Details Of Super Eagles
Training – Peseiro Switches
Formation From 4-2-4,
Nwabali Shines, Simon Steals
The Show

The senior national team of Nigeria stepped up their
preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations with a full
training session at their camp in Abu Dhabi,
OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Yesterday they had two gruelling sessions under the
watchful eyes of head coach of the team Jose Peseiro
alongside his assistants. As many as 23 players took part
in the evening session following the arrival of team’s top
striker Victor Osimhen.

As at the time of this report only two players in William
Troost-Ekong who is expected this morning and Kelechi
Iheanacho who will join the team in Nigeria before they
depart for Cote d’Ivoire if he passes a fitness test.

The major high point of the session was the decision of
the coach to line the team in a new formation different
from the 4-2-4 formation. The formation he has played
since he took over as coach of the team over a year ago.

Peseiro had them lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with the
players likely to start against Guinea in their test game on
Monday up against the other players, who will likely be on
the bench for the game.

Newly invited goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali stood out with
his reflexes and ball handling abilities. His ability to play
with his feet under pressure also caught the eyes
especially when he hit a near forty yards pass to help his
team make the transition from defence to attack.

Among the outfield players Nantes of France winger
Moses Simon gave all sorts of problems for Bright Osayi-
Samuel who was up against him during the session. He
created more chances than any other player during the
duration of the session.
Na so dem dey shine for training. Match day now you'd get a tepid performance

To be honest. Akanji, Saka, Musiala and Olise were/are very unlikely to be won over by the SE. Leave the fact that afrobeats and Naija culture is now “cool” / en vouge. 10 years ago when most of these players were teens, being African wasn’t as cool as it is today in the West. Most of the Euro dual nationals have more affinity to their Euro nations.

To me, Eze is the more painful one because there was genuine interest on his part but we failed to act quickly enough. And he’s the type of midfielder we need that can pick out a pass, drive with the ball but is also good on set pieces.

With Alaba, I heard there was some promise early on but once he was established at Bayern, Austria did the needful.

Tomori is another one I’m hurt about. Our CBs need a massive upgrade and I could have seen him being a stalwart for us for many years to come.

We have to start acting like France/England and capping the dual nationals we think have potential early on. Tosin at Fulham should be one of the first on our list of players to flip.

soon dem go tag u asslicker 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I might just be one of the few SE fans that is not really keen about these foreign borns. For goodness sake let them be!

We have our own proven way of getting getting quality players thru the production line and that is the youth team.

All the world class players we've ever produced have been thru the youth teams.

Ikpeba, kanu, Taribo, Okocha, Babayaro, Mikel and now Osimhen have come thru the youth ranks.

The only exception is of course Victor Moses.

There was a time the foreign borns were not even eligible to play for us and we did just fine. Now, we lazily look up to them to fix every hole, real or imagined , in the NT.

Can you please expatiate on this PROVEN WAY devoid of tribalism, favouritism, religious discrimination, bribery, godfatherism, etc please

In addition can you name the player's that came through this PROVEN WAY currently please.

Your opinion but i think pairing Omeruo with Bassey is the best for the team now. The centre back need an experience player who can guide the team.
The only match Ajayi n bassey or any other person performed averagely was the match with Sao tome( i stand to be corrected) every other match it has been awful..conceding goals n goals.
We need Omeruo and not Awaziem nor Ajayi to pair Bassey.
2innocent:

Based on Afcon standard, I don't think we have a weak defense. The problem is that the coach looks dumb. I hear he plans pairing Omeruo with Bassey, I think Omeruo should be coming in towards the end of matches to secure wins. Awaziem is the best pair for Bassey honestly

Omeruo is declining but one thing you can't really take from him is that,he usually steps up during tournaments.
I prefer Leon Balogun to pair Bassey at CB,it's a pity he is not in the squad. Dude can interpret defense duties more than the others.

england's squad has always been Among the most valuable in the world going into any tournament for a long time now but those fellas last touched a trophy in 1966 and have only been in one final since then. No be most valuable dem dey take play ball. You better put your mind at rest and watch afcon without pressure. Super eagles resemble team wey fit perform for your eyes?
When you expect nothing from the team, it's when the outperformed your expectations my opinion

You can't force an unwilling horse.
The Saka's, Olise, Musiala's etc have at no time indicated even a slight interest in playing for Nigeria..A total non starter.

Correct on the bolded. Hence me saying there was never really any chance in flipping them.

Eze was really the one that had promise. He indicated interest in playing for SE, especially if we qualified for WC’22. To be honest, us missing out on that WC was also a miss on convincing players like Eze and Tosin to join the SE.

Stories like that are usually written by the team's media officer. It is like watching NTA news painting the picture of everyday Nigeria in the most positive lime light.

Mikel Obi does not want to become Super Eagles coach for fear of getting sacked.

“I would love to get involved with the Super Eagles, but not as a manager.

" I don’t want to get sacked, and I don’t think I can handle that very well.

" I want to be involved with the national team as someone trying to fix the problems from the top,” the former Super Eagles captain said on CNN.

I won't be surprised if Ndidi's relevance in the team drops. Onyedika n Alhassan are great defensive midfielders n will make us forget Ndidi, but that's if the coach will not go n play iwobi in DM🤣🤣

Alhassan isn’t a natural CDM but a CM/B2B midfielder just like ex Le Blue dynamo Kante

Pairing Onyedika as CDM with Alhassan as b2b/CM then Iwobi as the CAM won’t be bad

The most ideal midfield trio with Ndidi been out are Onyedika, Onyeka and Iwobi. Aribo is better on the ball and more creative than Onyeka but the Brentford man has more grit and agility to help in midfield when the team is chasing possession

Sir,we have seen Ojo blunders in the shirts of Enyimba FC. He is not amongst the best in the league and he has no business being called up to play for the NT.

I will rather have Daddy Shaky Shaky ( Akpeyi) in goal than having Ojo and Uzoho combined.

Enyeama at his age is still better than Nwabili,Ojo and Uzoho.

Nwabili has to get the nod to be our first choice goalkeeper.

Our goalkeeper trainers self no sabi anything just like Alloy Agu.NFF should relieve them of their jobs and appoint Enyeama as goalkeeper trainer after the tourney.
