Haahaahaa....Jonathan don pour sand sand inside african dictactors garri, we are looking at the cusp of an african version of Arab Spring. From Benin,Gabon,Cameroon,Uganda down to Zimbabwe most african folks will desire our version of democracy even South africa. Jonathan just brought value to the Nigerian passport.…We hereby name the coming sweeping African revolution "Jonathan spring"

Na true ooo, GEJ don put some value for that green card honestly, at least oyibo people no go dey look us anyhow for embassy and abroad.

If GEJ wanted to stay in power, he would have found a way to rig the elections. GEJ has full control of the military. The Nigerian military has been reshaped in the past five years. They are fully under his command. He is not a tyrant. He is a gentleman. Give honor to whom honor is due. He did the right thing. GEJ could have rigged the election in Benue, Kogi, and Ondo. He could have also decided to rig and win with bigger margins in Plateau and Edo. He could have also shown Jega the door two or three years ago. He didn't do any of these things. He wanted to contest, and win fair and square. He is neither a criminal, nor is he criminal minded. He appears to be kind but please don't take his kindness for weakness. He is in a position to heat up the polity, use the bully pull pit, and bring Nigeria to its knees. He chose not to. The office of the President is a powerful one. He could have truncated a lot of things but he decided to walk away with his head held up and high.

Nigeria is not the Ivory Coast. The Niger Delta has what most countries want. Russia will not hesitate to support a Niger Delta ambition especially if America is seen as supporting Nigeria. Putin came to GEJ's aide when Obama denied him weapons. We are all lucky we have a good man at the helm.

So many colleagues of different nationalities have been asking me about the elections and results. Apart from numerous British people, I have had a German, French, Malaysian and Polish talk about our elections. It seems the world has taken notice of us!

zimbabweans are crazy. democrazy is a divide and conquer tool of the west. pit opposing sides together and then they support one side against another. this is how they are able to come in and steal your resources. if your country is not a democrazy then everyone in the country is of one accord and they cant come in and divide and conquer and steal your resources.. all the countries in the world who have dictators have been unconquered by the west aka cuba, zimbabwe and libya ( until recently they conquered libya ). democrazy is a trojan horse. as soon as the west is taken down all the countries will revert back to dictatorship
grin I thought you was supporting GMB.

lol.. buh many folks hea do not appreciate wat GEJ did dey will rather hope he caused war..... esp some hate filked APC supporters..

As things stand today, GEJ is the greatest Nigerian statesman in history. He has just written his name in the same page as all the great democrats around the globe by his actions in the last 24 hrs. Unfortunately, his detractors would like to deny him even that achievement if possible.

The truth is that the destiny of Nigerians was in his hands. If he had decided to put his interest ahead, ICC wouldn't be able to do much. Assuming he fired Jega and replaced him with a stooge, we would only kill ourselves and make noise until we get tired. He could have used Boko Haram as excuse too. But this bundle of greatness, decided to honour Nigerians and place our dear country among the democratically elite of nations.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten. Posterity will be fair to him. I didn't have an ounce of admiration for him before now. I only respected his position. But today, I respect him as a person. I hope to see him someday and thank him for leading the way. He simply has raised the bar in our politics. A new standard. A new dawn.

May God bless him and his family. Pdp is simply the greatest party in Africa. I am joining them for this.

he made a promise and I don't think he would be going back on that

Politicians always make promises dont they? but they never fulfil ANY. If one says good morning to you, check outside, for it may well be nightime.
Though, I'll give it to our amiable president . He seems to be and act like a gentleman. He will relinquish power. Thumbs up to Mr President!!!

It is a very laudable move by GEJ.

But let's not forget that the master delivered serious warning to the participants before the election.

And with ICC waiting for any eruption of violence to drag Patience the Gbagbo way, why would any sane husband
react in such a way as to make his wife culpable? Not when there is a video evidence of her calling for the stoning of opposition members.
That was quite an inciting comment. So Patience just dodged the bullet on this one.

GEJ's concession was to protect his family's interest and nothing to do with the preservation of democracy.

But spin masters would always find ways to make things look good.

Congratulation to Buhari. However, He will not change anything or the system. Everything will stay the same or even worst after he complete his tenure. Yes, I said it. MARK IT SOMEWHERE

Honestly I think for the interest of Nigerians and Gej himself, he has no choice but to accept defeat! I really don't get why y'all are hyping him over accepting the fact that he got voted out! What's the big deal please? The only person that deserves our hyping and praises is God Almighty!!! We prayed to Him for peace and unity during the election and He answered miraculously! So for me, I believe God shut the doors of everything that could have triggered violence in the country which includes Gej.

Think about it. An African leader conceding defeat and resigning peacefully. Doesn't happen very often.

Ok so what? So if GEJ handed over to a goat you'll be rationalizing this same statement?

We are still like school children when the world has since graduated with advanced degrees in common sense. You don't for the sake of change pour water into you gas tank because the car hadn't been running well that week, and be high-fiving your neighbors because the gas attendant "allowed" you to do so

Bros, he could have reected the result and heat up the country. Buhari did same in 2011 and we all saw the outcome. He tried last min effort to convince Nigerians into voting him in , but not rigging th election. From a reliable source, PDP
Govs and bvigwigs are angry with him because he refused to listen to them by not interfering with the process. I learnt he insisted that he can only coinvince more ppl to his side but will never manipulate vote. He is a man of honour. No single protest in Niger Delta, just because he accepted the results and proactively appealed to his ppl.He is a man with Naija interest @ heart

Well done to Jonathan.
He is going out a Nigerian hero. He has set a marker for future sit tight rulers.
Unfortunately for Jonathan, he started doing his job 5 weeks to the election.
If he had been as proactive as he was in the last few weeks, he would probably have won.
The elections were the best ever (apart from the SE/SS).
Hopefully the flaws in the collating process will be fixed in time for the next presidential elections.

Results from the north didn't seem dodgy to you, aye?

Some may see it as weakness, some as cowardice but the man kept to his words. it takes a super-human to relinquish power in this part of the world, where winner takes all seems to be the order of the day. his congratulatory message to Pres. elect GMB, went a long way in relieving tensions across the country, and we owe it to GEJ for a peaceful electoral process and transition. kudos GEJ a leader by example, congrats GMB ...

Only in Yoruba land do they give up or surrender like that, Yoruba people are used to giving up and surrendering to go home and dance owambe (they killed abiola, Ige, Williams etc.), and yorubas just said "IPA PIN", went home and danced owambe and raped their wives, so I understand you. Other people NEVER give up, Jonathan only chose to do the right and honourable thing.
