I have always said that our banking stocks are dirt cheap.

At an average return on equity of 24%, using a Minimum required return of 20% to discount the Investment.

The average justified PE for the banks should be 9.5

I bought UBA @33 naira in 2007, zenith @40 Aiico @6naira, Dangsugar@50 naira, wema@15naira. If UBA didn't get 100naira, zenith 120 naira , Aiico 20naira, I won't sell, my friends that invested in lands and properties are worth more that 1000% of their initial value as at now. In 2007 transport from portharcourt to lagos is #2,500, now it's 40,000 naira.

As a matter of fact UBA has a book value per share of about N40.

Access BVPS is N46

GTB BVPS is N43

Zenith Bank BVPS is N61.

Double check the UBA book value per share you quoted. It is an understatement shocked
UBA has a book value per share of N50 based on 2023Q3.

You are not the only one that lost money in 2007/08. What i would advise you is to get knowledge. Research very well. Sell any of those stocks you need to sell and channel your funds into a rewarding stock. I lost money in 2007 too and can never forget my UBN how it went, but what I lost is now insignificant compared to what I have gained in this market.
My strategy is to learn and trade/invest with wisdom.
There is no point tying down your capital.

My opinion.

You seems not to know me... I fear insurance stocks so the ones I bought won't be mentioned because I don't want my followers to get into insurance sector and be trapped for years before bailout... Insurance stocks, japaul etc were amongst the stocks I paid heavy school fees back THEN (2008)

I won't call the name of any insurance firm I bought

You guys should leave this thing...do you think big funds can exit the market in a day or week? This is why people rush to sell in a bull market and end up only buying higher.

Someone here wished for UBA to hit N24 so he can sell and buy lower, the same UBA is now 28-29. If Q1 comes out better, at what price do you think such a peson would re-eneter UBA. Do you also think Access wil go back to N17

Oga dem, make una dey calm down...personally GTB, ZENITH needs to cross N50 before I shake body after Q1 results are out.

Hmmm..... ''maddest profits from Oando''. No wonder you have always been beaming with smiles when the rest of us have been under serious tension, panic and uncertainty!
Now, the cat has been let out of the bag and we know those who are no longer with us in this Oando struggle.
Anyhow, anyhow, we die there!

How do you manage your emotions during bull season like this particularly those already in the market seeing their portfolio rising in leaps and bounds. I see emotions are high cheesy so one doesn't end up selling gold to buy bronze angry

Chief I see you like stocks with big numbers, what's the catch? They hardly return 50% unlike low to mid price stocks.

Putting things in context , dollar must have been 120/130 naira , that’s why you need a diversified investment portfolio beyond stocks

But we bought this same uba for 10/11 naira last year , dangote sugar was on sales last year , same with others, may we not be found missing at the table when it’s time to feast and recover losses of the cankerworm grin grin grin , everybody don pay school fees one way or the other before .money for my next real estate project is complete from this current harvest . Returns have been way beyond expectations. DD as always

If I sell any gold na better GOLDMINE I dey use am buy... I sell non-dividend paying with bad results to buy stocks with good fundamentals... I have learnt never to tie money down during a bulls market

Just like I sold a bank stock to buy a fundamentally sound stock that is doing far better and if anything happens to the market suddenly it will still be a win win situation for my CAPITAL...

IN INVESTMENT safety of CAPITAL is KEY and premium
