Waste of time.
Melt polythene into anything and it'll come back to being polythene when cooled.
Except someone eats plantain chips and finds a layer of polythene on it, this is just another waste of government money.
they will add chemicals

Just see what bad economic policies have caused Nigerians.

A five litres of vegetable oil now goes for between 9-10k.

Government should just open boarders and allow essential commodities to come in so that Nigerians don't die of hunger.
opening the borders is even worse, the country will be a dumping ground for all manner of products

Like, shoro niyen,?
You people can not detect it
Someone detected it only for you to doubt
Now if it smell bad they .throws it away
When they informed you it becomes a rumors
Nafdac should just wake up,
Its their duty to guide the citizens from
Unwholesome food and others before
It even get to the market or end user.

nafdac is a joke.

We are on our own , pay nafdac no mind, they willingly certify any poison as long as the manufacturer is bribing them adequately.

They may refuse certification of healthier products that are unable to pay them what they request.

Nearly all processed food and drinks in the country are dangerously toxic because of NAFDAC.
Re: Bad Plantain Chips Rumour: NAFDAC Investigates Melting Rubber Into Oil by worksmart(m): 3:42pm On Jan 21
Many of biggest manufacturers of processed foods and snacks are foreign firms or have foreign managers.

nafdac are the most wicked for allowing them to poison Nigerians.

Re: Bad Plantain Chips Rumour: NAFDAC Investigates Melting Rubber Into Oil by Asquare84(m): 3:52pm On Jan 21
For those of you who eat crispy plantains chips, the secret of making it crispy is the polythene that was melted into the oil before frying the chips. I have know this for a long time.

Many Nigerians are school goers and are not educated in the real sense of it.

Scientifically, melting rubber in oil doesn't change it from going back to its form when it is cooled.
They are not even miscible even at any temperature, talk more when cooled.

There is no way you won't have or see that rubber properties when eating it, so the rubber properties suddenly disappeared abi?

Well, make them sef use this avenue see money chop as government agency wey dem be.

Exactly what i said earlier. It'll be obvious to do that. Rubber/polythene will solidify back to its natural state when its cooled.

If the report is true that a woman is melting plastics into oil and frying plantain chips with it.

That woman should be killed on the spot after conviction. She has killed many people by destroying their kidneys and liver to make money..

She deserves no mercy..

Seriously NAFDAC is really trying to stop fake products of consumables from Nigeria market, But Nigeria standard organization are not doing any work that is why fake products full Nigeria market from iron to plastics to building materials that was why building fall every day in Nigeria and they blame it on contractors handling such projects.
The sub-standard Iron rods is the major culprit, mostly by Indian manufacturers

I have come to realize that Nigerians are fast thinkers, to beat a Nigerian person you have to think faster and know their next thinking plan be it good or bad.
Imagine such a devilish idea. Ulcer is rampant then you will begin to reason I feed well, I don't Stay hungry, I take my medication as prescribed, still the test says i have ulcer.
It's so disheartening.

Please watch out what you eat and send home to your family.

Sometimes, it appears an average Nigerian didn't go close to where they taught science in school.

I don't believe that's possible because after cooling off, the fried plantain with the melted polythene rubber will solidify and become not just visible on the plantain chips but have a chaffed rubber feel when consumed. Chemistry 101.
Yeah, but what if the buyer decide to eat it anyway because he or she doesn't want to let it waste due to the money he or she bought it with? That's because I have witnessed very similar situation.

WT pyrolysis is the process in which the rubber polymers that make up WTs are decomposed into gas, oil and carbon black at the right temperature in the absence of oxygen or presence of inert gas.
