Saudi Arabia astronomers worked well into the night of 29th of Ramadan and only announced when they were sure that the new crescent was not sighted. If it did, then 9th of April, that is, today would have been Eid Fitr irrespective of whether it is marked 10th on a calendar or not.

The month of Ramadan is 29 or 30. This varies from year to year just like the February.
If the moon is sighted on the 29 of Ramadan then the next day will be sallah and if the moon isn't sighted on the 29 then it simply means the Ramadan is 30 and the next day will be sallah.
Islam is a deen and so you can't be doing it anyhow just like other religions.

So we have 366days every 4years. So is for moon, it can be 29 or 30, go and check all Lunar calendars this year Ramadan is 30, but as a Muslim will always double sure that is why we go out for sight of the moon.

If God so wishes, he can offset the month by one day or extend it by one day, hence the 29th or 30th. No calendar can dictate to God how He disposes of His own affairs. Therefore this can only be an issue for godless and frustrated people.
