Adeyemo On the Radar Of Nigerian Authorities

Dundee United striker Ola Adeyemo is attracting the interest of Nigerian Football authorities despite only just making his debut for the Scottish Premier League side on October 3.

Adeyemo, 19, is a strong and skilful striker who has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry due to his blistering pace and eye for goal.

A dossier has been kept on the youngster and as soon as the Federation gets an all-clear regarding his eligibility and availability to play for Nigeria, he will be invited to try out with Coach Manu Garba's Flying Eagles or Samson Siasia's Olympic team.

“The NFF keep dossiers on players eligible to play for Nigeria and I am proud to tell you that we have recently discovered a young lad named Ola Adeyemo who plays as a striker with SPL side Dundee United,” a top source Close to the NFF Technical Committee told SL10.ng.

“We learnt he has been scoring goals for the Dundee United Under-20 Team and did well for the first team recently when he made his competitive debut.”

He added: “It is not an easy feat to break into a team like Dundee United. He has Nigerian blood through and through as both his parents are Nigerians though he was born in London.

“He has an Irish passport and knowing his eligibility and of course willingness to play for Nigeria is the only thing keeping his invitation to play for Nigeria.”

Adeyemo represented Stella Marris, St Patrick's Athletic and UCD before deciding to pitch his tent at the Tannadice Park this season.

They talk of Dundee United what about the 7 Nigerians with Arsenal? At least Iwobi and Apkom are good enough, we have 3 at Barca as well. These lads should be given chances with the under 17-23. We should as a matter of fact have under 17-23 home base and 17-23 foreign base.

Although I must admit part of the problem lies with CAF. We don't have enough age grade competitions in Africa.

If these players want to serve their fatherland, they should he given the chance.

The coaches should operate an open camp and let the best be selected.

Coach Manu Garba has a strong team. I trust his judgment of talents. These boys should be called and if they are better than anyone on the team, the player should be replaced.

I hope these players get fair chances.

Nigeria has enough talent to form 3 very reliable teams at all level but NFF are handicapping the coaches. Yes, I agree the coaches are sometime not good enough but the bigger blame is on the NFF and the sports ministry.

I do not know why Aneke do not get a call up since. He may not be playing for Arsenal any more but if you have seen the guy play, you will know all he needs his regular playing time ( which Wenger didn't give him ). Another very good player is Tiago Ilori of Liverpool.

We won't give these players the chances they deserve until another nation tries to compel them to play for their team.

I agree with you when it comes to the NFF. We also have the problem of the NFF members not organizing enough friendly games for all levels of the National team.

Look at how the friendly game against Ghana exposed Emem Eduok, Mfon Udoh, Sokari and Joseph Nathaniel.

The NFF needs more organization like clubs do. Having teams of U13, U15, U17 etc. Then friendly matches are needed locally and internationally.

So more empowerment of coaches and friendly games will give a lot of local and foreign base players chances to expose themselves to help the Nation and their families.

the bigger problems lies with Caf inability to organise adequate age grade competition.. But if our NFF is serious, we can follow the template of other countries like france on their national academy program, which england is currently tryin to copy n paste..

Another option is to apply for a slot with UEFA (dont tell me its not possible, so far we can convince dem of our motive), while d NFF make funds available for regular participation, cos their is no financial returns on age grade competition in europe..

We have to do what we can. We have African teams that have good young squads. Regular friendlies with these teams will give our young talents the exposure. When the team is ready, a European tour could be done. The European U21 competition will soon kick off. Manny of the European teams preparing for the competition will accept to play friendly games against our team. Especially, knowing they are going to be playing the team that won the last U17.

Before trying to organize our youth football, we need to take action to get our young stars, local and foreign who are ready to serve the nation exposed and playing.

Swedish Side Running The Rule Over Nigerian Starlets

SL10.ng understands that Swedish club Kalmar are running the rule over two Nigerian starlets before making a decision on whether or not to offer them contracts.

Chikwendu Chijioke and Christiano Daniel, who began training with Kalmar on Wednesday, have been recommended to the Allsvenskan side by a top African agent with links to the club.

18-year-old Chikwendu Chijioke, dubbed Chicharito, is primarily a winger while Christiano Daniel is a striker.

A product of FC Zion, Benin City , Chijoke is currently a free agent, and that means Kalmar will acquire him at zero cost if he is successful at the end of trials.

