5minsmadness:She is indeed a saint compared with what am seeing here. If she had bn anything close to what we are witnessing here, we wouldn't have lasted a week. I wouldn't have had a second thought about showing her the door. God pls protect me and my son and my generations yet unborn from such women. |

lezz:And how would that prove anything? Those who say it doesn't happen could be arguing out of ignorance. And those who say it happens could be making it up. One thing people who are not Igbos (and some modern day Igbos) fail to realise is that before the coming of the Europeans Igbos were fragmented politically and Igbo communities had little to do with one another besides their immediate neighbours. Consequently, there is wide variation in Igbo culture. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by tonychristopher: 9:02pm On May 09, 2015 |
XKZ:Simple question was asked Which comunity do women inherit fathers estate ..opls state themn Now igbo have almost same culture with tiny variations |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by XKZ(m): 5:08am On May 10, 2015 |
tonychristopher:How do you define "tiny variations"? Some Igbo communities have heriditary kingship (son takes over from father), other have a royal lineage (kingship rotates among certain families), while others practically elect their Igwes or have them appointed by the state governor. Historically, outside Onitsha, Agbor and Aro, most Igbo communities do not have kings. Is this a tiny variation? |

XKZ:brilliant , factual and honest. that's what true exchange of ideas and opinion is about. Thank you for your being mature and explanatory without coming off as an over zealous tribal bigot. I have taken so much from this short post of yours. |

Ewuro4:Ofu traditionally is a slave, an outcaste that is bought by full bloods. they are denied certain rights although their situation isn't as dire as that of an Osu. although modernity and Christianity has made them acceptable today. but the discrimination lingers. |

XKZ:Do you mean Agbor in Delta state, that is not an Igbo town and read your history well because the Obi (Dein) of Agbor is known as the youngest crowned monarch in history. He was crowned at the age of 2 and remains in the Guinness book of record as the youngest crowned monarch. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by cococandy(f): 9:27am On May 10, 2015 |
babygirlfl:i always thought agbor people are Igbo. I've a sis-in-law from there and she passes for Igbo. Even speaks it Better than I do. Hmm. We learn everyday. If people ask me to name delta Igbo regions, i always start from asaba then agbor ![]() Ok so why is their king an Obi if they are not Igbo? ![]() |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by lezz(m): 9:29am On May 10, 2015 |
babygirlfl:Agbor is Igbo alright with some touches of Bini influence. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by lezz(m): 9:31am On May 10, 2015 |
cococandy:absolutely correct. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by babygirlfl: 9:39am On May 10, 2015 |
cococandy:I don't know if it is the right way to put it but our language is part Igbo and part Bini. We bear names that sound Igbo but a little bit different like Emeke instead of Emeka. I know many people from there who will just accept to be called that maybe because they did not grow up there or they just can't be bothered with any aguement. Formally there is no such thing as delta Igbo. It's just a name that stayed after being used to describe us for a long time. For example you could never fill any official document as an Anioma Deltan and say you are Delta Igbo. |

Ok. Her name is isioma. You know that's a proper Igbo name so I took it for granted that they are Igbo. But I think you're correct about the different spellings because they tend to use the E alphabet in place of A. When she talks to her sister in their language, I can't understand a word she says but she understand every word of Igbo I speak and speaks better than me even though I'm very good at speaking and writing Igbo. I just assumed theirs was a harder dialect. Maybe not so Igbo afterall. babygirlfl: |

cococandy:Agbor is Ibo. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by babygirlfl: 10:03am On May 10, 2015 |
cococandy:I understand every word of Igbo and speak too but all my friends that are Igbo do not understand any word I speak let alone speak. We bear similar Igbo names but maybe spelt differently. Some bear names similar to bini names too and some of my friends surname sounds Bini though mine sounds Igbo. My name sounds Igbo too. Anyway, at the end of the day, we are all Nigerians. Please read this Nairaland debate as it will give you an idea of what I am saying. https://www.nairaland.com/458875/delta-igbo-bendel-igbo-what/78#16360809 |

lezz:Igbo phrase not Igbo name, I don't expect a buffoon to know that. One thing is certain, you desperately want to learn, only a f00l will oblige you. when I read the nonsense you type here, I always wonder how old you are. Guess the national adulthood limit needs to be extended to accommodate people like you. |

jpphilips:Still hurting . when i told you your problems is beyond intellectual destitution, it was no troll. you are emotionally and psychologically maladjusted. your quackery you have displayed like fried turkey in a show-glass for all to see. i told you your education never went beyond Google search. you are only an example of the time- an era where mediocrity is embolden by simple ignorance. where internet access has passed for formal education. jpphilips, the time spent on the earth is not an indication you have grown and developed in mind. you are a sore loser at best, an intellectual hazard at worse and an ignorant fraud eager to be seen teaching what he hasn't finished learning. now tell me how do you qualify someone you met in the internet whose only claim of being Ibo is an Ibo name and an Ibo phrase for her signature as an "authourity" in ibo history and culture ? How so intelligent you are yet you are ignorant of the difference between a lie and an error ? At the very height of your educational maladjustment, you claimed to know better than wikipedia and all the world's best dictionaries. i would have taken this for an honest mistake but alas, it isn't the first time you have proven to be nairaland's prince buffoon. During our tete-a-tete in the military thread where i dealt you a nasty e-cut and exposed you for the intellectual fraud you are (you have followed me here in the hopes of healing your hurts and regaining your lost reputation), you had the scruples to challenge the written works and opinion of a serving Nigerian academic professor just in order to prove me wrong. hmn. today you are also faulting wiki and current , traditional dictionaries just to get back at me. Only cheap internet and an availability of mobile phones will make a jungle crab like you cross paths with me. officially, i usually reach for a stick and allow you climb onto it like the termite you are ,and then fling you far into a virgin forestation where your only usefulness will be to eat and produce dirt in a circle of worthless evolution. It is a pity after several engagements in different threads none of my greatness has robbed off a little on you. if you are content with the tittle of being the roach on nairaland who is to say you were not given an alternative. jpphilips you belong to the dogs and dregs of society. defeat never parts company with you like stink never part with shiit!!! |

| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by Ihuomadinihu: 1:32pm On May 10, 2015 |
babygirlfl:It is ok,this is topic for another day. As it stands, Ika language is Igboid. Are you aware that all igbo groups can stand on it's own without being associated with Igbo? Anybody can wake up and denounce Igbo and nobody will kill them. |
| Re: How Do You Handle A Very Stubborn Wife? by babygirlfl: 1:37pm On May 10, 2015 |
Ihuomadinihu:I like your person and won't like us to get into an aguement because before you know it, some people will say things and try to turn us against each other. My dear lets just forget it. We are on Nigeria after all. |
