Probably because they arent deployed for Anti-poaching duties

“Although our deployment is mainly meant for Operation Corona at the border-line, my troops are alert and fully prepared to deal with rhino poachers and other crimes such as illegal border crossing and possession of stolen goods,” said Lt Col Vilakazi.

http://www.af.mil.za/news/2011/013_2011.html

Your own source destroyed your argument!

Nope, read the full story in detail ; SANDF was specially assigned to anti-rhino poaching ops, they were transferred from operation Corona which used to be their main duty, to fight a new challenge on a new task ....

"The deployment of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) at Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga Province is described as a step in the right direction by all stakeholders in the fight against rhino poaching in South Africa.

We deploy together with Rangers because they understand the terrain better,” Lt Col Vilakazi said, as he narrated a shooting incidence between his men and the poachers wherein one of the poachers died."

Funny you could not design trench for SANDF troops to use in defense against Seleka rebels instead of running to the airport for French army protection and next available flight back to Pretoria grin grin

See dude, the Nigerian army at Konduga you are criticizing has used all those things you are laughing at to defeat 20 attacks from Boko Haram battalions in a few months and k.illed over 1,000 Bokos with loss of ONLY 1 Nigerian soldier !

SANDF needs your help with battlefield drawing.....so they can go back and fight Seleka rebels in Bangui

Ahhhh !!!! See what envy and inferiority complex can do all South Africans ! Their own army and air force CANNOT show us one single current video of real life war victory.....all we see are training demos and Hollywood shows !

Perhaps the trenches were a little too elevated, narrow and linear given the environment, generally,i'll admit that the trenches were a little hastily dug by less experienced personnels{perhaps CJTF men}.

That trench has kept the whole Nigerian battalion alive for 6 months till the war ended.

Boko Haram lost over 1,000 men trying to overrun those trenches, Nigeria lost only 1 soldier in those 20 battles !

Everything works perfectly in that Nigerian base, even American army will envy us, Israeli army will come beg us to teach them how we fight .

Vice said that those men had been holding the town "since the war began" so those positions have been there for years now. They should be extremely sophisticated by now.

The MG nest being elevated makes it a nice target for recoiless grenades and easy suppression.

Ammo is a disaster waiting to happen - a stray mortar or tracer round could set it off, and a couple tonnes of explosives going off in the middle of your base during an attack is not something you want to happen. Ideally the majority would be distrubited along hard points in the trenches (so you dont have to run off to get more in battle) and the rest would be stored in a number of heavily dug in bunkers strategically located around the base.

MikeCZAR:
A single direct mortar hit destroys the whole base as the explosion will not be channelled upwards.

Just Rebels!

Unfortunately for you, all your predictions and anlyses did not happen, the war is over, 20 attacks on that same base and Nigeria won 20 times.

SANDF lost one base to just one attack from Seleka grin grin

You do know what a mortar is right? Because it don't care about terrain and they have a range of 2km for the small ones and above 10km for the big ones.

Nigerian army had artillery cover for that range up to 26 km range, play the video again.

We defeated 20 attacks on that base and killed 1,000 enemy fighters while we lost only 1.

That Nigerian base is perfect, the commandant has been promoted and medals won by those men !

A surprise mortar attack, in less than 5 minutes insurgents can throw more than 4 bombs to a position and run.

Only a fool like you South Africans will still find something to complain about just out of envy and shame shocked shocked

SANDF lost their base to Seleka in just one attack, why did you not forward your 'advisory tactic's to your country's army?

We consistently damaged a vile terrorist group.

Your Special forces couldn't help but flee against farmers and little boys with hoes and cutlasses.

The SANDF is beyond pathetic.

"Bangui - South African soldiers in the Central African Republic are seeking safe passage to the airport after taking heavy losses during fighting with Seleka rebels, Reuters reports."

"Amy Martin of the UN's humanitarian agency, OCHA, told the BBC World Service that the SA troops had retreated to their barracks and were seeking safe passage to the airport."

All evidence points to the cowardice of SANDF troops, and the vice news video provides evidence that the Nigerian military is well resourced.

A supposed South-African Special forces could not stand against petty rebels, no evidence they can stand the weight of the Nigerian military.

For us to be defeated we must have failed an objective

Which objective did we fail?

A handfull of light infantry held back pick related for 13 hours

Ineptitude at it's very height.

Radars have rear hemisphere scan/detection if you don't know !

Okay, it's not from side again, Gripen is now behind F-7 by flying spiritually like Harry Porter witchcraft?

Last time I said you Southies were talking about attacking from behind, @Patches said nobody was talking about attacking from behind.

Now 80 km away or 120 km away, it's your private imagination in your bedroom that the distance between Nigerian frontline FOB forward air base is 80 km to 120 km away from South African forward air base. Do you know what a forward air base is in war? It's not Pretoria or Abuja airport o ! It's outside airstrip in the war zone.

So what is NAF airstrip is in one city 50 km away from SAAF airstrip ? Both aircraft radar will see each other immediately they are airborne.

Your private theory of 80 km radar detection is defeated because it is just your personal wish and NOT reality of war.

Next, if we just assume for the sake of assumption that Gripen and F-7 are 120 km apart, the Gripen radar will scan the F-7, well the F-7 will not radar scan the Gripen at that range, but a normal and basic radar warning on F-7 will alert the F-7 pilot that the enemy is seeing him on radar screen.

[s]If the Gripen wants to get beside or behind the F-7 from head on course, the Gripen needs to make a full 90 degree turn aside from course, then the F-7 pilot notices a faded radar warning and he is a trained combat pilot not a fool, he knows the Gripen has made an out-flanking maneuver, thus the F-7 pilot counter maneuvers by using the altitude advantage over the Gripen, flies above the Gripen level, also banks and turns in the opposite direction and both pilots will just miss each other finally !

If they encounter again next time, the F-7 will fly into the blind spot of the Gripen radar from a long range and use the BVR missile advantage to fire 35 km range PL-9C missile into the blind side wing of the Gripen jet and convert the Gripen from metal into ashes, scattered ashes of SAAF.....airborne cremation in action[/s]
.

1. The bases had better be more than 50km apart, because the G6 has a max range of 67km. Meaning your base will be shelled into oblivion before you even have to think of Gripen.
2. What radar detection does the F-7 have?

The rest of your post is trash, not even worth responding to.
