This is what I said only Cameroonian can judge that devil . Ahidjo hands in hands with the French army killed over 300.000 people in Cameroon, using napalm and bombing our regions and people ? Ahidjo beheaded Ossende Afana and asked for his head as a trophy one of Africa greatest economist of his time, the bad deeds of ahidjo are too much, but we understand he was a Malian, also he is responsible tho France take most of the blame for the economic crisis that hit us in the 90s because of debts, he was also a tribalist.

In Cameroon there is nothing you can do however, my problem is I see Fulani as people who do understand nationhood and state loyalty, they are also too religious esp Muslims for my liking. Those are personal observations and analysis.

And for God sake never ever compare Ahidjo with Biya ...Ahidjo is garbage
I am not saying he was an angel , far from it but from what I read in his time he did build infrastructures and improved the livelihood of Cameroonians unlike many of his colleagues like Mubutu who not only killed great Pan Africanist like Lumumbu but also plundered the country and left it broke.
As for the 90s, it was the most messed up period since independence for many countries. It was due to the fall of the soviets and the rise of the new order with America as the superpower. A lot of things changed then.

Anyway lets move on, that is a period of time I don't even want to remember, like I said his place is in the dustbin of history. And the 90s crisis as far as Cameroon was concerned was due to state funds mismanagement, unpaid debts, low to no industrialization, which caused the IMF and world bank to step in and vandalize our country, then the currency was devaluated and the rest is history, people were earning peanuts money, lost everything in their bank accounts. And lets not forget that he organized a coup to come back in power.

Same problems in other countries too, IMF structural adjustment programs, we are all familiar with them.

They don't understand both

Most states are working toward nations esp in Africa, but I see where you are going, so lets stop at statehood

However j think politics is the horse that brings you to the promised land. Therefore he should engage in politics even if it is at the regional level and put to test his ideas and ideologies. We should not abandon politics to rogue individuals with water in their heads

How can a people not know what statehood is if they have built so many of them throughout history?
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Omarbah: 5:29am On May 31, 2015
Considering that no African state can preserve its interests in the 21 st century by working alone , going toward nationhood within the current states is suicide. Nigeria, Ethiopia and DRC if they get their act together are the few viable ones in sub saharan Africa due to land and population mass. Even Europeans are moving toward stronger integration.

that's the point or the problem regardless of the so called states they built in the past, the ones they are living in right now were not built by them, maybe that's why they live like marginals and those who participate are so entitled and believe power at the centre is theirs. They are violent in nature and are yet to come to the reality , their so called glorious past is over and now that we are multi nations states , they need to accept some of us if it was not for the white men would have never been in contact with them, we not only don't owe them anything but they are not lords and definitely didn't teach us islam

how exactly going toward nationhood is suicide ? Land mass and population are not what make a state viable except if you want to reduce viability to internal market and even if that's the case you are analogy is still not convincing as the countries you listed have all different land mass and different population numbers . Nationhood for me is adopting one language and culture as the de facto language and culture, uniting the people around that culture it is mixing all cultures to form one. Is that possible without war and subjugating smaller entities? I don't know , is that possible without dictatorship? I don't think so, however what I know is nationhood building process means people giving up a lot of what they think are important to them or make them. When African countries will reach such level they will become less penetrable by foreign forces and influences. If we decide to remain together we must really come together

It seems like you are repeating many of the things you see here on nairaland. I dont remember seeing problems between fulanis and other cameroonians.
You are getting wrong when you say if it were not for the white men you would not have met them. But that is not the subject here.
Fulanis are conservative, you cant blame them for that. If they want to retain their culture, I dont see any problem with it. Afterall the nations that we will build whether continental or with the current states will surely be multiethnic. And if we want to retain our African culture, not cooy french or english, then we need to let people be who they are. What should be expected of everyone is respect or civic values that we share. You cant blame people for being conservative.
With that said, where do you take it that fulanis are violent in nature?

There are none, I told you I'm not worried about Fulani in Cameroon, however their brothers from the rest of Africa can influence them in a bad way...
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Omarbah: 6:05am On May 31, 2015
Sure forming a nation is good thing. But here are the few things you need to consider. First of all you talked about one language , one culture. In such a case, a dominant group will want to impose its way of doing things. Can you avert war? I dont think so and this will open you to attack. You certainly cannot impose a culture either as the identities are strong already. This is a problem that we face in Africa, specially west Africa where we are obliged to choose a foreign language and even foreign/ european culture as consensus just because we are obsessed with this idea of having a common thing.
Now imagine you have your nation. You wont be able to compete on your own. I mentioned Nigeria, Ethiopia and DRC because they are the ones with the size ( not just current numbers but also potential) and land mass to draw the resources needed to be able to compete with the rest of the world. Look at Germany, France, Spain, all of these advanced, industrialized states are trying to build a stronger union to protect their interests. This is what we need to move toward to, not micro nations. The case of the economic partnership agreement is a good one. Here is a trade deal that even Cameroonian entrepreneurs have denounced as dangerous for the country. The EU coerced Ecowas members and other states like Cameroon to sign it. The deal wants to remove tariffs for goods coming from the EU. This is a great disadvantage for young entrepreneurs trying to compete. And guess what, only Nigeria didnt sign it because they could afford to say NO to the EU, the rest had no choice otherwise the tariffs of their agricultural products would have increased. So you can see the danger looming. I am telling you, even those Europeans want to be united to compete with China, a stronger India and NAFTA.

Again it shows the negative influence of nairaland on some people. What other African brothers are you referring to? Be careful brother, dont believe everything you see here. In CAR our people got killed by the thousands, their stores, cattle , property destroyed, nobody moved a finger. France watched and didnt do much. Now the day they start defending themselves they will call fulanis violent.

As long as people are not talking about Fulani in a negative manner, I'm not too upset. But yah it's ridiculous at times.

these days its hard to mention or see the word "Fulani" in the papers without herdsman following.

since I was born, I have never read about Fulani herdmans in a positive light. all negative, this is not tribalism here, my good man, I am just curious as to why this is so.

i also heard that some,................wel lets call them Fulani, cos they cant be pure bred Fulani, reknowned for nobility......well i hear they sometimes, how can i say this.....well i heard that they engage in coitus with their cows when they are far from their settlement, they are noMads, you know?

pls i want you to read this with an open mind and clear all doubt, there must be others out there too who will like to know it its myth or reality.

lastly why are fulanis so aggressive and hot blooded, seems like they take a great delight in burning villages, according to the newspapers anyway, would appreciate your answers.

Ahidjo's body is in Senegal, he got other fulanis there too, so it is no biggy.
Why do you mistrust us? Lol what can we possibly do?

Fulani gatemen from chad and niger have been known to wake up, kill their landlords, leave his car, gold etc, just steal his pen and run back to niger/chad.

for no reason.

Let me ask you something. Is it true that some southern and central Nigerian eat human beings and sacrifice babies and familiy members for the sake of being wealthy? Real talk . I remember that horror house in Ibadan. Do you do it too?

The Muslims were the first to misbehave and as usual the rest of the community kept shut to only cry blue murder when the Christians started retaliating, besides Fulani weren't not specifically targeted.

Yes Nairaland, newspapers etc all play a role in our we see thing.

Are you serious? Muslims had been persecuted in CAR for a long time. Even having a job as a government worker was tough, same with identity cards with their nationality being questioned all of the time. Plus those fulani herdsmen didnt have anything to do with Seleka.
