Yes. I mentioned that in one of my post. Almost all west African tribe, and I am sure Cameroun too, eat Egunsi. I have ate Eba and Egunsi(garri) from a Cameroun girl I met at university outside the country.

u don't know what you're saying.... most don't even sell ordinary efo, it's mostly efo mixed with egusi.

I think South South owns White Soup Ofe Nsala

Ooops, you didn't include Ogbono. Almost everyone enjoys Ogbono soup

If you think, then you don't know, you are just guessing. Egusi is a very Igbotic soup.

You are ignorant and that ignorance is borne out of your lack of travel and interactions with other Southerners.

Ofe Nsala is not the same as what you call South South Soup. The only white soup i know from Delta state is Egusi Soup without palm oil and thatโ€™s what they call white soup over there.

Itโ€™s only Akwa Ibom people that have something close to Nsala but they are not the same.

igbos own Egusi soup, you might not like to hear it.

As far as Nigeria is concerned, only Igbos and Akwa Ibom people have variety Soups and they are the ONLY ones who should be debating soups in Nigeria.

The rest of you should go manage what you have.
Akwa Ibom call Egusi Ikon in their native language, Igbos don't own Ikon

What of Okro, Ogbono ,Onugbo soups and Ofe akwu? They are popular Igbo soups as well.

Let me give you a tip. Any soup that has either Ogiri or Okpeyi as it's major seasoning ingredient is an Igbo soup. This is the case with the soups I listed above including the one listed by the op.

Who is inferior sir? The Igbo civilization that boast of having the most popular delicacies in Africa or the Your SW race that is trying to culturally appropriate Igbo delicacies and culture?

Which ingredients of Egusi soup is associated with Yorubas? Is it Ugu, bitterleaf, Okpeyi, Achi or Ukazi?

Today you mock Igbos as Akpu munchers, the next day you claim it's not of Igbo origin.

Elusive doesn't in any way belong to the igbos. Stop deceiving yourself. If you use ugu or whatever leaves, other tribe can also use their leaves. Yoruba has amunututu, tete, gbagba, soko etc that they can use. Stop being ethnocentric.

Even the word "egunsi" is not Igbo. This inferiority complex has been shifted to food. Oga o.

The plant is actually called Ogwusi. 'Egusi' is the 'anglicized' name.

I used to think they are South Southern soups.
My dear, they are o.

In Edo, the soup was not even called egusi by locals. My late grandma wouldn't have known what egusi meant.
It's called ogi soup in Edo. Or ikpogi (ogi seeds). It can be cooked with cotton wool leaves, scented leaves, bitter leaves, water leaf, pumpkin leaf, veg leaf, young cocoa tree (not cocoyam) leaves, etc. Can even be blended with freshly plucked oziza (black pepper) leaves depending on season and delicacy desired.

She had no idea what ugwu leaf meant. Edo call it umwenken leaf.

She did not know about ogbono. She knew it as ohere. We had ogbono/ohere trees that were like 70 years old in Edo back then. She used to dry and crack the ohere pods open.

She died in the 1970s.

When Igbo began opening restaurants, being highly migratory, and pidgin became more widespread in urban areas, you began hearing igbo names of various soups. Suddenly they say they all belong to igbo. Na wa o.
