No be over hypin oh. Medela is very good. Someone just mentioned Evenflo too atleast she experienced it but if u go online and read reviews u ll kno that even if others maybe good, Medela has better reviews it's just that it's expensive.

I used Tommee tippee and I had to return it cos it was not good at all

IyawoToBe:
Ok sis. Will get it then. Thought the oyinbos were over hyping it.

Hello guys,

I need urgent advise on this. You guys have been really helpful.

My self and my child have 2yrs Visa we got in 2014, we travelled in the same year and spent 2 to 3weeks. we currently in naija. While we were dere, my hubby applied for d visa for the 1st time stating he was going for a conference for enterpreneurs in a state he knew nobody. He wasn't given d visa. This was around october

What should he do?

I would advice that your husband should reapply and go for the interview just after you have gone and his reason for travelling should be that he is going to join his wife who is having a baby there. There is no big deal about it,there are people on the thread that were denied visa on 2/3 diffrent occations and were finally given ,and most of these denials were within 6months, so your husband does not have an issue.
Did you say he was denied because he was going to a state where he knew no one, what happened to hotel accomodation reservation or dint he make a hotel reservation?
I would advice him to try Abuja this time around, though i doubt it makes much diffrence anyway, but lets believe the ppl that say they are nicer VO'S in Abuja.
If he is asked about his last interview,he should be truthful and tell them exactly what transpired, because they will have it on record.
If asked where he will be staying,he should give them the same address you did, since his reason for travelling it to be with you during child birth
He should go with the Following:
Photocopy of your passport information page and visa page.
Your hospital and doctors correespondence.
Evidence to show he can afford the trip & to show ties to home country e.g. bank statements, Cof O of landed property, houses etc
Evidence to show what he does for a living e.g. letter of employment, pay slip, letter from his employer stating he is going on vacation, but if he owns his own business ,he should go with documents to prove this.

Hi,

I haven't lived in the UK for 3 years and I'm a citizen by decent.

Or am I missing something??

Riz2015:
Hi mate, I am british citizen your kid is british by decent regardless of where they born unless citizenship was earned decent, if british citizenship was acquired by decent yo can still apply to register your kids for british nationality if you have lived in UK for 3 years prior to your baby is born outside UK.If born in uk than no registration required.I am in the similar situation in terms of my wife will be giving birth in usa, because they are making it really strict for spouse visa so I thought since she has b1/b2 visa she can travel to usa and my kids will be dual national British American. As a british we don't need visa to come to usa as long as it's less than 90 days you can apply for visa waivier esta which only cost you 14 US dollars which is around 8 pounds.

It would be better once your wife gives birth register your child as british national through registration process, or instead you can apply for right of abode for your kid and apply for passport within UK, it would be easier that way.
Kind regards
Rizwan
British citizenship is not transferable to the 3rd generation if it was obtained from a parent who is a citizen.

However, the child doesn't have any benefit in terms of citizenship, the mother's bills are covered under NHS.
The child would have to remain in the UK for a minimum of 10 years or more to obtain his/her citizenship

You should have lawyer friends in the uk
Call up an immigration lawyer, that way you are 100% sure and can make an informed decision on what's best for you

If you are buying electric, pls know that US electric system is different from ours. The one my sister bought ended up getting spoilt while using with converter. Better to order from UK or check the voltage.

Also Tommee Tippee closer to nature electric one is very good.

It's xpensive yes! Bt so far it's d best i've used. I used it while in d hosp & was given d manual one & i'm enjoying it. Its sooo worth d amount if u r buyn d electric

@Demi2000 and gratefulheart88, pls for arik, I read on the website that you have to bring your medical report to them at least 48hrs b4 your intended flight. Did you both do this or did you just go to the airport on the day of your trip and check in the normal way?

demi2000:

This guy was a racist. If you see the Nigerians he brought into the investigation room. You won't believe he actually said to his colleague" imagine this one's here to have a baby" and they both laughed. A beg I know what am saying.

If she had used a step down, it won't av gotten spoilt. I don't trust all those converters

I did not use a step down with my Evenflo electric dual breast pump.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by Nobody: 12:03pm On Mar 18, 2015
The Medela freestyle advanced double electric was my saving grace when I couldn't directly breastfeed my son due to severe latching issues(severely cracked, painful and bleeding nips, forgive my tmi). It was specifically recommended to me by the lactation consultant at Del Sol Medical where I had my baby. I got it for about $270 at babies r us. I also ordered extra accessories (it has quite a number of them)b4 I left the U.S. and since I've been back, I've used it with a step down transformer and no issues. I also use the battery pack quite frequently as per NAija power issues and also use the car pack when I go to work and have to pump. In my opinion, no other pump can survive the rigors through which I've put my Medela cos imagine that ure exclusively pumping from when baby was 3weeks till now at 4months.
As per the buggy, it was extremely useful for my airport waka and connecting flights ish apart from my waka in us of course. Since I've been back, I use it for a very bumpy walk only on those days(mostly weekends) when the weather inside was extremely hot and baby is just too cranky.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Am also having mine at oakbend next month..I would like to know if you visited the hospital before you fell into labour to make payments or after delivery ?

I visited the hospital after I had my first appointment with my appointed doctor. Paid the doctor and proceeded to Oakbend to register and make payment as well.

My second trip to Oakbend was at delivery.

I don't knw of San Francisco but there's a cheap one in San Diego, Sharp Healthcare systems. There's no info on their website.
You need to get someone on ground to hook you up or go in person

1500k dollars or Naira biko? Where u buy am?
Nita2013:
I av medela swing and I got it from walmart, it's not $100 oh. I got my for $190 or so with tax but u can check d website to kno d exact cost. Also it doesn't waste time cos with mine, I get up to 300ml-400ml in 30mins max.

Medela Symphony is mainly used by hospitals. It's too expensive. Medela ffree style is very good too cos a friend has it but I felt it was too expensive though it's d two boobs u xpress from at once

Yes u need a step-down inorder for it not to burn while usin it in naija. I got a step down for 1500k and that was what I used tru out. If u want to alternate with battery, I ll recommend panasonic battery cos it lasts alot.

Pls be aware that any of d medela u buy, u av one year warranty so if any part is bad, call d medela number on d seal and they ll be glad to replace it though u ll av to send d bad part back after u receive d replacement parts.

To God be the Glory. My mother went for visa interview today, she was granted and was told to come back on Tuesday for her passport.

Thanks to good people of this thread for their help and openess, I used most of Sayoberry and Olokings experience to tutor her.

Despite the fact that she carried almost all the documents in the whole house to the place, she was only asked a copy of my visa.
She went with my birth certificate, my naming ceremony pix, 1st, 5th and 10th year birthday anniversary pix, convocation, wedding pix, my dad death cert, her retirement docs, statement of acc, doctors correspondences, hotel reservation, my confirmed ticket, and a host of others.

The interview went like this
VO- what's your purpose of travelling
Mum- To take care of my grandchild
VO- where is your child
Mum- presently in Nigeria but travelling in april( under contact, I wrote my name and d hotel address with my naija fone no- guessed he checked am still around)
VO- what do you do for living
Mum- am a retiree
VO- where is your husband
Mum- late (filled her as a widow)
VO-sorry abt that
Mum- thanks dear
VO- can I have ur daughter copy of visa
Mum- handed it to her
VO- who is sponsoring your trip
Mum- daughter has booked accomodation but am paying for flight
VO- Congratulations, pick up your visa on tuesday at Isolo.
Mum- thanks

Thanks to everybody, Phema- I dey hail o, my personal person
