emispackage: Good day guys... just got into houston. mehn, it was hectic. Came in with my husband. He was stamped in without stress. For me, they took me into a room for questioning o. As I told the guy I was pregnant. It was a terrifying one, esp as I saw a pregnant nigerian woman they were sending back. After waiting for a while, I was asked my intentions again. And was advised to stay away from any form of Govt funding and to keep all my receipts. With wat I experienced today, I don't think going wit ur husband changes anytin o. Cos the nigerian lady was there wit her husband too. He was stamped in but was told the they wld be deporting his wife back. Good luck to all the peeps traveln soon....cheers

Na wa for Houston, this calls for serious prayer and fasting for those of us that have bought our tickets.

@Emispackage, thanks for sharing with us. Please what issues did they have with you considering you told the truth during your interview.
Any idea of the issues they had with the other lady? Please can you give more details if you can?

@Kenkelewu....Could you please give more details on your 'houston experience' at the POE? This will go a long way in helping undecided peeps in making a decision. As the Nos.1 entry point for peeps going to Elpaso is Houston....and it is noted for having cheaper hospitals compared to other cities.

Hmn, horrible experience. I was asked the purpose of my trip (I know it's a normal question at any point of entry, but I refer to this because your response is very important. It may determine what you will go through at the secondary inspection). I said I was there to spend my leave. I wasnt looking so preggers at 29wks, but I didnt over disguise either. The lady asked what kind of leave and I said my maternity leave. She asked how far gone I was and I told her. She then asked me to hold on, cos someone would check my papers.
I was there for about 7hrs without any word, until I overheard one black woman saying I'd be the 13th person they are deporting within 2 weeks and that they should begin the proceedings, that was when I began to panic. I prayed all the prayers I knew to pray, asking God for intervention. I was called in to begin deportation proceedings when I asked what my offence was. I wasnt told anything still, so I asked if coming in pregnant was a crime. The officer said no, but that my issue was more than that. I asked for clarification, then he told me that I was already pregnant before obtaining a visa.
I said yes and he said I didnt declare it at the embassy. I said the interview was short and it's believed that you only answer what you are asked. I told him to check the notes of my interview, that the closest thing to that was when I was asked if I plan to have a baby in the US, to which I responded that it was a probability. He asked why I didnt give a concrete answer and I told him that I had several reasons.
1. I had no clue what it entails cos it was an after thought. That wasnt the purpose of my visa application
2. I dont even know if it's somth I could afford as I had no info abt the cost
3. I didnt know if I was going to get a visa, cos the general belief was that when you are a Nigerian woman and pregnant at that, you dont stand a chance of getting a visa.
He said but I was asked if I plan to have the baby, I said no, he should check the notes well, it was if I plan to have a baby.
He asked for the contact details of my Dr. I said I had none, that I was trying to have a VBAC experience and I was coming in to see if it's possible. If not, I'd go back home, cos I'd have help recovering from another CS at home unlike in the US.
He said it's not possible to have a VBAC that I'd never find such a Dr cos his wife attempted to, but couldnt find one. He then asked if there was going to be any repercussion if I was deported. I said there's none, just that there's a chance I'd die cos of the high mortality rate. He said I had valid visas to other countries, why did I choose the US? I responded that being in the US is not a do or die for me, that I have options but just wanted a different birthing experience.
He asked how much I had on me, told him about 8k wt credit cards of our UK acc and 2 Nigerian banks.
He stated again that I'd never find a VBAC Dr and he left, said he had to report to his supervisor. He came back after about 15mins and told me to keep all receipts that I'd need them whenever I want to come in to d US.
I left dehydrated, hungry, tired and had the nightmares for several days, wondering what could have happened if God did not intervene

@kenkelewu,

Did you travel recently too? Was Houston your POE?

Interesting times at Houston I believe, Good luck to everyone entering through Houston. Always remember to learn from people's experience and remember we are all unique and different in our own little way, what applies to Mr A, might not apply to Mr b. safe travels and God speed.

