CountinBlessins: Truly!! good turn deserves another, if Nigerians can pay ridiculous price for economy ticket by this airline-cartel it ought to be a no-brainer for us Nigerians to show Air peace 1000% support for every route they ply (economy, business class ticket should be booked all through the year. cause good problem !!) . If this Arseholes foreign carrier get away with this, in the nearest future, they will do even worse. In the same vein, we hope Airpeace will continually keep up with the service it is known for (reasonable pricing to meet liveable and competitive staff compensation to avoid been poached by competition, etc ). Viva Air peace, Viva Nigeria!! |

Definitely a very big war. The European airlines have always been like this. Mostly they are backed by the governments especially when their airlines are government owned. Have you ever heard of Sir Freddie Laker and his Laker airlines? That airlines in the 70s and early 80s was the clearest example of how European competitors can use government regulation and price wars to drive some operators away from the system. Government licensed his aircrafts to land at Sanstead airport instead on Gatwick which was bigger. I remember that his London - New York route was a hotcake because of his rates. Laker Airways pioneered many new, cost-saving as well as profit-enhancing, commercial concepts and operational techniques. After unsuccessfully trying to block Laker through government regulation, the then so called giant lines, British Airways, Pan Am and TWA, quickly matched Laker's rates for their then economy-class seats. Pan Am also introduced a new low-fare alternative called budget. Sir Freddie Laker lost to unfair competition and Midlands bank took over owing to huge debts. I remember clearly a friend of his offering the man a job and the bank allowing him to retain his house and Rolls Royce car. Hopefully since Heathrow is privately owned, there should be a level playing field for all operators. However there are presently low budget airlines in operation and making success if it. Examples are Ryanair and JetBlue. 1 Like |

We shouldn't allow the behavior of the average ibo man to make us drop this kind of statement. We know that majority of them are animals in human clothing. Leo34rf: They were not trying to be competitive, they were simply trying to set a trap for Nigerian, same scenario have played out with arik in the past, Nigerian are the ones that bare the brunt The foreign airlines conspired to push out arik from UK route and as soon as they achieved it they overinflated their price thereby running a group monopoly, same is what they want to do with air peace unless we Nigerian are too dull to see As soon as the United foreign airlines successfully push out air peace they will take their price back to 3m for economy, how can the price of Nigeria to London be twice the price of Accra to London, is the distance twice far? Those foreign airlines are running a united monopoly and fortunately for them Nigerian through tribalism are enabling them In 3 years time when air peace is finally sent packing expect Nigeria-UK tickets to be around 5m while Ghana is less than 1m 1 Like |

This is what competition is about. Just do it...and the low margin, low tech transport sector isn't a real test of prowess. Nigeria needs to float the naira so all domestic producers can have a fighting chance against foreign competition. I don't know the exact mechanism but I know it for sure - the over valued naira is responsible for whatever difficulties Nigerian airlines have had in these markets. For sure. Why else is it that Arik couldn't make it? And all the others? Float the naira. Abolish all income and corporate tax. Scrap minimum wage. Abolish all fuel subsidies. Cede ownership of airports to the State Governments to promote competition. Give licensed airlines equal say with the Federal and State Governments in the operation of NCAA and other regulators of the air transport industry. Then watch Nigerian Airlines thrive. Simple. Good Luck to Nigeria. 2 Likes 1 Share |

CountinBlessins: You even have time responding to some people in this forum. You see that Jenny-wetin, helinus abi Helanus sef, those people don't deserve a single mention. Foreign countries milking your country dry without even proper refreshments, yet you are advising your home man to seek advice from them to set prices for his business. An average person is supposed to be happy and fly AIR PEACE on a daily to frustrate those airlines into bringing their prices further low, but no, "idiots have chosen to be among us regardless" Little wonder they hike prices of anything including electricity. They want to operate on foreign standards in terms of cost, but won't do that in terms of minimum wage and basic needs of the the masses. I fear the level of asslickers we have in this nation 2 Likes |
