The upper middle class who are supposed to be the engine of the economy only spend on lifestyle; designer clothes, holidays and schools abroad ,expensive cars , beverages and Rolexes.They add little or no value while getting so much out of the system .
Take a look at Alibaba and see all sort of Manufacuring plant and Machineries that are available for sale . Yet we import stuff that add no value .You can probably build to 200 small factories for the price of 100 cars parked in front of a church in Lekki on sunday.

Food security is another one . How did we manage to acquire an unhealthy taste for foreign food like rice which we do not have the geographical advantage to mass produce while ignoring our local food.

Why are citizens protecting the civil service when much of it is simply not adding any value . The salaries of civil servants and politicians consumes much of our national budget.

Cardoso is a victim of politicization of appraisal of CBN performance.
The performances of all CBN governors has historically correlated with the petrol dollar availability. To me, Emefiele was the only guy who performed beyond the level of available petrodollar in his time. All other governors of the CBN were simply lucky to have the dollar available.

Being CBN governor at a time of rapidly increasing oil prices, which comes with increasing forex inflow, is different from being governor at a time of oil prices being stagnant or falling and your predecessor ran forex reserves low and printed naira to support government spending. Oil prices were lower during OBJ's era than now but that is irrelevant. What matters is that they were much higher, and rapidly increasing, compared to the preceding 2 decades. That's part of why things felt better for Nigerians.

Buhari didn't actually push Nigeria to the wall as Tinubu has done so far. He met Petrol above official price of 87 Naira and unofficial price of 250 and left it at official price of 185 and unofficial price of average 200 Naira as at May last year. Tinubu in 1 week increased it officially from 185 to 400 and in 6 months increased it to 591 and unofficial average 700 Naira. Buhari managed Nigeria better than Tinubu in everything.

You must be daft to pour this emotional hatred against North. If we are hypocrite we would vote for Atiku but we rejected him for Tinubu.

Remember, there was never Administration without history of corruption and policy setbacks but Jonathan inherited $34b foreign reserve from Yar'adua but at the end of his tenure he spent 5 months borrowing to pay Salaries and left degraded foreign reserve at $28b. When Buhari came in he improved the foreign reserve and left it at $34b, we are no longer borrowing to pay Salaries irrespective of the economic situation and the Administration was affected by 2 recessions which were eminent as Ngozi was quoted to have been warning Jonathan and later affected by COVID-19.

4. Warri-Itakp rail cost $3.9b and right now brings N6b annually in revenue before e-ticketing which will defined triple the income
5. NLG Train 7 Gas cost $7b and is expected to bring billion dollars profits in oil and gas sector
6. Recently 700MW Hydro power plants is completed and cost $1.2b
7. Buhari procured 38 brand fighter jets including 12 A29 Super Tucano which cost more than $600m in 8yrs, before his administration he had only 24 fighter jets throughout our history.
8. He procured more than 200 warships and patrol boats for Navy
9. 2nd Niger bridge cost more than N406.2b
10. Procured many infantry vehicles, self propelled Howitzers, ARRV and mine sweepers, SH2 & SH5 Artillery platforms, VT-4 main battle tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, MRAPs, ST Light tanks and mountain climber bikes among billion dollars annual budget for arms and 4 operations going on across the Nation due to persistent insecurity.
FG in 8yrs is building more than 9km roads across the Nation which mostly is SUKUK funded.
So, it is clear that ours isn't a bad debt because if u don't have money u have to borrow to fund infrastructure deficit.
The biggest problem with his administration is their inability to mitigate corruption especially in CBN which led to outrageous FOREX disparity, they increased unnecessary VAT from 4.5% to 7.5% which consequently lead to inflation and their insensitivity to the sufferings of masses along many others.

Nigeria has never planned for prosperity well and our retuy to democy under Obasanjo was a perfect time for all the ongoing policies immediately after sanctions were relieved on us because of Military regime.

1) Increase in food stuff prices
It seems this Government is struggling to really understand why food prices are increasing on a daily basis.Even food stuff produced in Nigeria is becoming unaffordable
Solution:
Government must intervene by creating a short term measure to evacuate food from the hinterlands to the city
This will involve working with food logistics operators, subsidizing their operations where necessary
Also,state and local governments must remove all levies and taxes paid on food for now

2) Open Borders
This government must take a very bold move and open our borders,let people find food to eat
Even if it means subsidizing this food,then you should do it.
Government needs to know that there is a cabal in the food industry who buy and hoard food just like people hoard the dollars
Once an announcement is made of opening borders,it will restrain this group from further inflicting harm

3) Continue the Emefiele policy of money change
This government must give a specific timeline to change all the old currency
There is simply a lot of liquidity in the Nigerian Economy and we must begin to mop it up
Government should start by encouraging digital transactions,it should be gradual but with timelines
The low hanging fruits like petrol stations, supermarkets and even educational institutions should be encouraged to start migrating to digital transactions
There should be a reward system for organisations to embrace this process, Nigerians did transactions worth 600 trillion naira digitally in 2023 so the infrastructure is already there

Without first building an efficient, government-subsidized public transportation infrastructure within cities and towns and between cities, towns and states, removing petrol subsidies will always result in the kind of mass affliction that Nigerians are going through now.

CNG would lower the cost of haulage and public transportation to below the cost of transportation before the petroleum subsidy removal. CNG is way cheaper than diesel or petrol!

Therefore, fitting existing large buses and trucks with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kits within one month for instance would lower the cost of food, and food haulage from the North to the South and vice versa.

Second, price control measures have to be introduced immediately with special hotlines in each state of Nigeria to report anybody that tries to hoard food items in warehouses, and have them punished after trial in a court of law. This is not rocket science.

Third, illegal check points,used for extorting trailer and truck drivers must be removed from the roads immediately. Dedicated phone lines can be set up to report with iron-clad evidence the locations of all illegal checkpoints. These things should have been done by all the Federal and State governments in Nigeria across party lines.

Tinubu and his mediocre political appointees are only concerned about how rich they could be before the next political dispensation. All these economic grammars are strange to them..

If the country Nigeria continues in the hands of these people for the next four years, we may end up fighting a needless but inevitable war. Rebellion may broke out.
