Hey my Nairaland fam.

There's this neighbor of mine,a girl in her early 20's who's still living with her parents. Recently,I got to know that that took jamb and had even written the exam. So,this morning she came to me to advise her on the next step to take since her result came out and she scored 173. First,this is someone whom I know who doesn't have any skill or handwork. Secondly,her parents aren't that well-to-do type that can see a child through any university at this moment considering how expensive the Nigerian higher institutions have become.

I told her openly that she should go and learn a skill from now till next year and can retake the jamb next year. Though she agreed to what I told her but since then,she has been behaving so cold towards me. Someone who used to respond to me jokes before no longer talks to me. And I've been wondering if what I did was wrong. Or perhaps,I should have just mind my business and let her continue with what she intended on doing.

She may be going through depression about the result. Usually women want you to commiserate with their issues and not always solve them as they already know the solution

Exactly. You are very correct. I realized women wanted to be around me more, and their irrational ghosting reduced once I stated doing what you wrote

You told her something that caused chaos to her emotions. Maybe someone has never told her dis in the manner you delivered it with all honesty and sincerity. You may not be right about what you reveal to her though because her parents might find a way to finance her. You don't really know.

But when someone come out clean and blunt without hiding anything just like you did, the other party will be terrified and pull away to have time to think about you.

Women don’t like hearing the truth; they prefer when their expectations or fantasies are affirmed. Another possibility is that she is religious and may have interpreted your statement as you wishing her misfortune; that her parents don't have hope of sponsoring her education.


It’s so unfortunate she met someone who was being honest like you.....I would have preferred that she met our Nairaland Falseprophet1 who would have given her a fake prophecy.
