Make una sha continue .

Una don forget say before nairabet and SportyBet there was pool . All those baba have been playing pool since 80's , 90's staking possible draws across various leagues in England and Australia . Few of them too made a fortune off it through luck while others ended up in penury.

My advice for any young or old person that's not yet into sports betting but intend to go into it is to back out. It's not as glamorous as u see people describing it that " Ekiti won 80m with 300k twice in 3 days " , " Banks won $400k with $6k stake " , etc .

Use ur money do other profitable things . The less said about the mental tension that comes with "near win syndrome " in betting, the better .
Dem go lurne the hard way.

I saw the video too. I believe it's only a matter of time before he gets arrested ; he obviously doesn't know he's committing a crime doing that

We had a former neighbour who was addicted to pool . This is not even what someone told me , it's something I witnessed .

On the day of his first daughters wedding, everywhere was buzzing and the reception was about to start only for him to be nowhere to be found. U know they used an open space where they erected tent close to the house so we heard the MC saying " eje ki baba iyawo jo wole wa " ( Let the groom father dance in ) .

After a few seconds they jumped to another item on the program when he was not forthcoming . While on an errand for my mum not too long from that time ; I saw this man coming out of the pool shop close to the place I ran the errand grin. The man had to go play that weekend game before going to do bride's father duty . U don see that kind addiction before ?

The crazy thing about pool is those baba, u never know whether they actually make money from it or not. They just remain the same

“Under capitalism, the financial sector was adjunct to the real sector. The financial sector served as the circulatory system, efficiently allocating funds to the most productive agents within the real or manufacturing sector in order to keep that sector vibrant. Such vibrancy generates employment for the bulk of the people. High levels of employment give birth to stability and a standard of living conducive to democratic aspirations.

"This complementary scenario no longer exists. The financial sector no longer is satisfied with being the branch. To a large degree, it has assumed the role of the tree and its trunk. The financial sector no longer complements the real sector. It has grown too large in comparison. Its appetite is ceaseless and grows with the eating. Instead of feeding funds to the real sector, it now chokes the real sector. Leaving many otherwise productive people and companies struggling to draw water from an empty well.

"Under capitalism, the financial sector invested in production of tangible goods. Today, the financial sector specializes in financial investment. Having become insatiable, it rather invests in itself than invest in the rest of the economy so that other sectors prosper with it. Financial speculation used to be the province of a small set of risk takers. Today, it is the fad.

"Cautious and prudent bankers were once sentinels of the financial sector. Things are different under financialism. Caution has been tossed to the four winds as the economy was tossed to the wolves. The banker who keeps his wits to function in the best traditions of banking is the exception.

"I salute those men and women who honor their professional tenets while others turned esteemed financial houses into lax casinos. However, their demonstrations of individual propriety proved insufficient to halt the systemic distortion that occurred. Today, we have a big problem”.

- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu( 2013 - culled from his Book, Financialism; Water from an Empty Well.)

Addiction is a crazy thing, i have seen young people's lives destroyed by sport betting. Reason why i was hammering on Govt to set a form of control, i read that some African countries are now taking steps to protect their citizens from the destructive addiction of sport betting. If Govt cannot ban them, they should please set some kind of control to protect our foolish get rich quick minded youth.

https://www.nairaland.com/8045985/nigerian-economy-recorded-over-1.5bn

All hands truly and can never be equal. Celebrating $1bn, meanwhile if the poorest state in the US sees only that they'll be in serious tension.

With the kind of resources and population that we have, Nigeria is supposed to have an economy of nothing else than $1.3 Trillion. The African continent is just cursed.

One thing you still dont understand that they are saying is that, Mayor can afford to go on a losing streak, alot of his followers can't.

Imagine when he went on that 1-2 month losing streak, you know how much his followers would've lost? Those that didnt have deep pocket like him might have resigned fate to the misery after losing all they had to his games.

Now that hes winning again, those followers fit no even get any money to stake again, seeing all this wins those followers can even go into debt with the hope that now that hes winning again, they can recover all they had lost, before you know it, they keep going deeper and deeper in debt and misery.

Addiction to betting can ruin lives and families because the house (bookies) will always win.

He had it coming . I don't really understand why people get emotional making unguarded utterances that can cut off their source of livelihood in this jet age.

It must be village people . He's a guy that's still coming up in his field , he should learn how to avoid controversial political matters . Had it been he's planning of remaining in the Nigerian space where lawlessness reigns supreme , nothing would happen to him. But someone on the radar of an international organization like FIFA should know when to jump and pass some controversial issues irrespective of his political leanings .

What really pained people (me inclusive) was the attitude after that tweet.
No remorse whatsoever.
NEXT time, people will be careful about what they say concerning issues like this.

that is a precendent that musk cannot appreciate, because at this core he celebrates bullying those weaker than him - he did come of age in aparthed south africa after all

it is the concept of soft power, which works far better than brute force.
the US became a world power by projecting soft power
the USSR lost by projecting hard power

even the us itself has repeatedly demonstarted that brute force ultimately does not work.
it did not work in vietnam, it did not work in afganistan, it did not work in iraq

there is a reason why people have social media handlers, though that may still not work in a nigerian context, seeing as nigerians have views that westerners - the gatekeepers may find offensive. nigerians rarely think that far ahead
