The statement "Nigerians will spend their last cash to have quality time and meal" is relative. We are a poor country Hogwarth, Even some of the competitors that were seen as QSR luxury are now modifying products for the market such as smaller boxes of pizza, roadside and market storms, cheaper meals such as the less than a 1000 naira meal and snacks...This is not a business I would be interested in for obvious reasons-barriers to entry are low and increasingly stiff competition. If they want to be profitable and offer shareholders value, they need to be serious. I would suggest: - Intensive marketing to take on a huge number of the working population by offering convenience, incentives and better product offerings. - Incorporating a bit of night life like "the place",and providing the right ambience for celebrations(this could be another source of income) - They could also try to create products for the mass market like chicken republic, the place, dominos & Co. have done. https://punchng.com/operation-rescue-naira-fg-considers-converting-30bn-domiciliary-deposits-to-naira/ If the government execute this threat, it would be a terrible disaster for the Naira. This single action will affect the NGX terribly. It would be the harbinger for absolute collapse of the Naira and the stock Market. Trust Nigerians, the Emefiele policy is still causing skepticism amongst the citizens as they do not trust the banking system. There would be a 3rd and 4th waves of absolutel physical cash scarcity. The forfeiture will solve a temporary problem, at the long run, the Bank will never see invincible forex again. The government should remember, that the US dollar is a hot cake in all the Neighbouring countries. The average Nigerians were not the looters of Nigeria forex. It was looted by the elites, starting from independence till date. IBB could not account for 12B usd gulf oil windfall. Abacha loot is still being repatriated Agunloye scammed the nation of 5B usd, Diezeani loot is too shameful for the government to announce the estimated usd she stole from the system. Government should borrow from the domiciliary account as a measure to confront the problem without causing a systemic problem. BAT should not near nor touch my sweat and blood dom wey i dey take hedge against Mr Naira, otherwise I done Japa be that oooo. 1 Like

Mankind2024:That's not right nah ... Withholding tax ought not to apply.... All the past buyout doesn't remove one Kobo from the exit price.........I've not seen where WTH is removed from exit price before.... Have you received yours? Make una ask them questions o. In another thought, the company may make up for the shortfall from additional payment we were told they'll pay......if it's true. * You can make more enquiry from GSK. |

Mankind2024:Good. They actually kept to their words and I like how they handled everything without prolonging it unnecessarily. ..but this withholding tax, na im be the issue there o.....not supposed to be deducted....and I don't think the mail indicated that With-holding will apply. Will recheck self. |

essentialone:All these people will end up losing money and dashing money to the market if they keep jumping upandan and panicking unnecessarily like this!! Guess people needs to learn the basics of how this market works and acquire basic skills of investing before jumping into it at least........or even if they jump into it, should make frantic efforts to learn how it works and equip themselves with investing knowledge......and not continue to liken it to crypto or MMM. This has been said times without number here...and newbies are been advised to buy more of fundamentally sound stocks!! Since they don't know their ways around the market. On what the person can do? He/She has two options: 1. To do NOTHING! Or 2. To watch out for likely bottom and average down his position. This way, he gets to benefit from the next rally.......or sell without loss as the case may be. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:23am On Feb 03 |
thebargainhunte: I am not a member of the management or professional advisers to the transaction, so I can't give a specific time frame. But I think by the end of this quarter we should be able to have an idea. It also depends on your average cost price, someone whose average cost price is less than N20 is different from someone whose average cost price is N70. I sold half of my holdings at a profit of over 200% based on my average cost price to buy a FGN bond at 15.8% yield which will pay coupons in March and September for the next 11 years 5 Likes 1 Share |

emmanuelewumi: Hello Sir. What do you think about the Govt converting money in dom accounts to Naira? What are your thoughts? |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:35am On Feb 03 |
Phraences: It can't work, even if they will do that they can't try it with the average Nigerian who have less than idle $20,000 in their dorm accounts. Probably targeted at those with huge accounts that are idle. What is the percentage of bank customer with N500,000 and above in Nigeria? Just 2%. Percentage of dorm account holders with $5000 and above should be less than 1%. I was in the bank yesterday, someone came to withdraw just $50 from his dorm account. I don't think government will target such people an average Nigerian trying to survive in a hostile economic environment My opinion though 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by unite4real: 9:46am On Feb 03 |
Phraences: Some journalists are quick to spew out news on policies that have not even been debated. I hope the report was not a fall out from that Isaac Fayose's video that government should ban Dom accounts. It will be the height of illegality and irresponsibility to even consider such. They have to start by making it illegal to open a dom account in Nigeria. When I saw the source of the news, I knew it was political 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 10:01am On Feb 03 |
unite4real: It is not an understatement that Nigeria is broke and in heavy deficit. The idea of confiscating Dom account was first muted at the twilight of GEJ administration, the move resurfaced at the peak of way and mean of Buhari feudalism. Now, external reserve is depleted, population is balooing, heavy restrictions on Naira card foreign exposure, low participation of foreign investors in Nigeria economy, backlog of verified Forex dated to the twilight of Buhari regime, diminishing interest in depositing physical cash in Bank, people are on currency conversion spree, leading to more scarcity of dollars. The video released by Fayose brother was an expo to what is incubating in Nigeria highest place and covens of financial principality. Putting 1+1 together, government might be forced to do it, but it will backfire. 3 Likes |
