Its not fair on Osun no wonder Aregbesola is unable to pay worker,a state with 30 local government with 2million eligible voters getting 19billion while Ekiti with 16 local government with 800,000 eligible voters is getting almost 22 billion,GEJ you no go school oo

those figures are net allocations received by sales after their debt repayment had been deducted.

osun is in high debt so, the net allocation will definitely be small

I m not a GEJ fan, in fact I campaigned against him, no apologies. However, I feel we have unfairly blamed GEJ for all our woes these past years. Imagine the huge amount of money these governors have at their disposal! Kai! This is unfair to the millions of Nigerians who go to bed hungry amidst obvious plenty. May God reward every governor who had the opportunity to serve us and failed to do so, may their ill-gotten wealth turn to sour grapes and gravels in their mouths and may Nigeria move forward in spite of them...Long Live Nigeria! cry cry cry cry

It's far from being an outrage. Do you how much Lagos state rakes in from IGF? This is the commercial hub of the country we're talking about here, the erstwhile capital of the federation. All Lagos probably does is remit taxes to the centre.

Tell me friend, do you think it would be fair if Rivers state or Bayelsa or Delta should keep the proceeds of the oil in their 'land' and just remit taxes to the federal government? I guess not, but that is what obtains with Lagos.

The only proceeds they keep is petty change like lastma charges, vehocl tax , property tax ,corporation levy, waste disposal charges etc they don't keep port money

It's idiotic to tell us what the states getting 44% of all revenues earn without telling us what the FG which gets 56% of the revenue does with its own share.

While state allocations are meant for States entirely and as to discharge it as pleased, it doesn't mean that FG won't still spend on the states still that requires further funding.

Let us not forget, while states are responsible for their state and state only, FG is still responsible for 36 states. When they share all and you have less than 40 percent left,ow can they still spread tentacles to 36 states. These states still generates their own revenues. A state like Osun lack creativity.

We can all say what we like, but we can't understand the nitty gritties of these all. Inspite our financial wealth, our finacial responsibility is huge and complex.

People of Lagos, they said. FG has been denying federal support but with these last statistics posted by the OP, Lagos is even getting more support than 30 states. What we getting is left to our governors and executive at the states level. The question is what did they do with it?

Let's not be deceived.... Lagos will always enjoy federal presence which ever party you vote for. So vote your conscience. For me, vote PDP, vote JK. Your votes will be reward with good, transperant and enteprenual governance.

Vote for a Lagos for you...

Lagos should get no less than 500bn as we are carrying the dead weight of other states who refuse to do anything except chop money, while their people run to Lagos en mass looking for opportunity. More money must be allocated to Lagos from the other states till they get themselves right. No more slave work for Lagos. Plus we deserve 10-20% of whatever our ports bring in. That should be our own derivation
Thank you.
They just lev their state to come and overpopulate our own yet, they will still want to be dictating to us what to do

It huts real bad when we find out that this entire sum is only less than 50 percent of money available. The federal government handles over 50 percent.

*sobs

nigeria is the only country that local government are not performing at all. imagine, they collect 20 per cent of the total revenue allocation and the state goverment hijack this money to themselves. in my own area, i have never set eye on any development local govt chairman has done. and here we are, crying tp the fed govt as if they hold all the 100 per cent of the revenue. we are really suffering.

God forgive you, anyone that has been to adamasigba, bodija , oyo town etc knows for a fact the enormous population of Hausa beggars there.

Many Oyo people may be relatively poor but very hard working. I'm not even from Oyo but I lived there and know it to be true.

If this is true,i find it hard to believe. Considering the infrastructure and the high level of poverty in my state,Delta state. I find this hard to believe. I spent 15 years in the United State. The very moment I visited Delta state Nigeria I wept. I didn't spend more than 3 days there. I think Siberia is better than most states in Nigeria.

You havent seen anything at all. The level of poverty in Akwa Ibom who receives the largest allocation is untold. The state is just being over-hyped while poverty is mercilessly dealing with people and the politicians are going with the public patrimony.

And fashola will be shouting the Federal Government is not giving them anything! Bloody Lair

Fashola may not be said to be lying considering the fact that lagos in 2013 contributed 384 billion naira to the federation account. Consider the difference between the contribution and the allocation and you will agree that the statement made by Fashola could be considered truth. Lagos does not need the federal government to survive.

Are u among those that kick against a total reform of the country through the confab reports? The recommedation is to make the centre less attractive and give more power to the states. Why are u complaining? u guys voted to maintain the statue quo so let live with it for now. Our leaders dont want to work they just want to be drinking and eating crude oil. For example, If any govenor know that his salary depend on his state revenue why can't he work hard. Look at how much those states receive some countries budget and watch how the masses are suffering under billions. We need to restructure not change.

lagos is a home of all , these stupiid govt led by nincompoops. so because Lagos no get oil ,what about the port were billions com in daily

Talking about the ports, I do believe Lagos has a right to its proceeds. If only we could operate true federalism, Nigeria would be the better for it. The north would not have to rely on southern oil as they would invest massively in agriculture and animal husbandry, claiming back all those vast expanse of arid land for this purpose. The west would be world leaders in the exportation of cocoa and the like, the east would explore to the zenith its capacity for industrialisation, the south will be a mini Eldorado owing to the proceeds of its oil and the like. A utopic deam you might say but until the states stop depending on the centre for its sustainance, politics in this country can NEVER be free and fair and devoid of rancour and bitterness. True Federalism is the key even though it has its own drawbacks but me thinks the cost- benefit analysis is promisng.

the FG needs to build ports in SE/SS to allow cargoes that are to berth in Lagos to berth there. Lagos is just being burdened with ports because the FG refused to do the needful maybe cos of sentiments
