Am more than happy to read this thread. Thanks to everyone who has taken it upon himself to educate us.

Am an Electrical/Electronics Engineering(Power/Machines) Polytechnic graduate who finished with upper credit(3.115/4.0) from federal polytechnic Bida about eight years ago.
I have equipped myself with IT skills over the years. I will like to know if Wes evaluation of my results could help me gain admission for a masters program in the states looking at the time difference whether in an IT related field or O/G.

And i will like to know if WES result evaluation is recognized in other countries abroad.

Thanks for your swift response as this has got me stuck for all these years.

geosegun: Anyway, I came into the tread a little bit late. but never mind. You can see my ID. I am a geologist as well as a geophyscist. You may ask me any technical and theoretical question pertaining to oil and gas issues and a bit of engineering. Be it seismic interpretation & geological interpretation, attributes generation and analysis, synthetics, velocity modelling and its applications, AVO and etc. I am the busy type but I will try as much as possible to put you guys through whatever questions you have.

You guys need to take the bull by the horn and start from somewhere. I started from geotechnical (soil test) then to water borehole drilling before going into oil/gas services. I am a geoscience trainer by profession and would like to pass the knowledge I have across.

Do not hesitate to ask questions about Seismic stratigraphy, depositional environment. simplification of the Niger delta basin. Depth conversion. Amplitude data and its usefulness. prospect quantification, petrophysics, uncertainty and risk analysis. You want to know more about Kingdom software, I am the right person to ask. Trust me.

Cheers.
Wish you guys all the best
I am interrested in learning how to use the kingdom software, can we have a private chat via whatsapp,BBM, twitter or any other mins, will be looking forward to hear from you, thankz in anticipation for your help

labongua: It's good to have this forum of geoscientists here. OP, you did a good thing. Having gone through 99% of posts, i observe that most of the focus is on the oil/gas industry (seismics, Petrophysics etc) but with little on near surface opportunities (Near surface seismics, geotechnical services, pollution investigation etc). I would suggest that while searching for the bug pay, if you have the opportunity of landing a job or internship with indigenous companies that are into near surface geology/geophysics, grab it. Your experience will start counting from there.

I am a postgrad student of geophysics herein Naija but my 1st degree is in physics. I have coursemates who are into geotechnical services and are doing VERY WELL. Talking of petrel, well, i have 2009 and am willing to give anybody free of charge. It's 4 yrs old but you can still do your learning on it. If you can also download the free version of OpendTect, good for you.

I am based in Lagos.

Are you attending the upcoming NAPE ICE? It could be another opportunity for you to network with industry people
eejegreh@gmail.com for the petral, thanks

Hi, thanks for the invitation to ask questions, I am considering having my M.Sc thesis centered around AVO, my question is ‘How easily can I source for the kind of data I need here in Nigeria'. Which good book and software do you recommend for AVO studies, will I be able to predict my petrophyical parameters and reserve from AVO. Thanks.

you can always apply for data from any oil companies...but it take time you first get a letter from your hod in school and send it to any exploration department stating the the type of data you want on your project,if you are a member. Of nape it is easy you use your chapter coordinator to get your data cheers
