The Good News is rich and broad. The good news is not just one line, though it may be captured in many catchy one lines. The good news is about Jesus Christ, the good news is the gospel.
This thread aims to share what the good news is and what it encompasses. The good news is the light. It is what all men should know and have. Indeed in the words of the proverbs, Pro 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. Jesus Christ came all the way from Heaven to Earth to give us the good news. Bad news was the fall of man and the death that it brought in the forms of pain, sin, defeat, sorrow and suffering. Jesus came with the good news, and every man deserves to know the good news. Jesus came to save. His name means Saviour.

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

This is good news. Good news for everybody. In due time, CHRIST died FOR the ungodly. Jesus Christ died when we were yet without strength. We couldn't manage it, we had no strength for it, we were all going to die. But Jesus Christ came, and died for us. We were ungodly, helplessly ungodly, without strength ungodly. But Christ died for US. He died for our ungodliness, so that we do not have to die again for our ungodliness. The wages of ungodliness is death, but Jesus came to pay it. This is good news for all of us. This, the world ought to know, Christ died for the ungodly. And all you need to do is accept it. Oh, my wages have being paid by Jesus, i take that, i believe that, i accept that, i confess that.

How about money?
Tithe money to be exact.
How does it blend with the good news.

I mean, is the good news available to those who decide to keep their money for themselves for more useful things than to give to pastors?

no body is asking you to part with your money,
men of this age make unnecessary donation to ahawo quarters , beer palour and weed joint.

if one man rather decides to give such to a church as tithe or offerings, what is wrong with that?
Re: The Good News by Hiswordxray(m): 9:59am On Oct 30, 2014
Not just the lost but Christians need to understand the good news in order to enjoy salvation. The verse that perfectly explained salvation is Col 1:13 which says " For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son". Now that we have been translated to the kingdom of God the questions are what is this kingdom? How do you live there? who are we in this kingdom? what are we suppose to do in this kingdom? etc. This reason why the gospel is a good news is base upon the nature of the kingdom we had been rescued from and the nature of the kingdom we had been translated to. Knowing this will help you understand the Gospel properly.

The Good News is about reconciling lost mankind back to God. Its about restoring our lost relationship with God. The Good News is life. The Good News is Christ.

I agree so far with what the brethren said about the good news and I'll like us to explore this gospel in depth. First, my contribution is, the good news in the early church is what was preached by the Apostles and people who heard it had to investigate it because THE PEOPLE WHO HEARD IT THOUGHT IT WAS TOO GOOD NEWS TO BE TRUE GOSPEL because it's not what they are used to hearing.

So, in this thread, we'll be exploring the TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE good news.

2. The revelation of the good news is mostly buried in the book of Romans. If a Christian hasn't study the book of Romans, I personally doubt such understanding the good news. Just my personal opinion though.

Good. The message of reconciliation or the good news is to implore sinners on Christ's behalf to be reconciled to God.

I cant agree more. After a prayerful and painstaking study of this wonderful Epistle, my life never remained the same. This was after being a Christian for more than a decade. The Epistle of Romans is a must-read for every Christian.

when you go around shouting IF YOU DONT REPENT, YOU WILL GO TO HELL, you are technically correct, but you are NOT preaching the Good News; you are preaching another gospel.....

Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The Good News is indeed what more people need to hear. The angels were so happy with it that they sang, praising God, and saying, Glory to God. Why? Because of the good news. The good news was peace on earth, good will toward men. The Prince of peace came down to bring us peace with God. Man was on destruction and collision course, but Jesus Christ came with peace on earth. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him. He had to bring in peace, it was His mission, His calling, his goal, His Life. Jesus said "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: "
This is the good news. He saved us from God's frown.
Re: The Good News by Nobody: 10:35pm On Oct 30, 2014
The Good news is that Jesus Christ came to save the world and that there is hope for salvation and securing an eternal destiny. One would have been lost forever but Jesus came to our rescue. Jesus is the ONLY way to God alone. believe on Him
Re: The Good News by Goshen360(m): 3:00am On Oct 31, 2014
First, let us begin with What is this Good News (The Gospel)? - The too good to be true news of God

Romans 1 Expanded Bible (EXB)
1 From Paul, a ·servant [slave; bondservant] of Christ Jesus. ·God called me [ …called] to be an ·apostle [messenger] and ·chose me [set me apart; appointed me] to tell the ·Good News [Gospel].

2 God promised this ·Good News [Gospel] ·long ago [beforehand; previously] through his prophets, as it is written in the Holy Scriptures.

3 The Good News is about God’s Son. ·As a man [or With reference to his earthly life;  According to the flesh], he was born ·from the family [a descendant; L of the seed] of David [2 Sam. 7:11–14].

