@Mercylicious thanks for the compliment. I do not have any relationship with world1. All I said were testimonies from people who have had personal dealings with him. YABDI wouldn't be without him. Kudos also to all the facilitators he brought together to make the project a success. Jasper, Jethro, Kalusam and co. You guys are a blessing to our generation . I salute una. Madam Mercylicious I salute you too. We need people like you and world1 to make this nation great . This is a new dawn for Nigerian youths. So many opportunities for us in agriculture. Your wealth of experience is what we need for this movement to be successful. Please let us forget the past and forge ahead.

Land preparation still on going. Solid land preparation is the foundation of any crop farming project. Got the supply for the poultry waste.

Effective project management is also key for a successful farm project. Your workforce must be well motivated to get the best from them.

When doing your land preparation you have to put into consideration your road layout for easy vehicular movement.Harvest time should be stress free.

2015 is another year for those of us interested in setting up Plantain Plantation here in Nigeria.

It so unfortunate that alot of novice are now claiming they can setup plantain farm.

Kindly make sure you get information from a reliable source.
For those that intend to use consultant always ask for his/her project portfolio including pratical farm setup, names and mobile number of satisfied client including project pictures.

Am so sorry
I want you to know that as an intending plantaing farmer your case or farm issue will be different from that of your friend based on your proposed farm location, size of farm, labour e.t.c

I will use Ogun state as a case study with 1 acre which is 6 plots for the analysis. Price might vary per location or state so this is just for the analysis.
Thanks for your understanding.

1. Land+Lawyer's fee N200k per acre
2. Land clearing is 5k per plot = 5k x 6 =30k
incase your farm land has trees then you will need to de-stump.
3. Land preparation includes farm layout, pegging e.t.c for 1 acre is N30k
4. Suckers Procurement: presently sucker is N100 FGP per one but it will surely move up by the next planting season because of demand.
5. Digging and Planting is N50 per sucker.
6. Fertilizer Procurement (NPK 50kg) is between N5500-N7000 you need 2 bags for 1000 sucker and you will apply 10kg per sucker.
7. Fertilizer Application.
8. Manure Procurement (cow dung, poultry or piggery waste)5 tonnes is needed at 50kg per sucker.
9. Manure Application.

Please I have a quick question, How many suckers can be planted on one acre of land?
The numbers can be determined by many factors
1. If you have drip irrigation you can do dense plantation of 1500 per acre.
2. If you have a livestock beside your farm or source for constant supply of manure and you can manage it then you can do high plantation of 1000 per acre.
3. Normal or say standard is 800 per acre
4. For research do 500 per acre.

.
This your question get k leg.
But I will answer part A.
If you use a good sucker you will get all you planted between 9-12 months buy note you can never get all the plantains at once.
Thanks