On the other hand, Chritiano Daniel had a short stint in Israel but he is now a Bosman player.

Nigeria Under 20 international Taiwo Awoniyi has penned a preliminary contract with the Guldfageln Arena outfit, which will become activated when he clocks 18.

Kalmar, who once had Abiola Dauda on their payroll, finished in 11th place in the 2014 season.

Mohammed's Besiktas Move Breaks Down

According to reports reaching SL10.ng the purported move of Flying Eagles captain Musa Mohammed to Turkish outfit, Besiktas, has broken down.

Mohammed signed a pre-contract with the Turkish side this year, with a transfer fee agreed once he turns 18 and signs professionally with the team.

SL10.ng gathered Besiktas called off the move due to the demands of the player's agent Abba Mohammed, who asked for extra $1m in addition to the agreed sum contained in the pre-contract.

Abba Mohammed is a Kano based FIFA agent who owns Matrix, a player transfer agency that transferred Chrisantus to Hamburg in 2007.

Chrisantus spent four years at Hamburg without making a single first team appearance, before terminating the last year of his contract to secure a move to Spanish Segunda side Las Palmas.

He also severed his links with Abba and his management team owing to disagreement over the sharing formula for his wages.

As was the case back then with Chrisanatus, Abba got Mohammed to sign pre-contracts with three different sides with a view of going for the highest bidder when he turns 18.

A Nigerian transfer newsman Muyiwa Lawal also told SL10.ng, Mohammed's practice of going for the highest bidder also scuttled the transfer of another of his client, Alhassan Ibrahim to Kalmar of Sweden.

"Musa is in a pathetic situation, same as Alhassan Ibrahim, Kalmar and Besiktas have made it known that unless both players dump Abba Mohammed as their agent, their deal is off," he said.

However both players are scared of replacing Abba Mohammed as their agent, as it might affect their chances with the Nigeria Under-20 team.

The agent is reportedly very close to Manu Garba chief coach of the Nigeria Under-20 team, who oversaw Mohammed progress from the Under-17 to Under-20.

Garba Reveals Door Is Open For England-Based Youngsters

Under 20 national team coach, Manu Garba, has revealed that the door is open for players with dual nationality to represent the Flying Eagles.

Several Anglo-Nigerian players have opted to defend the colours of Nigeria instead of England in recent times.

But the Fifa Under 17 World Cup - winning manager has stressed that the Flying Eagles hopefuls must be able to bring competition to the team, pointing out that he has an idea of how the squad he is taking to Senegal will look like.

''All the good England - based players within the age bracket should contact us and let us know they are interested in playing for the Flying Eagles. Because we already have a team, they have to foot their traveling expenses,'' Manu Garba told SL10.ng.

''They have to prove to us that they can displace the players on ground before they are selected.''

Subject to the approval of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Manu Garba will run the rule over the England - based invitees when the camp is opened in the coming weeks.

''We have submitted the programme to the Technical Committee of the NFF. Probably before the end of this month, we shall get the approval as it is still being awaited, and we will start preparations,'' Garba concluded.

It is understood that highly rated Birmingham City midfielder Viv Solomon-Otabor is one of the players that is being considered for the training camp.

Fantastic news. I hope these foreign based players show up. This is the flight way to do things. We have a team on ground, now screen players and find better ones to fill any position that has a better players.

I hope some of these foreign based lads get their chance.

Mu'Azam Might Replace Ajayi In Rijeka First Team

Nigeria Under-20 striker Alhassan Ibrahim populary called Mu'azam currently on trial at Rijeka might take the spot of Goodness Odion Ajayi if he impresses.

The 18 year old was close to joining Swedish side Kalmar untill financial disagreement between his agent Adam Mohammed and the team killed the deal.

Ibrahim's trial have seen him train with the first team at Rijeka for a month now while Odion Ajayi have been relegated to the reserve team of the second spot team in Croatia.

Nicknamed the new Kanu, Alhassan Ibrahim will be hoping manager Matjaz Kek finds him worthy enough of a spot in the first team during the winter transfer window.

Ajayi has been sparingly used by the team mostly on the bench this season no thanks to the fine form of the league top scorer Andreij Kramaric.

Last season he made 11 appearances and scored once but so far he has made just four appearances with a goal to his name in the league and two in the Europa League.

His last appearance was on August 24th,a 2-1 loss to Lokomotive Zagreb and since then he has been training and playing games for the reserve side currently campaigning in the second division.

