Sir, i recommend stocks based on the flow of the markets as far the forces behind it is concerned and take little fundamentals into consideration on the other hand...

Let's be careful about how we use the "Sell in May and go away" phenomenon. It is not a law in itself but a trading strategy based on historical under-performance of markets between May and November. While this strategy holds some water, it doesn't mean it must always be true. What we as investors need to do is to be aware of such phenomenon and work towards outperforming the expectations.

Remember that the economic seasons change with time and these changes are largely responsible for overall market direction. For example, if oil price stabilizes at say $70 or $80/bbl, NSE will definitely experience a boost. If the naira appreciates significantly, the market will also respond accordingly. If the new government is able to win more foreign investors confidence, the market will also rise. In such cases, if you sell in May, you will come back in November to meet a much stronger market and you would have lost out.

Check out the history of NSE stocks over the period in question and you will see many stocks that completely disobeyed this phenomenon. FO, 7UP, GTB, Fidson, Beta glass etc are all very good examples of this.

Finally, what should we do? As investors, this is the time to re-position in stocks which will guarantee enough price appreciation to weather the storm. Look out for growth stocks and stocks which are likely to go through major positive changes this season. Some obvious examples are Oando, Unilever, Dangote Cement and Mansard. Also focus on sectors that will likely receive more attention from the new government e.g. Agriculture and Industrials.

Sir, I will recommend ACCESS, UBA, UACN, FLOURMILL, TRANSCORP, and OANDO. Remember, you have to do your own due diligence and be smart enough to make a profitable decision. Decide the one that fits your priorities grin

Below 3naira? Not sure cos the market makers are loaded. Besides, they will be raising money soon. It is in their best interest to keep d price strong.

FBNH at #8.80 and below; Dangote sugar at #6.10 and below; Diamond #4.60 below, Transcorp anything below #3.20 is a good buy; cutix at #1.5; Oando is also good, what I experience during today trading, shows me that Oando might fall to #16 or #15, before moving up again, but it is a very good stock and majority has interest in it; Eterna at #2.65; julius Berger at #51.70.

"Sell In May and Go away" is a idiom but some didn't get the drift.

Well if you buy OANDO above #15naira you are on your own.

Make una dey announce dis kain news on time.

This was announced in march but was overlooked by many. See my post on 26th of March below;

Born2berich:

I hope that we are all aware about Unilever Overseas Holdings currently increasing their Equity Stake in Unilever Nigeria Plc. This might be one of the reasons for the high bid and sharp rally despite the poor dividend payout.

Source: http://www.proshareng.com/news/26454/UNILEVER-Overseas-Holdings-to-increase-Equity-Stake-in-Unilever-Nigeria-Plc-Proshare

Born2berich:

I understand you sir but lets see this from another angle.

Ask yourself why will there be a full bid on Unilever to the tune of almost if not more than 40million units today? Will you say people are buying because of the N0.10k dividend? Also note that the people involved in the equity stake are the parent company of Unilever not just a mere acquisition company in respect to that of FTNcocoa etc. The parent company intends to buy and increase their stake to the N45 mark. This is a good deal to me and i definitely would prefer to buy this stock now if chanced. So IMO, this deal might be sealed hence the spiked rally in Unilever.
