I used to say I can marry a lady irrespective of whether she can cook or not, but my experience recently has given me a second thought. Love can overlook some certain things, but certainly not a woman bad cooking.

Not really. Cooking is like the basic responsibility of women, even in almost all cultures worldwide. So, I think that's a minus on her scorecard if she can't.

There are some things love can't do

When it comes to marriage, love is not enough.
And it is unwise to marry someone thinking "You will change them". It can only happen if they WANT the change.
You would have to marry her perfectly okay with the fact that whether she learns or not it changes nothing, or there will be problems.

Because what if you marry her finish only to realize that she doesn't know how because she doesn't WANT to learn? or that she finds it "de-meaning" (Yes, I have heard this from a girl's mouth before. sad).

Also, no respectable female of african decent past the age of 23 can even get away with that nonsense, unless she grew up as a princess in some palace, and even THEY don't slack when it comes to how to take care of things. She would have to be really really spoilt or ignorant to not know how.

There are more important things to look out for in a lady than the ability to cook. I most definitely can marry a lady that does not know how to cook.
