The government's policy requires the person to be working for the company 41 weeks before the EDD to be entitled to statutory maternity pay (SMP). SMP is 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks and then £172.48 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks.
However, some generous employers pay more than this. Some employers pay full salary for 6-9 months. She should check the company's maternity policy.

Please I need some advice, I have been waiting for COS from my place of work since November 2023, which I have continously followed up with emails on several occasions with the HR, infact I have filled the COS form since November. The issue I have now is that my current student visa expires feb 13th, I spoke with the HR last week about this and he said they were working on it. My husband is currently on 1yr sponsorship visa, is it advisable to apply as his dependent or I should apply for postgraduate visa while still waiting for my COS.

You are spoilt for choice.
You can apply as dependant.
You can apply for PSW visa.

A bird 🦅 in hand is worth 2 in Sambisa forest.🌳
If it’s me. I will complete the PSW visa application form, but not click submit yet.
Then at 11:55pm on the day my current bisa expires, I will check one last time if the CoSi have been promised has landed. If it hasn’t, I will pay for, and submit the PSW application.

I certainly hope they do. At the moment, our population is increasing nicely due to immigration but that is not a sustainable policy. We need to encourage childbirth too.

Otherwise, the whole structure of the welfare state will collapse and none of the millennials will ever receive a pension. Its already being noised about that pension age might be increased to 71.

Pensions depend on having sufficient people of working age.

Thanks. Does my employer have to pay for immigration skills charge if I am on PSW visa when I switch to skilled worker visa?

I have missed or go late to meetings before because of this thing.

I guess it was an exaggeration, a week to or minimum three days before is safe. After all application can be withdrawn before it is acted upon.

Don't play. I read somewhere of someone who was arrested recently because they were sitting in the driver's seat of the car and drunk. The car wasn't even turned on. Key wasn't in the ignition, he was likely going to commit the crime I suppose and that was enough to have him arrested.

Eye test is free in specsavers

It is not free unless you qualify for NHS funded treatment on the basis of your age or a chronic medical condition, in which case you would be required to provide proof.

I think Specsavers might waive their eye or vision tests cost if you purchase glasses from them or enrol on their contact lenses scheme, but I'm not sure of their current policy.

This eye problem, might be as a result of abnormalities in blood pressure........

Forget about the cost of the eye test, and book an appointment today......... The test should not exceed £30.00 .......

Health is wealth..........

Go to your GP, they will examine you and treat or refer.

That is what I did, they examined me, gave eye drop and referred me to optician in Royal Infirmary, this was a walk in and they did comprehensive eye test there.

Elders in the house.
Civil service just put my friend on the reserve list for an EO role. I want to ask on his behalf, how long should he expect the actual appointment?
People who have been on the list, how long did it take b4 you were appointed?
