Nigerians Are Expecting Too Much From Me. Im Nervous - Buhari by elbinmanny(m): 12:46am On May 06, 2015
President elect, Maj. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari has said he is getting nervous as the expectations of Nigerians from him are too high. He asks there was therefore the need to sensitise all to set realistic targets.Buhari said this at a meeting with the APC governors-elect at Defence House, Abuja, on Monday.

He also lamented the poor state of the economy which has made it difficult for both the federal and state governments to meet their obligations to workers.

The President-elect was responding to pleas by the incoming governors for him to prepare a sort of bail out for states to enable them pay salaries.Buhari said, “The expectation is too high and I have started nervously to explain to people that Rome was not built in a day.

”According to him, it is sad that the nation is grappling with security challenges while the economy is lying prostrate with most states unable to pay salaries in spite of the revenue we earned from 1990 till date.

He also said, “For this to be corrected, please give the incoming government a chance. Here, I will like to recall what happened during the Abacha regime which led to the emergence of PTF.

”The former military ruler recalled that, “The Abacha regime was a military regime and it thought that the only way was to increase the prices of petroleum products, but they were not taking Nigerians for a ride.

“They could have said if Nigerians decide too riot, they have the guns and so they can have their way. They decided to tell Nigerians that they were going to increase prices of petroleum products and the money we get, we will put aside for development. That was how PTF came.”Perhaps in a veiled reference to what his administration is planning to do to mitigate the effects of the economic down turn, Buhari hinted at embarking on public enlightenment to galvanise public support for his economic policies.

The President-elect said, “This time around, under this system, to bounce back with the issue especially with the backlog of salaries which are of immediate concern to individuals and states, I think we should look for a better way to address the issue and think of how to persuade people to give us a chance to organise the economy immediately and get something to pay salaries.

”He reaffirmed his determination to give priority to securing the lives and property of Nigerians because according to him no meaningful development can take place without security.

I don't know how authentic the source is but if there is any truth to that comment Buhari should take solace in the fact that he cannot be worse than Jonathan. The task is great but the people are behind you and are cheering you on to succeed.

Firstly, the salaries of government officials including elect and non elect is quite outrageous. However, a Nigeria senator shouldn't be earning over 2million dollars per annual while a senator of a developed nation earn over 100thousand dollars per annual. Diversify our economy and replace our crude oil with agricultural and mineral produce. Declare war on corruption and give us adequate power supply and our economy will be buoyant.

In addition, I foresee no change happening because Nigeria is governed by same people, same old corrupt politicians.

so you expect APC to correct PDP wrong in less than 1 yr. buhari needs time and Nigeria support to make change. change is always slow and we should judge his government after 4 yrs. If he perform below expectations, Nigerians should vote him out. I hope he success because if he fails then Nigeria fails too

Alhaji Buhari made lots of promises during the campaign period. He promised 24/7 electricity within four years, he promised an eldorado economy, he promised to revamp the petroleum industry, he promised to end corruption, he promised to pay 25m unemployed, he promised to pay the elderly and disabled. He also promised 3m jobs annually.

Baba, we are only asking that you fulfil your electoral pledge. #No Excuse shall be tolerated.

God Help you

My bro, Prophet Ben Bruce said Buhari would soon wish he never won the Presidency and it had started manifesting even before may 29.

After the overhyped campaign, Lai Mohammed has suddenly disappeared leaving baba to face the reality alone.

When Gej was asking Nigerians to have patience with his transformation, we asked for an automatic change and Mr Lai lied his way into the hearts of gullible Nigerians.

Anyway, what can Idi Amin say but to encourage Baba to hold the bull by the horn since Gej held it by the tail. undecided

Someone tell me this news is a joke. Expecting too much from you? You're getting NERVOUS because of our expectations even when you haven't started ruling? Are you fùcking joking?

Why the hell do you think we voted you if not for the promises you made? You think if you hadn't promised us heaven on earth, we would've go through pains to vote you? You promised us many things which have been well documented. Don't come and start giving excuses, because if you had been truthful like this, i'd have stuck with GEJ. So better stop all these fidgeting and lead this country to its promise land. We've suffered enough in the hands of PDP, so better get the best brains as you promised and bring that change you preached about. No excuses will be entertained at all.

I see a lot of people have assigned to themselves by themselves, the worthy duty of loyally creating and manufacturing escuses for our president elect.
grin cheesy
I knew those campaign promises sounded too good to be true. But I must say, for the sake of honesty, the fact that he is nervous is a good sign. I mean all those others who have gotten to aso rock by promising us heaven and earth promptly forgot or completely ignored those promises as soon as they got to aso rock.
He is not there yet but he is according you all the decency of lowering all your expectations. hehe

maybe he doesn't want to leave all the 'change' advocates high and dry

Or maybe he knows that if he lowers your expectations slowly enoough, y'all won't realise it when he screws up his first term. Y'all will be too busy making up escuses for him and will be foolish enough to vote him for a second term.

when you wake up from your hypnosis, he'll be running for a third term. Only then will you realise that you've been scammed.

See the way you are typing your disjointed incoherent bunkum. No spacing at all. And you are mentioning '30trillion' , '$67 billion' and '$50 billion' that disappeared; are you the one that made it disappear? Where are you getting your fictitious figures from? So Sanusi's alleged $20 billion dollars are wrong and now you've magically made it$50 billion? Are you the CBN Governor? Or NNPC Chairman? undecided

The embolden shows you are a kid on MTN's free MB, typing with an empty cranium.