However the rumoured winter sale of Andreij Kramaric to either Inter Milan or Borrussia Dortmund might work in the favour of both players as they might be relied upon to lead the team's attack.

Nigerian youngster interests Man City, Spurs

Arsenal must fight off Premier League rivals if they're to keep hold of young Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom.

The Daily Star says the 19-year-old, who has risen through the club's youth set-up, and impressed on loan at Brentford and Coventry last term is now hot property.

Contract

Nevertheless, he is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and is in two minds whether to sign a new deal due to the wealth of attacking options at Wenger's disposal.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton are all said to be monitoring Akpom's progress and could pounce in January.

Sheyi ojo bags brace in Liverpool win

Liverpool midfielder Sheyi Ojo was on target twice in his side’s 3-0 win over Ludogorets in Wednesday’s Uefa Youth League game played in Sofia. Ojo got the curtain raiser in the 27th minutes after heading home a cross from Pedro Chirivella from close range.
He should have doubled Liverpool's lead on the stroke of half-time, but he somehow put the ball over the bar from 10 yards after exchanging passes with Rossiter.
Liverpool kept up the high tempo and Chirivella fired wide of the far post before Sinclair sent a Corey Whelan cross over from close range.
With less than eight minutes from time, Liverpool had a chance to add a third when Canos was brought down by Ventsislav Kerchev in the area with Gospodinov stepping up to save the kick.
But the Bulgarian keeper had no chance minutes later when Alex O'Hanlon and Canos linked up to tee up Ojo to convert at the near post.

Tottenham Happy With Nigerian Starlet

SL10.ng understands that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with the representative of Musa Yahaya for the highly rated starlet to depart the White Hart Lane outfit in February 2015.

Having trained with their Development Squad since July, Spurs youth team coaches do not need a second opinion on the attacking midfielder, as the product of Mutunchi Academy has caught the eye in training matches.

''Musa Yahaya was supposed to leave London in November, but the Under 20 national team coaches did not include professionals when they named the squad for the training camp, '' a top source close to Musa Yahaya said to SL10.ng.

''He is doing well at Spurs; he has been creating a lot of goals. They are playing him in several positions, attacking midfield, defensive midfield and as left and right winger.''

The Tottenham Hotspur higher-ups are confident that Musa Yahaya will be issued a work permit when he signs professional terms in January 2016, which shows he is highly regarded by the Londoners.

''Musa will be 18 next year and Tottenham Hotspur are doing everything possible for him to play for the Under 21 team.

''They want to register him for that squad when he gets a work permit, and plan to feature him in the UEFA Youth League if they qualify for the

competition.

''He is a gifted player, so we are not scared of him getting a work permit. I'm sure he'll do well at the African Youth Championship,'' he added.

The Flying Eagles star will earn approximately £150,000 per annum in the four-and-a-half - year deal he's expected to sign in the next fourteen months.

The extra perk is that his basic wages will be increased to £225,000 per annum after making his first Premier League start.

New York City FC Urged To Go For Iheanacho

Manchester City's MLS franchise New York City FC have been urged to make a loan move for City trainee, Kelechi Iheanacho.

NYCFC are expected to loan four players from City's academy but the 18-year-old Nigeria currently only has a pre-contract agreement with the English champions, who are yet to make it a permanent deal.

Iheanacho trained with the City first team all through the week leading to last weekend's clash against Swansea City and according to Manchester City evening news, Stuart Brennan, the Nigeria has a visa that only allows him to train.

He can't be used by the team in competitive games, as he is yet to get a work permit and SkyScarpers blue columnist Michael Schwarts says he won't be a bad loan signing for the MLS outfit.

He reckoned he will be ‎a great addition to the team alongside David Villa and Frank Lampard in the team's inaugural season in the MLS.

Regarded as one of Africa's future greats in football, the Nigerian is a composed finisher with a keen vision in creating goals for others and shone in City's pre-season tour of America, ‎where he scored twice including a goal against AC Milan.

Reports claimed there is interest for his services from a host of Clubs in Europe with Belgium side Mechelen particularly mentioned as a future loan destination if he eventually signs the dotted lines for Manchester City.

The 2013 Under-17 World Cup MVP and ‎tournament golden ball winner also won the CAF most promising talent of the year award in 2013 and he is expected to be a member of Nigeria next Under-20 or 23 team.

