They are no longer the world-best, they fell down in the latest ranking because of the policies implemented in the last years.
That's quiet unfortunate

What can a child learn in school at 1 year?

My daughter start when she was 1 year old. She will be 8 this year and will write her common entrance.

It helps if the school you enrol your child in is good with their methods of teaching.

I understand social bonding, all of that can be done at home during the first 3 years.

Let me play with other neighbors kids in the hood, just draft time they can spend outside.

I said social skills, not social bonding.

Ok. That is dictionary but in reality here in Nigeria, they usually put kindergaten before Nursery.
There are schools that follow the normal arrangements here in Nigeria. In the Lagos state scheme of work, the classes and age are written boldly there. You will see Nursery 1 (3 years), nursery 2 (4years), kindergarten (5 years), primary 1 (6 years) and so on.

Nigerians just have this mentality that if their kid don't start school within a year, it's lack of money.

Let's be frank, a 2 years child have no business in school. It's total wastage.

Best is home school them. Parents nowadays prioritize money over their kids. Imagine a child of 1 year is already a burden they have to dump in school. No time to bond with them

So what would you do? Resign from work to live with your child or take your child to your company (e.g. bank)?

My brother I'm telling you and the school fees no be here. As at that time.(2014) the kg pupils we're paying 90k per term and parents were willing to pay just to dump their wards and be off to work. Some even do after school because they work on the island and don't get back until 8pm due to the VI and third mainland traffic jam and they pay extra. I don't know how much the school is charging now though but people are still taking their children there.

To me all is competition. My child is attending so so school. Duh.

If I have my way, I'll homeschool my children from preschool to basic four. The only reason I'll enroll him/ her in a formal school is for common entrance.

You just use the right word "DUMP" Gen-Z parents prioritize money over children.
just 6 months some women will stop natural breastfeeding, dump the child with househelp or crèche to feed them with formulas.

The useless competition is the worse of all.

very serious...why i said 6 months in Nigeria is because most women are working class women, so they need to resume work except for some or the few that have nannies or people to take care of the baby for them...if not,, the child have to start daycare on time..

While in canada...them no send u ooo...ur child have to be five before the admitt him or her....that is why care giving job is very lucrative abroad....u will always need them

A lot for a year old person.

Some children talk faster than walk earlier than others.

Why at 3? Any reasons? What can you teach a 3-year-old in school?
Sorry but I've been busy. If you are observant you'd notice at that age your child is developing a brain capacity, asking sensitive questions and able to remember things, at that point it's important you enroll the child in school, it'd help him/her pick up fast. But before this age it's the role of the parents to teach and train the kid at home.

Depends on their learning pace. Children will learn regardless.

Personally speaking, a child can go to school at 1 year of age. Do I recommend it? No. It's not for everyone. The curriculum is whatever class they fit into in school.

I am interested in the curriculum for a one-year-old-baby. I was hoping someone would enlighten me as to what teachers are instructed to teach this age group in particular.

Kids are developing their brain capacity right from the start, even in the womb. I agree that at age 3 they develop a new set of skills and abilities, the question is, however, why at this age specifically they should be enrolled in schools and not go to kindergarten for example? It would also interest me how the lessons should be designed? Are they expected to sit at their desks for hours? What`s the difference between a kindergarten and a school? What is the difference between education and formal education?

A one-year-old is still a baby and I have never met a baby at one that can speak more than single words like mama or dada at most. Even if they could, are they supposed to learn rhymes for hours all day every day? Is there all there is to a curriculum for one-year-old children?

There's no 1 year old curriculum. Neither is there a 10 year old curriculum for a child in grade 8.

They'll be in class with the other children who are older, but their presence there means they will learn anyway. You'll just know if your child is able to learn and interact. I can't explain it.
Re: When Is The Right Time For A Child To Start School ? by Abee79(m): 10:03pm On Jan 20
The ideal age for a child to start school depends on the educational system and the child's individual readiness. In many places, formal education often begins around the age of 3 or 4. Before that, children may attend a daycare or playgroup, commonly referred to as creche.

Typically, creche or daycare is suitable for children between the ages of 1 to 3, providing a nurturing environment where they can engage in social activities and early learning experiences. Nursery school, on the other hand, is usually for children aged 3 to 4 and serves as an introduction to more structured learning.

It's essential to consider the child's development, social skills, and individual needs when deciding the right time for them to start formal education. Some children may be ready earlier, while others might benefit from more time before entering a structured learning environment. Consult with educators or childcare professionals to determine the best fit for your child.
