Na for UK I see people that also want to japa to Canada. There is no place like Nigeria for me with my little experience for UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Austria.
Please shed more light...
From those I have observed online, it seems Germany is good to reside in. But what about France and Belgium?
As for Austria, I have a friend that went their doing customer care job, but I haven't really heard from him this year, I reached out to him on all social media and got him on fb but he replied casually, I wonder what the problem is. And no be say I dey ask am for money. In fact he's the one that greets me most of the time, but I just felt it's unusual for him not to reach out. I just hope he dey good.

Is it the same bank where I have families and relatives working there, but please maybe you judge by their lifestyle or they don't just reveal to you but even bank managers don't earn up to 200k every month unless by fraud
LOL. A bank branch manager earning ₦200K?? I'm beginning to think that you're a teenager. Why not just own up to the fact that you live in Zamfara and in your circle, the highest earner is on a ₦65k salary??

You are very ignorant. At my current place of work there are managers earning 1.5m after deductions monthly. Pls don't doubt or disbelieve things you know nothing about next time.

I see a lot of regret in this post! The Culture in Nigeria is wrong? What culture are you talking about?
RodgersAkpafu:
Do I regret leaving my corporate job to start over in the UK?

To be very honest with you
The answer is No
Not at all.

From what I have come to learn
Whether you will regret travelling abroad or not is contingent on WHY you left the country in the first place

If you left for the "wrong" reasons
You will regret everyday

I left the country primarily for non financial reasons
I was fed up with the culture of foolishness that permeates that country
The culture is wrong
The mentality is wrong
And I don't want to be in the midst of that
That's MY own reason

So regardless of my financial conditions here (thankfully I am not doing badly at all)
As long as the society remains the way it is
Then I am fine

The only thing that will make me regret leaving
Is if this country becomes a cultural cesspit like what I fled ; which is highly unlikely

A senior civil servant earns close to that amount... My dad before he retired was earning close to 800k per month... Federal job o...
That should be in a parastatal, definitely not in the ministry

Everywhere in the world, Civil servants do not get paid fantastic salaries.

We are talking of seasoned professionals here.

In that same Nigeria you were earning 150k Naira per month , some younger dudes are earning 2 Million Naira per month.

Will you agree with me that your narratives about Nigeria will be different? cheesy cheesy

You've misunderstood me, I wasn't making reference to what I was earning as a civil servant as a comparism to what professionals make, I was using it to reinforce the fact that things have gotten a lot worse in Nigeria over a short period of time. If I was still a civil servant in Nigeria even with career growth, I wouldn't have been able to purchase those tickets as comfortably as I did 10 years ago.

Secondly my reference to the NDIC statistic is to buttress the point that we are not as wealthy as we always claim in the net. Everyone is quoting that they know 1 person or the other earning a lot. Available statistics don't back up all the noise!

I think the bold is overly simplistic.
PS: I speak about life generally and not about any particular location.

There are lazy people who have succeeded - such is life. One bum has a contact who succeeds say at politics, and boom! Or one talented but lazy artiste pens just one song, and boom! Or forget all these. Lets be more direct. Lazy man wins the lottery - boom! Or lazy woman meets billionaire who likes her bum bum - and boom!

There are hardworking people who will die not just in poverty, but in the worst kind of desperate, wretched poverty.

Life is a mystery. Believe you me, I am not saying hard work isn't good - it's great (best when its smart work) - I am just saying life is a many-splendored thing.

Someone once said he had seen slaves go on horseback while princes go on foot.

Honestly, my dad knows a person in this situation.

He earns 1M as salary monthly and also has a side hustle which should be bringing him nothing less than 200k estimate. But the man still wants to leave 4 UK. And getting a job in the UK at the age of around 45+, isn't that almost impossible?

His wife is already there and she's doing care-job.

I still don't understand why he wants to move.

If I ever meet him with my dad before he leaves, I'll tell him "sir, you're making a big mistake!"

Well, he's still agile. I guess that's an advantage.

Some students make Β£500 in a week while doing care jobs, earning 1million in nigeria shouldn't prevent him from relocating abroad if that's what he wants. I know of a 45 years old man and others in their early 40s doing care and are living well in the UK. May be the plan he has is to join his wife in care or probably factory jobs.

No lucrative job in Nigeria except if your pay cheque is in dollar or euro.

1. Over there you can achieve $8k with double job 16hrs per 24hrs every month, ie. your N12M as at today!
2. Over there one month pay cheque can buy you a clean 10yr old car, but in your Nigeria 30yrs savings can't buy you a 20yr old car!
3. Over there you can determine to work and save $60k per annum ie your N90m, and you will @99% achieved it... but in your Nigeria at 5yrs you may not get a sustainable menial job at $20 ur N30k...
4. Over there, you don't need to bribe to get the menial job... but in your Nigeria even at bribing, you're not sure of it...
5. Over there, you lack money bcoz you are idle and lazy... but in your Nigeria, the hard working ones are in severe pains...
6. Over there you get justice from injustice, no bribe, no lobby... but in your country, justice is sold to the highest bidder...
7. Over there, the system isn't fighting against your prosperity, in your Nigeria, your system is fighting to make you poorer...
8. Over there, you pay Tax and enjoy social amenities from your tax, but in your country, your leaders enrich themselves with your taxes...
9. Should I tell you more?
10. Over there, getting menial jobs are not in prayer request, but in your Nigeria, menial jobs are subject of prayer and fasting!

The effort you had invested in your Country so far, if you had invested same in USD nation, you'd be far richer than your Excellencies and Distinguished citizens.
FOR NOW, SAY NO TO YOUR LUCRATIVE... !

This is Superb.

I need to frame and hang this comment πŸ‘πŸ‘

You will only do menial jobs for long if you japa illegally or didn’t have the right skills from Nigeria. Most people i know that came to Canada with permanent residency are doing job they were doing in Nigeria. Some of them had to start with menial jobs sha (2-4 months) before getting their dream jobs.

But there are people who still japa with visit visa or claim asylum. They don’t regret the menial jobs cos they are still able to save than what they saved in Nigeria.
how long have you been in canada n how much do you earn?

Yea, Briefly..
Graduated as a geologist in 2008, served '09. Got a job as a site supervisor 2010 and started with 35K but was 50k when I left the company in 2018. Got a high prospect job with one of the oil servicing companies 2018 and I was elated. pay was good, in excess of 300k. Then Nigeria happened. After a few months we were replaced by guys from the north (the chairman of the company is from Kano, and he literally replaced us with his kinsmen). I felt betrayed, and I made up my mind to leave, at least to where hard work is rewarded. Migrated with my family 2022 to Canada, and God has been faithful. I am not there yet, but I have hope now, I have a clear path and direction, I can plan. There are obvious challenges, but I hang on to the positives. Currently running a post grad diploma. Miss home, food, social circles, but I need the money, comfort and security too. I cant complain. Grateful to God for his mercies in all.

Please and please, if you want to japa, have the proper documentation and follow the routes approved by the government, the system will take care of you.

My 2 cents
Thank you very much. You are the only one i can perceive giving an honest response here.

Stop being ignorant, I work in a multinational bank (Head Office) and earn well above 1m monthly, then you can just imagine what the big guys in higher level earn (DM and above). Except you only associate with contract staff who earn really low. My husband works in tech and earn 7000 USD monthly, you need to associate with young people doing well in their career. I even have a friend who works in oil and gas and earns 70 000 USD yearly as bonus, excluding his salary. The day i saw his bank statement when I was helping him in his visa application, I was surprised. We are all in our early 30's.
