bottom and the overall team improves.
The other guy plays for a team where a small forward with a very weak handle and dubious playmaking ability in Sochan spends so much time initiating the offense and somehow we still blame the inability of Wemby numbers translating into wins on him.
Please we are not Skip Bayless and co who trive on outrage, this is a team sport and available talent and context matter.
If we switch both players right now, the Spurs will still be where they are if not worse, while OKC will be legitimate title contenders.
If Wemby was on OKC right now, no one will be talking about them needing to make a trade to get over the hump, but with Chet that is what the discussion is right now.

Celtic on a 16 - 0 run at their home court this season.

Very impressive.
Re: The NBA Begins by larride(m): 4:19am On Dec 30, 2023
Something still feel off about Bucks. I think they have the best offensive duo in the league but I'm not getting their championship vibes from their games.

Le fans as usual. Do you folks read before you comment? I was very clear that upsets do happen and i mentioned one example. But, most of the time the team the most star-studded team wins. So my bet is on 70% of the time. Meanwhile, a much better example you could have brought up was Mavericks vs Heat. cheesy grin. You deliberately forgot about it. No GOAT on a star-studded team would lose like that.

Cheers.

Yea, like when the 2011 Mavericks swept my beloved Lakers in the WCSF. And like when the Heat beat Giannis and the Bucks multiple times. Like When the Heat beat the Celtics multiple times too. Like When the Nuggets beat the title favourites the Clippers in the bubble in 2020. Like When the Raptors with Kawhi as the lone superstar knocked out Embiid, Simmons and Jimmy Butler in 2019. Yea. Stars over team grin

GSW is going back to the dark ages. Any hope of a resurgent dynasty is gone.

It was fun while it lasted sha. Let's go back to tanking like we did in the early 2000s - 2010s.

Still a fan by the way but this season is a snapshot of 6 yrs to come
It depends on if the guys at the top can make the correct and thought decisions which right now they are failing to do.
The warriors before Steph and now is in terms of reputation, stadium location, financial muscle and pull. They are now a marque franchise second to the lakers and probably celtics in terms of pull.

They should be easily able to land big free agents post steph, if they play their cards correctly.

A marvelous birthday to the GOAT of all GOATs. The king. The one who defied Father time. The longest peak in the history of sports.

The Cavs won 17 games the year before LeBron was drafted. The very year he was drafted, he led them to 35 wins and the 9th position, just one game behind the Celtics. The next year, the Cavs finished with a winning record (42-40), the same record with the Nets who just pipped them to the final playoff spot.

Why am I bringing all this up? When it comes to hype and expectation, Wemby is the most hyped rookie since LeBron. I would even argue that most people think he would be greater than LeBron when it's all said and done. You can't be this hyped and then be 5-26. At this rate the Spurs would finish with fewer than 15 games. Having skill is one thing but having the will to win and succeed is another. Look at Duncan and the Spurs. 20 wins the year before he was drafted and 56 wins in his rookie year. In his sophomore year the Spurs were top in the West. That is impact.

Yea, a team with 2 HOFs and Shawn Marion who was a multiple all-star, and Jason Terry who was the 6th man of the year the year before was the massive underdog. I totally get you

Haslem and Bam are so shortsighted, ignorant and silly to make such comments about the Great Bill Russell. They need someone to sit both down and educate them. Bill is one of the biggest reasons why they have a platform to play. Hanging his jersey in Miami is about being a trailblazer for minorities inside and outside the game, his incredible work with social justice and reforms..Better still, his jersey is hanging in the rafters of all 30 teams. Get some education fools.

JB has been on a tear for a while now, I think he is playing his best basketball right now. Also, the chemistry between him and Porz is good. They have a great off court relationship, they drive to the arena together, live in the same complex and that seems to be translating on the court.

Wemby with an impressive breakaway dunk, he is such an unusual player for his size. Sorry White, you might end up on Sportscenter for that dunk.

Celtics v Thunder is a series I marked in my calendar and so far it has been good. We are crashing the boards but not doing enough to stop their perimeter shooting.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 2:52am On Jan 03
Excellent execution on both ends a transition bucket leads to a Pritchard 3 to even scores.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 3:01am On Jan 03
Refs come on, that has to be an And1, not a foul on the floor.

Surprised Tatum is having a quiet game by his standard. No unnecessary shootings.

Porzingis has been good.

At this point, Spurs better beg Pop to retire if they cant sack him.

Man game plan is non existent.

The Celtics take a 3 point lead to the half. An exciting game I must admit. SGA is definitely in the class of superstars now.

Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 4:35am On Jan 03
Our 3rd quarters have been a source of concern for me throughout this season. But you have to give it up to the Thunder, that is a good team.

At this point, I might just get me a Shai jersey. What is beautiful about people like him, Giannis, Jokic, Kawhi and other draft steals is that no one sees them coming. People are distracted by the top draft picks, the likes of Zion, Ja & Lamelo Ball while others slowly cook and become better with every game. Someone like Shai just plays his game effectively, no show-boating, no muscle-flexing, no trash talking none of all that nonsense. Those are people after my heart, diamonds in the rough not those hyped by the media.

The Thunder over the past few weeks have beaten the Nuggets in Denver twice, warriors twice, blew out the Timberwolves, blew out the Clippers, comfortably beat the Knicks, and tonight they took out the Boston Celtics.

Experience is the only reason I won't label them a little contender yet.
