Seriously this madness going on in the church has got to stop. What are we Nigerians turning the body of Christ into?

Why on earth will a Pentecostal Church not let its members to marry a Catholic person. The moment a wedding announcement is made in the church and one of the member is from a different church denomination, you start hearing murmuring going on. Seriously this rubbish has got to stop.

Look at a church like Jehovah witness, there is nothing on earth that will make them marry an outsider, never. The same thing with Deeper Life yet these same people want to come preach for you. Seriously, we have got to stop all this.

In the book of 1 Corinthians 12:27 & Romans 12:5, the bible talked about we being the body of Christ. So it is an error for any pastor to tell any member of his denomination not to marry an outsider. We must put an end to this madness for there is no where in the bible that says a person cannot marry outside his or her church. The bible never talked about denomination, the bible only talked about the church as the body of Christ.

And to you out there that wants to get married and you are letting this issue of church stop you, I sorry for you because you be original mumu.

In case you don't know, God will not judge you on judgement day based on the church you attended but he will judge you based on your works. So don't let anybody deceive you in the name of religion. Christianity is not a religion but a way of life.

So when I carry my bag to go my preaching, then my wife will go to her church?

Or when I am teaching my children that they shouldnt celebrate Christmas and birthdays, my wife will be telling them otherwise?

Or when I wear my white garment and bare leg to go to church, my wife will go to her Pentecostal Church to sing and clap?

With all this divisions would you still call it a family?

Op, marry for your church and let other people marry for their own.

A person who would not want to be a catholic will come to marry a catholic wife!
The claims of one body in Christ is just a fallacy. If they were, the churches wouldn't be teaching different doctrines and have different practices, from one bible!

Col.3:10 'As a result, there is no longer any distinction between Gentiles and Jews, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarians, savages, slaves and free, but Christ is all, Christ is in all.'
Christians (people who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and personal Saviour, and living as Christ has instructed them) are in the same family (not denomination) and free to marry one another.
This is different from people who are 'christians' b/c they go to church or have adopted bibilical names.
Marriage is not just about 'falling in love' with someone before marriage, but being able to 'maintain the love' as long as both of you live.'
The situation here is whether one has peace and the inner conviction (witness) of the Holy Spirit that assures one that he/she is taking the right step.
Remember that there are many people in the church who claim they have been born again. This is why christians need the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God's word in order to avoid mistakes. Some christians are 'enduring' their marriages instead of 'enjoying' them. Your marriage partner, to a great extent, determines how fast or how slow you will walk with God.

I have a friend who is a Church of Christ member. Last month she came crying to me asking me what to cus she is tired of life. 5 men have proposed to her in the past 3yrs but her father says she can't marry and outsider, if she does he will disown her because the father is a pastor in Church of Christ. Now she is 28, everyone coming her way is outsider. she is now so depressed. Can you imagine that!!!!! she may stay for her life time without getting married.

If you answered No to at least 2 of the above questions, you have no reason to fight over any stupid religion.

And to think people in Europe are not half as religious as we are in Nigeria but they are far ahead of us in Everything.

Islam too has denominations mallam.
An example are the sect that worship sheik tijani inyass,the islamic scholar that also performs miracles.This man hails from senegal and died nearly 3decades ago,but yet those islamic sect worship and remembers him yearly,though 80%+ of other islamic sect dont like this sect because they feel inyass was considered to be like a god.
Christianity's own is much because everybody wakes up,get a single room and starts preaching the doctrine he/she feels as preaching,but it has been foretold that these shall be the signs of "end of time"

In as much as u r right in ur view, I still don't take dat. I'm a Muslim and so happy that I don't belong in any sect whatsoever. I'm just part of the few simple Muslims that ever is, simple to the core that I take anyone irrespective of their tribe or religion as brothers. Now, talking about Inyass, I know about those that remember him, they are Tijjaniyya, you can also call them Ibrahimiyyah or Torikas.... It depends. They don't worship Inyass as a point of correction. They only remember him. It's just like a child dat was really taken care of by his parents, that child will so much love his/her parent to the extent that even if there is anything wrong about them, he wont see it, even if he is told anything bad about them, he wont believe. That's how all this sect is, and I believe that's how it is in Christianity.

I must advise that we watch and confirm whatsoever we wanna say before putting it down... God alone knows who is worshipping HIM (that's ma believe as a good muslim) as my believe is there are so many men of God or Alfas that we look up to who might end up in Hell, who knows. Worshipping God is not about going to Mosque or Church, it's about what is in your mind, it's about what you do, it's about how u help people, it's about believing in the Almighty. Let your heart be pure, you should also be pure. Avoid the unclean.... And see if you won't have a fulfilled life.

May the Almighty help us.

@enboldened. OP, the Bible never discussed the church with regards to denomination. Christ handed over just one church to Peter.
These many churches are the creation of man in quest for material success and leadership.

You should go and ask for the registration documents of your church.....the surnames of the trustees will help you know if you are actually a christian of just an endtime mugu

You shall not be unequal yoke with unbelievers, what does the temple of God have to do with the temple of beliar? These are the relevant scriptures for not going outside to marry because many of them are unbelievers. How do you want a saint to marry a drunkard, how can a believers marry an adulterer, and how can a born again marry a womanizer? Scripturally, they are not compatible and God does not want any marriage with Jezebel, Delilah or philistines.

There is liberty in the Christian faith. When things in the church are not done properly, Christians voice out, demand for things to be done the right way. Sadly, that's not the case with you guys. Your leaders do all kinds of evil, yet everyone keeps mum. Is that not LIVING IN BONDAGE?

Spiritual compatibility is a big issue in marriage. I know you are not married else you would not have written this piece from a myopic point of view. Those of us who have been in the game for at least 10 years can tell you better.

God bless you for this post! Most people think that 'spiritual' compartibility is the same as the 'physical' one. Some christians do not care to know how their spiritual states will be like after such 'spiritually incompartible' marriages. They only 'fall in love' with the physical aspect which after marriage leads to problems and separation when they do not agree spiritually.

@ op, you are on point. Five years ago when I was about getting married, I was attending winners chapel, my husby CAC, my dad insisted we must have d wedding in Anglican, his own church and dy charged us all sorts of levies my husby got angry and threatened to report dm to CAN, it was not funny at all, we were all relieved after the ceremony but my younger sister two years later insisted on court wedding because of all the issues I had.