Good day all,
Following the topic of discuss I will say we still need more info on the houston issue the last information given is not about a pregnant woman given a visa for but about a woman that has a visa before the pregnancy issue so what we are still expecting as real life matter of a pregnant womaN given visa 4 d purpose of delivery.
We would really appreciate if we can get such travelling experience around houston or any other POE.
Thank you
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by emispackage: 2:12am On Oct 28, 2013
@ Wunmi38, I was given a visa for delivery purpose cos I stated at the embassy that I was going to have my baby there.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by emispackage: 2:23am On Oct 28, 2013
@ nenih, they didn't tell me o. At the Poe, was asked wat we came for and for how long we wld stay. My husband said he was coming for vacation. He then asked bout me, we replied that we were to have our baby( as the Vo told me to say @ the embassy). He asked how long we intended to stay, my hubby replied wit 1wk, while I wld stay for 3months. He then stamped my hubby passport wit 6mnths and asked him to go forward and wait for me. He then kept my passport aside and asked a customs officer to take me in. I panicked o!!! Started praying. I think they just crosschecked my interview and adviceD I stay away from Govt aid. After giving me high BP for an hr.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by emispackage: 2:33am On Oct 28, 2013
My husband panicked too cos he was outside wit the husband of the lady to be deported. He said she was heavy wen they went for the interview. They didn't ask them if she was pregnant, that they just asked if they wld receive medicals wen they traveled and they said they had not decided yet. The custom guys just came out to tell him that his wife wld be deported. He wasn't even allowed to communicate wit his wife. He was just asked to go. I felt for him o! U guys need to see the relieve on my hubby's face wen I came out! Choi... it wasn't a pleasant experience. I tell u. Well God is faithful. For those going, just pray! God has neva failed.

@emispackage ..thank God for safe entry
@ kenkelewu...na wa @ 29wks all that stress?

@ all a friend got in through houston this morning.....she flew united @32 weeks and her pregnancy was not detected at POE. She was asked what she was there for and she said vacation and they stamped her in for 6 months. I will get more details when she is settled

Another option for houston people is to ditch united and fly delta....come in through atlanta then take a connecting flight to houston
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by wunmi38: 7:48pm On Oct 28, 2013
I am highly impress with the response am getting on the issue of houston I think if we realy get what is happening its about what you declear during interview that matter as yu can see in the case of the 2nd lady and Goods in charge but in all we need to declear what we are going to USA for.

I did not want to go with my before now but I think I should with the way things are moving even if its for the trip alone and come back aftershe selttled in then come back before returning during her delivery period.

I still need assistance as we would be applying come january and if we scale the 1st stagei know all will be well. I surely wish we have successful entry to hoston with more success.

@omofred...praiiise the lord...that is indeed divine favor! Have a safe delivery dearie

@davidango...read the thread from the first page or go to the usa tourist visa page to get more insights

@classichique...yes to all your questions...if you have more than 10k you will be asked aside to declare and maybe questioned...with big belle you dont want anything to draw attention to yourself....mastercard and visacard will work well and most hopsitals and shops if not all will have a pos machine....gd luck

Just to add some info to this, if indeed anyone decides to carry above 10k , your passport would have been stamped before any CBP officer questions you about what you intend to use the cash for. It's same procedure as declaring food . And please note, it is not illegal if you decide to carry above 10k. The big difference is, about 30 mins delay .

Do you know how your uncle immigrated?

Was your pregnancy obvious?

You said you were denied last year or so....did you declare it on the form? And on the why section...did you explain why you thought you were denied and what has changed in your circumstance since the last denial?

You and your husband should also try to visit some other countries together as a couple before applying

Thats what i can deduce from your short transcript

P.s i always fill all my visa application like i wont be given a chance to let it all out at an interview and it has always worked for me....
