Please I've bought a Splitter. I want to connect two cables to one C-Band LNB(Single solution type). My question is, should I connect the splitter to the C-Band Lnb before connecting the two cables to the splitter? Or should I connect only one cable to the C-Band Lnb, and thereafter split the signal to the two receivers? I want explanation on how to go about with the splitter. I've read from this forum that, a splitter can't be used for a satellite which contains channels that have both H/V polarisation. I'm told unless I use it for example Multi tv whose channels have only 'V' polarization. How true is this claim? I'm using the splitter for Irib channels. I welcome more expert advice and explanation. Thanks

Not even for ''H'' or ''V'' stations. It only works for one frequency alone. The frequency of the channel on the first decoder you put on will be the only frequency/channels that will show on the second receiver. The receivers need to be on the same channel line up of the same frequency for the two to work.

Why not go for a dual view C-Band lnb.

Regards.

Yes I've seen that from flysat. So what exactly does that 'FEC' mean? Does it mean with the new Fec, Irib can be received with 1m dish? Pls answer me......
FEC...which is forward error correction....is a technique used for controlling errors in data transmission over unreliable noisy communication channels...in a DTH application, if we have sufficient bandwidth that is in power limited operation we can use lower-order modulation ..in such a case low rate fec like 1/2 or 2/3 to spread out the signal can be used...

Note that FEC, can determine the minimum threshold to receive a particular signal or satellite transmission...where threshold, is the minimum %quality to lock a particular transponder from a satellite broadcast without freezing, where going below threshold means freezing..In some instances low rate fec may reduce dish size to receive a particular TP..Bearing it in mind, it does not determine EIRP of a satellite coverage ...The higher the fec rate, the higher the threshold...the lower the fec rate, the lower the threshold...where low fec rate are; 1/2 and 2/3 and high rate fec are;3/4, 5/6, 7/8 or 8/9..

Depending on some strong boxes ..like my old strong mpeg2 dvbs receiver x s series... FEC rate Threshold signal percentage/quality are as follow...

FEC RATE **** %QUALITY/CHANNEL LOCK

1/2..... ... 30% or over 30% locks Tp/channel without freezing ...
2/3..... ... 35% or over 30% locks Tp/channel without freezing...
3/4..... ... 40% or over 40% locks Tp/channel without freezing..
5/6..... ... 45% or over 45 locks Tp/channel without freezing...
7/8..... ... 50% or more will lock a Channel and no freezing...

It is more easy to lock a tp with high signal quality and low rate FEC...rather than high signal quality and high rate FEC...I hope this helps.. grin grin

Good morning house, please gurus in the house I bought 1.8m ground mount pan (strong)yesterday. I have succeeded in assembling the mount and the dish separately but I am having problems on how to attach them together and how to mount on ground. Please kindly help me on how to go about this with pictures if possibly. The joy is in doing it by oneself. I want to track Arabsat. Reply is urgently need. You can forward to my email adimek2002@yahoo.com God bless you all.

I use Supermax lnb n as for the protruding plate i later pushed it a bit inside b4 press tv could pop up. One thing that I observed with c band feed horn if am correct is dat it doesn't work on 1m dish but on 1.8 n above, Irib Varzesh is biss encryted. Google for the biss key. Tanx.

@ Prof Olenyi, I appreciate your explanation. I'm most grateful for your time. In fact, I should have sollicited your or any other Guru's explanation b4 buying this splitter. Sometimes dealers must be sincere. I asked for Dual view C-Band Lnb but the Man said he doesn't have it in stock. Instead, he insisted I could use the Splitter for the same purpose. I didn't even know both receivers can only show the same channel at any point in time. I feel cheated this time. What pains me most is that, the Man said b4 I can use the splitter, I have to buy C-Band (single solution type). So I abandoned the C-Band Lnb I was using and bought the single solution one. Now my old Lnb is lying idle. Well, they say first fool is not a fool but second fool is................. So prof Olenyi, incase I ever use this splitter, how should I connect it? Should I connect the splitter to the first receiver or? Please teach me on how I can connect the two cables to the splitter. Many thanks

I think the dish comes with a leaflet that guides you with a step by step way to fix the dish. I also faced the same problem when I bought mine. I had to fall on the that manual for close to 5 hours b4 seeing through. Go on! That is the spirit!

This really helps in abundance. @ first I considered your explanation too technical for I a layman to understand. But after reading over for 3X, I have grabbed the concept. Many thanks mr Odilebe. You, Prof Olenyi, Obnelly, Suleiman3 etc have never dishonoured our request. So sir, if I understand you well, from your explanation, Fec 2/3 will require a smaller dish relative to Fec 7/8 if the two happens to be on the same Transponder. First, what is the difference between Beam and Transponder? Secondly, Assuming I'm to track a particular satellite, which one of these Fec 2/3 & 7/8 should I use its frequency to track that particular satellite easily? I count on your usual help. Many thanks

@ Kd10, it has been long since you started trying to hunt Irib with 1m dish. Do you receive the Irib now that they have changed their Fec?

My jsc sport is 62%, this issue of splitter i dnt knw o bt am nt having d problem in channels selection it is wat i used in splitting my single cband lnb wit my neighbor, the best splitter is 4ways supermax splitter u will v dat problem when u r using 2ways splitter which u wud encounter single drop when connected to 2 receivers. How i connected is simple just 4rm the lnb i splitted it to our different diseqc switches n we r watching different channels of the same satellite.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by kwameking: 12:36pm On Sep 08, 2013
So you connected the splitter directly to the Lnb and thenafter splitted the signal from the top there to the two cables? But will it work if I split in the room. That's after I've connected only one cable from the C-Band Lnb into my room and then split with two cables from the room?

Exactly the same tin we r talking about bt use 4ways splitter cuz i v problem wen i used 2ways splitter if u tune to one channel on 1 rx d oda rx wud go red. As Gadotor wud always say, tanx.

@KD10.. We both were hunting for dis irib but av tracked it down.. My JSC is 75% and irib is 63%.. I use strong lnb..my lnb is skewed at 11 o'clock.. The lnb is pushed inside the lnb holder...that is the hollow part were u put the dielectric plate is more potruded dan d opposite..
Hope dis will help u.
