fishleg123. The oldest pullets I've given anti-cocci to were 16 weeks at the time. So, I wouldn't say I have had first hand experience of what you are presently facing. However, given the alternatives available, I'll advice you apply some mild anti-cocci such as coccifor and embazin forte. Please, be very careful not to exceed the dosage/number of usage. Success.

haba, I know cocci since the time they were small. I knew it iwas cocci by observing their poo.
..
Is it by blood in droppings? Because mature birds hardly get cocci.

Tnx@ farmtech, but is there a scientific effect of light period being over 16hrs?

Pls no offence is intended. I'm asking this question from a practical mind approach not just based on the literatures we have all been reading.

Another reason why Im asking is because of NEPA most often they play with the power supply and that is why I decided to operate a light regime with over 16hrs, hoping +/-
the birds would still get the minimun light hour required.

We can generate off grid energy onsite for electricity using farm waste.we need not rely on NEPA.
I see the future coming when farmers will generate power on farm and sell to cities.

I read an article on duckweed. Researched it and apparently we can drop our feeds cost by as much as 50% feeding our birds duckweed. Interestingly it is very easy to cultivate. It is very high in protein, lysine etc and can be harvested every 48hrs. Just dry it up and mix with ground rice/corn/millet. Abeg no questions O! Google is ur friend. Who knows here to get duckweed?

bigiyaro. What type of birds are they? Seems to me you are describing some form of paralysis here. One disease that affects the nervous system is NCD. However, I'm confused with the aspect of whitish faecal matters. Maybe we listen to what others have to say.

curiousme:
@aAk1 Measurement can be an issue sometime but u must just master how d calculation is done. Now what ever d measurement u have y must convert to centimeter. i.e ft» m» cm. less assume we have a room measuring 30ft by 60ft we convert both to meter by dividing each by 3 (3ft=1m) then multiply by 100 that takes d result to cetimeters. ok Now multiply both result and divide by 2025 Sqcm. e. g 30/3=10m*100=1000cm while 60/3=20m*100=2000cm
1000*2000/2025= 987 birds for dat space.
Want to clarify. The 2025 SqCm is the space required for both broiler and layer using the deep litter system?

Thanks

curiousme:
@aAk1 MESUREMENT for DOC is DIFFERENT Now, like i said b4 use (2025 sqcm) for ADULT BIRD WHile U use (225 sqcm) for DOC i.e for a space of 30ft by 60ft, d room/pen will house 1000*2000/225 sqcm =8888.8888 DOC Birds for just MaX of 3 weeks.
Mind u Broilar has a different CALCULATION. both calculation is for pullet & corkrel. hope u understand.
Ho much space do layers require?

Thanks

On close examination with one of d duckweed variants on google I have definitely seen it. Infact its in my backyard when it rains. It multiplies fast when d water is stagnant and blackish green or greenish black.

Well done to all farmers in the house. Please I notice greenish dropping from my layers recently and I gave them LaSota after which the greenish dropping became more visible and dominant. Although, their production is not affected and they look healthy, only that I'm disturbed by predominant greenish dropping after LaSota administration. Is there any cause for alarm?
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 7:06am On Apr 04, 2015
samuel25. How long after has it been since you administered the Lasota? Was it with Vacci-Boost? Are you sure the vaccination didn't fail? Normally, the greenish droppings before application of Lasota should progressively clear-off after its application.

Hmm! Be very careful next time oo. Vaccinating sick birds with live vaccine can lead to heavy mortality. You could have treated with tylodox or neomycin and vaccinate 3 days after treatment.