Sokari has promised to now join the team latest this weekend, while Nwobodo is expected later Tuesday.

Hamstring

- Sokari is nursing a hamstring injury, but it is not so major and he has promised to join us latest this weekend. We expect Nwobodo to be in later today, said team secretary Auwal Aliyu Ibrahim.

- Otherwise, we have a full house and the spirit in camp is very high.
This will be Sokari’s second invitation to the Flying Eagles.

Expected

The exciting attacking midfielder has been capped by Nigeria ‘B’ team and was part of the Super Eagles training camp for the 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Congo and South Africa last month.

The Nigeria U20s had their first training at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna Tuesday morning and they are expected to train twice daily.

Akpon Hat-Trick Seals Victory For Arsenal Under-21

Anglo Nigerian Arsenal youth forward Chuba Akpom was the hero for Arsenal Under-21 as his hat-trick helped them to a 4-0 win over Brighton.

Akpom who is an integral member of the Arsenal first team with one senior appearance to his name this season and gave manager Arsene Wenger food for thought with the manner in which he scored his treble.

The 19 year old tapped in his first, lobbed the goalkepper for his second and his third came via the spot as he walked home with the match ball.

Arsenal's other goal was scored by Glen Kamara after nine minutes; an unstoppable looping shot from 18 yards.

In the game ex-Nigeria Under-20 invitee Semi Ajayi and Alex Iwobi, the nephew to former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha, were on for 90 minutes for the Gunners Under-21.

Tipped for a loan move in the winter, the England Under-19 international who is still eligible for Nigeria is yet to commit to a new deal with Arsenal leading to reports he might quit the team at the end of this season.

Already Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick is scheduled to go on a tour of Europe this month to convince players of Nigerian parentage to switch their allegiance and play for the Super Eagles.

Isaac Success played for 66 minutes, and was a constant threat for Granada as they defeated Cordoba 1-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey encounter on Wednesday.

The Nigerian forward has had six starts for Granada in the Primera Liga this term, and was handed another start as they opened their Copa campaign.

Dominate

Granada were the first to dominate, showing more attacking initiative and Success got the first shot of the game on target, but into the hands of Mikel Saizar, in goal for Cordoba.

Success forged another opening in the 24th minute, when he stole the ball and shot on the turn, but that took a deflection off a Córdoba defender and whizzed just beyond the foot of the post.

Granada didn’t realise anything from the resulting corner, but kept up their pressure and in the 25th minute, they finally got the goal their industry deserved.

Smash

Cameroonian international, Allan Nyom drilled a ball from the right, Success made the flick-on and Jhon Córdoba was there to smash in the opener from close range.

As Granada continued to insist, Córdoba held firm, although heading towards the interval, Jhon Córdoba almost had his second goal for Granada, spinning to half-volley towards goal, but Saizer standing firm to save.

Granada now take a narrow lead to Nuevo Arcángel for the second-leg, but Córdoba will be keen to turn the one goal deficit around in front of their home fans.

Birmingham City Starlet To Train With Nigeria

Former Bendel Insurance star Victor-Banks Otabor has confirmed that his son, Birmingham City midfielder Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor, will train with the Flying Eagles in January ahead of the African Youth Championship.

And he has nothing but praise for Solomon-Otabor for committing his international future to Nigeria, saying he's very fanatical about the Africa powerhouse even though he was born in England.

''He has been invited but I don't think Birmingham City have received an invitation letter yet. The Secretary told us the invitation letter is on the way, without the letter he can't make the trip,'' says Victor-Banks Otabor to SL10.ng.

''Foreign professionals will be in camp in January. The credit has to go to Viv, he's passionate about representing his father's country.

''He is fanatical about Nigeria. Whether he plays for England or Nigeria, I'm the winner. He supports Nigeria very well, I only need to guide him.''

18-year-old Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor is looking forward to the trip to Nigeria next month, and he still has fond memories of the country in a football sense.

''The last time I came to Nigeria, I was 14. I was invited to train with Kwara Football Academy by my uncle, Thompson Oliha.

''I'm happy to finally know when I will be heading to Nigeria. I am happy about attending the camp, and my club will let me honour the call-up when the invitation is sent,'' Solomon-Otabor added.

Before hanging up his boots, Solomon-Otabor's dad played for Bendel Insurance, NNPC and Eagle Oil.

He also represented the famous Hussey College Warri and Western Boys High School Benin - City in the Principals Cup.