The Apostle was given the special mandate to preach the gospel. What then is this gospel he was called to preach, that had been promised afore hand? It is ABOUT THE SON-(of)-GOD. Are we just suppose to be going everywhere saying the gospel is about the Son God? NO!!! He said, the gospel IS about the Son (of) God. So what it is about the Son (of) God that we are suppose to be preach the good new about Him?

Follow me to:

1 Corinthians 15 Expanded Bible (EXB)

Now, brothers and sisters, I want you to ·remember [or be clear about] the ·Good News [Gospel] I brought to you. You received this ·Good News [Gospel] ·and continue strong in it [or and have based your faith on it;  in which you stand].

2 And you are being saved by it if you ·continue believing [ hold firm to] ·what I told you [ the Gospel message I proclaimed to you], unless you believed ·for nothing [in vain; or superficially; or in something of no value].

3 [ For] I passed on to you what I received, which is ·of greatest importance [or the first thing I told you]: that Christ died for our sins, ·as the Scriptures say [ according to the Scripture; Is. 53:5–6];

4 that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day ·as the Scriptures say
[ according to the Scripture; Ps. 16:8–11];

This gospel the Apostle called the gospel "is about the Son-God" was further expanded in 1 Corinthians 15 and he said, it is a three-fold in one message contained in the gospel message (about the Son-God) - The DEATH, BURIAL and RESURRECTION of the Son-God.

What is the Apostle saying? Are we just suppose to go everywhere telling people Christ died for our sins, was buried and resurrected? NO!!! So what does the Apostle meant by "died for our sins, was buried and was raised to life..."? Simply put, the Apostle was saying, God, in His Son THROUGH the death, burial and resurrection wrought a finished work of new creation to humanity and by these three-in-one finished works, everyone in Christ has a divine heritage through each act of His finished works, meaning, His death did something for everyone in Christ, His burial did something for us and his resurrection did something for us.

Acts 20:24Expanded Bible (EXB)
[ But] I don’t ·care about my own life [consider my life worth anything]. ·The most important thing [or My only goal] is that I ·complete [finish] my ·mission [task; course;  race; 2 Tim. 4:7; Heb. 12:1], the ·work [ministry; service] that ·the Lord Jesus gave me [ I received from the Lord Jesus]—to ·tell people [testify/witness to] the ·Good News [Gospel] about God’s grace.

King James Bible
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God

So, this message of the gospel was wrapped ONE GOSPEL called "The Gospel of the Grace of God" (a message including all of Him and none of us); a message of the cross (His death), a message of Baptism (His Burial) and a message of New Life (His Resurrection). Glory to God....Hallelujah!!! By God's divine Grace, I'm ready to promote this gospel of Grace to my generation.

TBC . . . It's going to be a great thread.

Do you notice the difference between Christ and Moses in that verse? E don tay wey I give you like but I give you that one. .. grin

Christ is the grace of God manifested. Moses = Given, Christ=Came. If I reside somewhere, I can send you something as gifts without showing up myself. But when I come and bring you a gift, it speaks of gift + relationship.

I will continue my contribution later.

Mar 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost, the empowerment from God. Empowerment to do His will, empowerment to fulfill His good pleasure. The beginning of the good news of Jesus. John the baptist came to tell us that the road was soon to be opened. Opened for all, opened for the thirsty. I WILL pour out my Spirit on ALL flesh . Never was there better news than the good news. The complete package of the good news contains the promise of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is available from God for ALL flesh. Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?
Re: The Good News by dein77(m): 7:08pm On Nov 03, 2014
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us; and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten Son, full of grace and truth. This is the Good News.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. TThat's the Good News.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The good news about Jesus Christ is that He is available for everyone. The POWER of God to salvation, to EVERYONE. Everyone, Jew and Greek, male and female, everyone. There are some news that is only good for a party, some other people would lose. But Jesus Christ is for everybody. His salvation is for both Jew and Greek, learned and unlearned. It is a GENERAL call, "Come unto Me, ALL that labour". God made salvation so accessible that everybody can access it. You don't have to be very intelligent or talented, you don't even have to be from a particular country or tribe, you don't have to be very rich or have connections. The good news, the power of God for salvation, to EVERY ONE. There is no excuse not to receive the good news. All you need to do is believe, every one can do that.
Re: The Good News by shdemidemi(m): 5:47pm On Nov 04, 2014
When God comes calling, all within you obey that call. You might never find satisfaction in any other thing than a quest to know who He is and for what purpose He created you.

It is a call to service, it is a call to refurbish a delabilitated mind, it is a call to be made sons of God, it is a call that sees beyond outward revelations, it is a call to believe, obey and submit to every word written to the saint, It is the good news according to the wisdom of the creator of heavens and earth.

God's power unto savation is guaranteed only in the goodnews of Jesus Christ, no where else; for He is the only way, the truth and the light.
