I just wish that people would stop running down the medical institutions because of op waiting for 2 hours in emergency. People wait for at least 4 hours in Emergency before receiving any attention in the great USA...first world country.@Topic....Babyosisi is just laying it out as it is....a bitter pill is hard to swallow. This stage of his illness need a team of specialists with appropriate medical equipment. If he needs a liver...surgery and replacement is the easy part.....follow up is the real challenge..after all...replacing an organ is not like replacing brake pads. Does anyone has political connections that can make arrangements for OP to be flown abroad? At this time politicians would do anything to show they are humane and boost their image. Just a thought. |

He further said all the 2weeks dey spent in LUTH, hamed culdnt sleep at all but as soon as they got to abk, he was attended to after which Hamed was able to sleep. But a NL here concluded he was been sedated but the broda didn't mention anything like 'sedation'. |

DJDOLA once you are awake and lucid enough to read this, there is now enough funding for UCH or Reddington. Monsieur Cramjones aka Mr F...(well the jury's still out on that) is ready to foot the balance...So you need to start liasing with Mr Cramjones to get a private ambulance out of where you are currently holed up.... cramjones: Today I will desist from talking politics and discuss something very important.
It was with immense empathy that I saw a Nairalander DJDOLA ask for help from Nairalanders in order to foot his medical bills as he lies sick in Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He looked cachectic, jaundiced and showed massive ascities. These are pointers to chronic liver disease or an abdominal tumor that possibly seeded to the peritoneum. Whatever it is, the picture is not good. If it is chronic liver disease, he can only be managed conservatively, because the only definitive treatment is a liver transplant. Everything thing for this young man looks very grim, and Nairalanders made light in that darkness by offering to help him.
I will do all I can to assist this man, if the people that have confirmed his state, can let me know how I can I can help. I will also help him by praying for him, and asking the Lord Jesus to minister to him and provide healing for him at this very trying moment of his life.
I also want to use this medium to urge all Nairalanders to go and do a Hepatitis B and C screening. These two viruses are major causes of chronic liver disease (which could be in the form of hepatocellular cancer or liver cirrhossis). A person can have it and be asymptomatic for years before a liver cancer hits. Once you have tested for this virus and you are negative for it, the next thing would be to take hepatitis B vaccine. This vaccine prevents you from getting infected. You must realize that Hepatitis B is much more infectious than HIV. You can avoid it by enuring safe sexual intercourse or abstaining completely, avoiding pricks and body fluids from others. If you test and you are positive, you have to be treated immediately. It is treated using some certain anti retrovirals and a drug known as interferon (very expensive), but you MUST be treated.
The story of DJDOLA, should awaken our governement to make comprehensive health insurance is available for Nigeria. And also it should awaken doctors and health professionals nationwide to educate their patients on the effect of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and alchohol consumption on the liver. Chronic liver disease is terminal, and that is why everyone must take this message very seriously.
DJDOLA, Cramjones has you in his prayers; and like I said, those who have confirmed should give me details so that I can help this young man.
Be blessed my brother, God loves you, stay strong, never give up!

It's a remote, farming, quite village in Oyo state.
The man/doctor is a certified medical doctor but obviously, DJ's case is not just too delicate but has also gone too far for such a place.
I understand my dear sister. If only the man had seen him today to either accept or reject them, that way we know what else to do. Now as it is, we have lost one day and time isn't on our side. |

Hello everyone, This thread has encouraged me so much. There are good people in this country. Marcjane, Caracta, God bless you for the effort. Everyone that has sent something, God bless you.
That said, I have been to Awojobi Hospital in Eruwa before and I'm certain it's a waste of time. It's a one man show, and is filled (believe me, the crowd is unbelievable, you find patient relatives lying around, under trees for days etc) with people who have more faith in that man than in proven science. It felt like something out of a book about healthcare in the 1920s. The only doctor in the whole of that place is the owner - Dr. Awojobi. He doesn't even have corper doctors. FYI: Eruwa is in Oyo State, about an hour from Ibadan if one goes via Eleyele. It's a bit longer and the road is worse if one goes through the other road that's between Ibadan and Abeokuta. There's a Polytechnic, Ibadan satellite campus not far from the hospital.
If he won't go to UCH, I would recommend Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilisan Remo. It's more expensive, but he will get what he needs. They may (not sure about this) transport him to UCH if they can't deal with a transplant themselves, or get the required personnel to their hospital to do it. I know tertiary hospitals in the southwest, and if the need arose (God forbid) I'd rather they handle things for me as their patient. 6 Likes |

It wouldn't be a bad idea if we all observe some minutes of prayers for DJDOLA while we await feedback from his brother/visiting NL member.
And, maybe we should not be quick to blame him nor his family members yet for choosing to go to the clinic centre in Oyo state, because some posts of his, above show how much he incessantly sought our opinion in this regard. He kept asking for our opinion until his family resorted to this...
We have tried our best, we wish him well and would keep believing God to heal him wholly. It's a difficult moment for all of us, really. still can't get my attention off his case since I stumbled across this thread.
