More like 800k nowadays. 200k can't afford you a maid and driver in today's Naija.
With 200k salary you are not suppose to even get married as a man unless your wife is bringing something almost equivalent or more to the table or else, you will definitely live like a pauper tossed about by life problems.

He should have compared £2k to 2k naira, the fact that he compared multiples of pounds to a lower factor of naira, says it all. Also if you earn 2k pounds in UK, you get access to social amenities, your life as well as your property is secured, can a 200k earned in Nigeria get such?

Onyema added that with earnings of 200,000, a Nigerian can afford a maid, a driver and other domestic staff.
Mr Allen must have been high on contaminated weed when he said this.

If you have been earning N400k in Nigeria for the past 15 year you are now a poor man in 2024 as your standard of living will drop or you will be left struggling each month with less than 15K balance

but the other part which he said are false, the driver and the maid. The person can't even buy car self and u can hardly afford to pay rent, talkless of own a house in most urban part In Nigeria

Let's be clear, you are the one talking about a minimum wage here.
£2K a month is not the minimum wage in the UK either.

Yes, I know that... I referenced that because statistically, over 50% of Nigerians earn below the minimum wage.

Trying to sell a lie that 200k earners in Nigeria live far better lives than those earning an equivalence of over 2 Million in the UK is idiotic and fallacious.

I let my 2 bed flat out for N120k a month which is N1,2m a year in PHC, so that means if you earn N200k you will not be able to afford it as you are now left with N80K to run things till month end.

Allen Onyema, please are you paying your Flight Attendants who risk their lives everyday in the air working for you in your airplanes up to N200K?

This is a stupid talk.

If your are earning 2000 pounds in UK, you can live a very comfortable life more than someone earning N200K now in Nigeria.

Once your rent is sorted, you are okay.

Food is the cheapest thing in UK.

How many people earn that amount in Nigeria. The minimum wages in Nigeria is 35k and most states pay below that.

Imagine Lekki estates selling electricity at 250-300 naira per kw.

I live in Europe - don't tell me what I know. There are so many ways to cut down cost of living in Europe and you'll still be living better than the middle class in Nigeria.

You are assuming the person has to buy a car. If the person comes from an ok family and inherited a car, that's his car na.

Talk of the devil and here he appears. Oga you are pure evil the worst set of it. the day that maid decide to kill you in other to steal your properties, we will all be here to support her and give her moral support. talk of the heart of a black man and you are just a perfect example. no single care and sympathy for that your maid. how can pay someone just N4K in a whole month in Nigeria in this present economy, baba you are pure evil.

But he his saying the truth now.
Which dirty truth. i spend over N800K monthly to feed a family of just 4 people, i do a monthly audit on my account and that is what i found out. The truth is currently anyone earning less than N500K monthly now is a very poor man.

Mr. Allen's statement is a clear indication of how far removed from the reality of life in Nigeria the elites (Entrepreneurs enjoying government patronage, politicians and their ilks) are.

He isn't aware of the true state of things.

With 80k balance, feeding of 3k per head daily(barest minimum) will amount to 90k per month. Balance can't even cover feeding.
Transport, entertainment, electricity, tax, medicals, clothes, personal development, religious and family obligation not even covered yet.
