Soldiers calling civilians idiots and bastards while governor calling soldiers useless. Nigeria is just like the story book called animal farm. Intimidation of the weaker ones has been the situation of things in this country.

The officer is silly and irresponsible.
He should be courtmartial and debrobed immediately. Being a military personnel doesnt make you above others. It is a profession mostly everyone wanted to do at one time or the other, but majority bribed their ways into the military. Pilots, sailors etc are more dangerous profession than the military, why dont they always forcefully demand respect and be treated differently to other citizens. Being a miliatry is a priviledge, you dont own the guns you think you can use to intimidate people.
Military personnel need to be educated, they are like hired drivers, driving danfo, rollroyce, SUVs, you can be fired and the SUVs, rollroyce, danfo etc can be taken off from you.

In other climes, military and police fear and respect the laws of the land more than the civilian population.
Because the soldiers and police can be easily fired by their superiors at any slight breach of the law.
The lance corporal soldier should not have agreed to the Okada rider taking him driving on wrong lane of the road.
The senior army officer was scolding gov Sanwo Olu because the officer still has the false belief that soldiers are superior to elected government officials.

is it Nigerian that sent the man message?

since you believe that he is a soldier, look at his uniform and his beret and tell us his rank since he is a "top ranking military officer".

Yet another top ranking soldier slams Governor of Lagos state Sanwo-Olu for arresting a fellow soldier plying one-way along Lagos-Badagry expressway

We have a big problem in our hands in Nigeria, we changed from military to civilian government but our military personnel's were not reoriented on the effect of this change, they still assume they ought to be seen and heard. I'm afraid we might still have a seed of coup in our nation with this type of thinking.
Military is a service not a forced act, if you don't want to serve take a walk, because you are serving doesn't mean you have the right to behave anyhow you please. The military should be the highest echelon of discipline and order, if it's a crime to break military rules, it's a bigger crime to break general rules. In any first world nation if a military personnel breaks the law of the land they are arrested after which the military can come get their boy, but in Nigeria a military man can't be arrested by a governor for commuting a crime, so who can now arrest him if a governor can't?

I watched it again and again yesterday. What sanwoolu did was very wrong. I've seen same man drive on one way and brt Lane with his boys. Only the military can checkmate all our politicians excesses. If not for their harsh rule, I prefer them 100% to the kind of democracy we practise in Nigeria.

See vices all over town. Corrupt politicians who jump from one party to another, abandoning the party that brought him to power and those who voted him there, yahoo boys, oloshos, drug trafficking etc com full Nigeria like this. In a military government, you dare not try it

He called him a "useless boy" because he acted like one. If he had caused an accident, opinions would be different.

"I am a soldier" said the alleged soldier. I used alleged because he might not even be one. If he is indeed a soldier, then he is meant to maintain an high level of discipline instead of him caught breaking the law.

I think the main issue here is the fact that he allowed the event to be taped, it does not matter if he arrested him and release him later, the hubris with which he did it in front of camera is the problem.

And secondly, the soldier wasn't on duty, breaking the law when not on duty is not acceptable even in the military.

And finally, If I was in his shoes, I wouldn't say anything right there especially as I can't be identified, I would wait until processing or even when the whole drama is over before identifying myself.

In everything presentation matter.

You mean you don't know this man you call fake? He's the highest ranking officer among the military personnel who hail from Ondo state in the Nigeria army today.

But I understand whose side you're on. You think like your master grin

Sanwo did the right thing bt the word "useless" and "Bastard civlian" too heavy Ii think h will learn not to say such again as a leader no matter what and he should pls not follow Amaechi reckless speech saying "people will commit suicide more" out of his frustration he couldn't become the president.

Sanwo I like you and will always like you but pls don't allow Nigerian stubbornness create issues for you.

The governor should not had called him useless, not other his Arrest, since it's in front of his barracks, take him there call the higher ups of that barracks hand him over let them discipline him,

And that's what the other guy meant

I don't know what their problem is. Maybe they expect the governor and his security team to give the soldier an high five after he was caught breaking the law and declaring that he was a soldier.

His main point is that, the Governor was also breaking the law by driving on one-way.

He should live by example if he want to make a public show of people breaking the law, he was even on one way while making the ‘arrest’. I guess he was pissed that some nobody dare share the road and special privilege of breaking the law with him.

what he should have done is to take the soldiers into the barracks because they are already close to the barracks and hand them over to the MP, sanwo olu have no right to arrest a soldier at his barrack.

Go school ,they will say school na scam.
Did you notice that only illiterates officers are coming out to say trash online to justify breaking of traffic law by another Ignorant soldier.
The Governor arrested traffic offenders at random just to enforce traffic rules and the idiot was trying to justify his action by saying he was a soldier which infuriated the Gov.
You know many years of military rules have done damages to average Nigerian psyche couple with the fact that we are naturally lawless.
Go to advance countries if you violate a traffic rules as a General ,the lowest rank traffic warder will get you arrested and locked up without any wahala.

We should all be working to move forward not behaving like barbarians.

Why can't you just play us a video of the Executive Gov passing one-way.
