When Egusi turn Igbo food, the name alone is pure Yoruba.

E-gun-si simply a Yoruba word, grind and cook

What is Melon called in ur language? Egusi is Igbo name and so it tells u more about who's to claim ownership

And it's called Mbika in Congo. How can it be igbo, when it's all over west and central Africa?
Some of you are just self-absorbed.

Even ewedu that people think is exclusive to yorubas is eaten all over Africa under different names, did you know that?

You didn't see Igbo dictionary posted there?

Egusi is a very general stew no tribe can lay claim to it.That is the fact.

Claim your faeces-looking oha in peace
What is egusi called in Igbo?
Egusi soup originally known in Igbo as Egwusi Soup is a popular IGBO dish in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria, Ghana, and some other countries in the region.

I wouldn't be surprised if the foods are actually calabar food but cultural misappropriation is too much in Nigeria.

SmartMen:

You are ignorant and that ignorance is borne out of your lack of travel and interactions with other Southerners.

Ofe Nsala is not the same as what you call South South Soup. The only white soup i know from Delta state is Egusi Soup without palm oil and thatโ€™s what they call white soup over there.

Itโ€™s only Akwa Ibom people that have something close to Nsala but they are not the same.

igbos own Egusi soup, you might not like to hear it.

As far as Nigeria is concerned, only Igbos and Akwa Ibom people have variety Soups and they are the ONLY ones who should be debating soups in Nigeria.

The rest of you should go manage what you have.

Ask the elders around you, they will tell you the truth that the word Egusi is alien to igboland or at best a borrowed word.
Melon in Igbo language is called Enini or Elili.
Melon in Yoruba language is called Egusi or Egunsi. You can search online for Yoruba and Igbo dictionary.
It's only Yoruba that use egusi as addictive to other soup e.g adding egusi to ewedu, okro, ilasa, isapa and various vegetables.
Yoruba also use egusi for many things like snacks e.g. robo (egusi cake), alapa (roasted egusi to prepare a kind of moi moi) etc.
