No, a doctor for 200 troops:

Soldiers had to ask French parachutists for essential equipment, with only one doctor present, with a backpack for medical support.

Deal with the facts, the SANDF is an incompetent, poorly organised pitiful, poorly trained, poorly equipped force.

Not according to reuters who were on the ground.

- 200 men
- against 3000
- 14-18 hour battle
- 13 dead on our side
- around 500 dead on theirs
- all our objectives met
- they offered the cease fire

You wish your military could achieve that. Your whole Division of 20 000 men with tanks, artillery, jets and attack helicopters are as effective as 200 South African paratroopers, 4 12.5 HMG's and a half battery of 60mm mortars grin grin grin

Meanwhile, 1300 dead, 1,5 million displaced and a Kingdom the size of Belgium carved out in your own country. You suffered 35 Banguis!!

Uselessness of the SANDF. CAR

Pretoria - Operational commanders have painted a picture of chaos around the mission in the Central African Republic that claimed the lives of 15 South African soldiers - putting the blame squarely on the shoulders of the military’s top brass.

According to the Sunday Times, logistical blunders and feuding among military bosses led to South Africa’s ‘Mogadishu’ in March last year.

However, the military has never revealed before that all the deaths happened in a single ambush on 23 March last year when about 100 paratroopers were being transported in open vehicles through rebel territory.

Details came to light after interviews were conducted with survivors during a probe into the incident.

The newspaper reports that field commanders had pleaded for armoured personnel carriers two months before the ambush, that they had asked for sniper rifles, Rooivalk attack helicopters, Oryx transport helicopters and a reconnaissance aircraft - none of which were supplied.

Troops painted a picture of chaotic supply of weapons and equipment while dual reporting lines contributed to the logistical chaos while force commander Colonel William Dixon gave a horrific description of the lead up to the final assault that claimed the lives of the South Africans.

had become a target for reportedly helping CAR President Francois Bozize flee the country into the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the report, top structures were warned by senior SANDF officers that the CAR mission amounted to "suicide".

SA Air Force aircraft were also put on standby but due to financial constraints the Gripens were not armed with weapons with an attack capacity.

SANDF soldiers reportedly struggled on the ground due to lack of logistics and air support.

Soldiers had to ask French parachutists for essential equipment, with only one doctor present with a backpack for medical support.

The Gripens will not carry air to ground weapons when they deploying currently, as. they carry fuel tanks. They have a C-130 support aircraft carrying bombs and other stuff pods etc. They carried IRIS-T SRAAMs.

Again the SANDF had a contract with a certain charter company.

From your source: It shows the SA forces fought well and only took casualties during a ambush.

Nigeria's military doctrine entails the military is diversified.

The SANDF is an incompetent, poorly resourced , poorly equipped excuse for a military. We've seen this fact over and over and over.

Taking photos at your rand show/exhibitions or when visiting ships come around is absolutely nothing.

South-Africa manufactures APC's, but the SANDF cannot equip it troops with these APCs.

How many APCs does South-Africa have, it surely isn't up to 500.

The essentials are contained in the medbag

And will have been supplimented by the equipment held by medics on the ground

Multiple Medics and doctors were present:

Sergeant Mampa Serole Colman, Corporal Ngobese Mandla Maxwell and Corporal Nkoana Molatelo Alphina were awarded the Nkwe ya Boronse decoration for valour

13 Other members of 7 Medical Battalion group received various medals for their participation in the Battle of Bangui.

The president, for example, was decisive throughout a crisis that would have seen many other political leaders fail.

A request for assistance was received on December 29; he was briefed on the 30th; the Minister of Defence was in Bangui on the 31st; the first troops arrived on January 2.

Command and control worked as it should: force and mission commanders were appointed and – for the first time in this writer’s memory – were left alone to do their job without interference.

The minister of defence spent the critical hours in the operations room without interfering, but helping decisively at key points.

280 troops with mainly light weapons and no armoured vehicles, found themselves facing attack by about 3 000 rebels, now competently led and supported by “technicals”, 30mm automatic grenade launchers and 73mm recoilless guns and with more to follow.

Only the skill and courage of the South African troops forced Seleka to propose a ceasefire.

The situation could have been restored. The reserve was quickly deployed to jumping-off points at Gemena in DRC and Entebbe; Rooivalk and Oryx helicopters were deployed to Gemena and Gripen fighters to Kinshasa.

EVarn:
Enemies you cant see,but that you can locate. If you can neither see nor locate, then you end up wasting time, effort and ammunition.
let me break it down: an invading army from botswana marches in force against south africa,on getting to southern botswana, they stop and prepare to launch a mortar bombardment into south africa from the border town of Gaborone, they are targeting a weapon nest belonging to the SANDF,but they can neither see nor do they know where the ammo storage facility is located, they simply know that the SANDF has an armoury in the North West area.
What do you think would happen if they start launching mortars into SA?,the heavy mortars could land in Mmabatho or Rutenburg or Mamelodi or Pretoria or Klerksdorp or Soweto os Tsakane or Johannesburg or even potchefstroom!,but at the end of the day,the targetted armoury would be safe and sound.

Let's keep it as Botswana.

Before they move they will need to recon the area. Small teams will probe and scout out the terrain and enemy. So now when Botswana opens fire they know that in that general area is a SA milltary camp. There are no bases in the area. So in a suprise attack the target would be camps. These are not big and not built to be defended against a attack.

Another method is the use of a observer. The most destructive system in use by the military is the radio. Useing BH against Nigeria. A lone man could set up in a concealed postion and direct the mortar fire.

If your mortar can see the enemy then you doing something wrong.
