I also got the sSN exactly 2 weeks after birth.

The zero balance letter just stated that I don't owe the hospital in one line. Hope this is okay and is the letter sufficient? Or do I also require a receipt?

Thanks

does it mean that one doesn't need the SSN to process the passport and visa?

You won't need the SSN to do that.

Hello Mimikoko, thank God for everything. I have a united airline ticket, from what I can see from your post your poe is newyork. Mine is houston. Is it possible to change it? As I assumed all flying united would have their Poe at houston?
Thank you.

Hello Nwachino, I don't really know much about changing your flight. You could call your agent or the airline. The Airlines have different routes so it depends on what you want. Thanks.

So for those who have family in Los angeles. It's not as expensive as most people think if you have someone u can stay with.

Hello Ma'am,

You dont need to change pediatrician if you dont want to. It all depends on the cost. if you know a very good pediatrician cheaper than the one you used in the hospital then i suggest you change.

Regarding what you need to know post having your baby, I think most of it will come naturally to you. However, be prepared to feel harassed and shed a few tears at some point.... lol... especially when baby is crying at 2am in the middle of the night and you have tried everything in your power to make him stop. Its a phase, it will pass.

Also, dont feel too bad if your baby cries, its natural and there is only so much you can do... so just pray to have a calm spirit and do your very best. And please read...... the internet has so much material post baby and you will benefit tremendously. Infact, you will be surprised that alot of things your baby is going through is totally normal and you can get advise that can help your situation. Different people will give different advise, especially the older generation, you should be able to discern which one is good for you and your baby and which one isnt. No one knows your baby more than you do.

Where it concerns medical issues, please ask your doctor. And trust me, you will do great! There is no hard and fast rule to being a mum or parent.... its a learning process. Just be open to it and it will work out as you go along.

Cheers![/quote

Thank you sis

[quote author=somchisom post=32574317]Hello house,
In the spirit of giving back. Here is my birth story.
I gave birth to my baby girl March 17th at United memorial medical center, batavia New York through C.S. Stayed in the hospital 3 days for all. The hospital offers a 60% automatic dscount for self pay. Got my bill for 3947.69 for mother and 1407 for the child, total of 5354. Doctor's fee for ante natal and delivery was 1499.4 (I was scheduled for natural delivery with a mid wife but had to go for c-section last minute, which included a doctor in the package. The fee above also include all the meal I had for 3 days. The service was awesome, everyone including the doctor's were very friendly, nice and professional

Wow this is great news! Congratulations on your smooth delivery. Safe trip back to Nigeria.

Please I have a question, how did you do with the accommodation? Did you stay with relative or did you have to rent?

Hello good people, Please has anyone successful used Houston North West Hospital?
Kindly Holla. I have a few questions.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by chidaroy(f): 5:14am On Apr 11, 2015
How did you sort out accommodation? And what was the cost like?
Phema:

This is coming so late. Abeg no vex.

The hospital I used (MIHS) had an all inclusive package. So, same team of Doctors attended to my son all through our 2day stay. It could be different for other hospitals though.

So after you left the hospital, you didn't take him to any other pediatrician?

Yes, I didn't take him to any other Paediatrician.

Hi guys,

Finally got an appointment for my wife at Houston with Dr. Glenn Morgan

Vaginal delivery: $2000 (An additional $200 for an assistant surgeon if needed mostly for C.S
Caesarean: $2600

The hospital is Houston North West Medical Center. They have a discounted maternity package that includes:

- most lab work needed and they'll accept some standard tests done down here
- Vaginal delivery for 2 day stay is $2000.
- Epidural is $650 extra if needed.
- $100 Circumcision if having a male child.

Paedetrician's fees are different but shouldn't be much. Yet to call for those prices. We now have a July appointment with the Doctor. A typed and scanned letter was sent with the doctor acknowledging acceptance and fees to be paid by first visit.

Someone asked here and these are the details.

Congrats on the birth of your baby. I think you still need to ask them for a receipt, infact you should be given a receipt for every payment you make. You can get them to mail it to you if you have left the US already.

Have you tried calling their phone? I dont think you can book for more than a month on booking.com. you can also use your zip code to search for nearest hotel or extended stay.

Try Intownsuites.com and select their Houston location. Fee is about $270/week. You can book for just one week.

Hi Everyone.....I landed safely in the U.S. Came in through Boston POE via KLM.....it was hassle free...The CBPs didnt even know I was preggy. lol..

Anyway, I am now settled in New Jersey and have spent the last 5 days trying to get a hospital and doctor and all that important stuff sorted....I thought to bless someone that might be considering NJ....And also share my near-Heart Attack-Experience...lol.

I went to Hospital 1 in Elizabeth NJ and the hospital gave me a bill of $6,000 for vaginal and $8,500 for C-sect.I had to ask if it included the Physician fee, Pediatrician and epidural lol.( Na im the woman looked at me like "What's wrong with this babe". lol...I just kept a long face like I no send am. lol)...She said No...I am liable to pay for all those other charges and it only covers using their facility. ...I called the Doctor and he said his vaginal delivery charge was also $6,000 and C-Sect was $8,500(That totals $17,000 in the worst case scenario and does not include Pediatrician cost)..Ah! Na im sweat catch me.....I had to pack my two left legs and I moved on with my search.

HOSPITAL 2:

This was the saving grace...I was already thinking of packing my bags to El Paso lol.

I was given some doctors but finally choose Dr Fares Diarbakerli. He has a delivery Package...Please find it listed below:

VAGINAL COST

Hospital $3800
Physician fee $1500
Pediatrician $500
epidural $750 (optional)

Total cost $6550 (bear in mind that if you do not want epidural...it will be $750 cheaper)

C-SECT is an extra $2,350(The hospital charges $5000, epidural spinal $1000, Physician fee $2000, Pediatrician $900)

The good thing about Dr Fares is that he does circumcision for free(It normally costs $300), gives free prenatal vitamins(as against paying $20 for it) and does free ultrasounds on each of your visits too....If you have all your medical tests from Nigeria with you...He wouldn't need to re-do it if it is comprehensive (from an independent lab that gives well detailed results and breakdown).

He gives you a lot of one on one attention and is very patient and listens well.

I hope this helps anyone that is considering NJ....The doctor is also accessible by public transport for those who care to know.

http://njbestobgyn.com/ That's his website..just in case.

Have a blessed weekend y'all and love to all my fellow expectant mothers....May God see us through.

I let them know before I delivered that I was going back to Naija in less than a month after delivery so they could process my birth cert and bills on time.
I filled the birth cert form before I gave birth and gave them baby's name on delivery. They filled for the cert on friday, I called the county's office on Tuesday and I was told it was mailed to me the monday after that friday. I guess they used regular mail cos I didn't get it that week, went to their office the following Monday, paid 10$ for another copy which I usedto apply for her passport. I paid 165$ for the passport and got it sameday. I mailed her passport to the agent for the Naija visa for 342$ (Tanko hardly picked his calls, felt safer using a company's service). They got the passport Tuesday Morning, got the visa same day and mailed it back to me. I got the passport the next day Wednesday. I have gotten my zero balance letter from the hospital. Leaving for Naija today.
Hope this helps someone.
Please one question. The zero balance letter is just a line. Hope this is okay.
Good luck to everyone

Congrats on your delivery. Please what's the name of the doctor , email and phone contact?
