Topfeed is no longer the feed I used to know. Their quality has dropped and the price is still high

Am thinking of changing my layers feed.

Dear House, please what should be the ideal space between two pens? i am starting the construction of 160 by 30 feet pen tomorrow and i want to know what space i shud maintained between this and the existing pen. I need the information ASAP. thank you all.
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 12:42pm On Jun 04, 2015
omotititi. I just checked my note for the info required. However, I couldn't lay my hands on it. Meanwhile, I believe what I have in there is that the distance between 2 pens (especially when the birds therein are of dissimilar ages) should be a minimum of 15 metres.

You will do well getting the Vaccination Schedule from the Hatchery supplying the birds. They are also in good position to tell you what drugs are best suited for their birds. if this is not possible, then check on past comments on this thread.

Great and productive weekend to all the young farmers here.

What Is The dimension of your pen in feet. From the picture, the space will be too small for 300 birds. You will xperience poor performance and high mortality.

What is the KG of your 100 birds that you raised on 18 bags (25kg?) feed. Feed constitutes a very high percentage of the cost that goes into raising your birds, so anything you can do to reduce the cost of the feed is very paramount to your profitability. So when you ran your number, how much did it cost you to raise each of your birds, e.g what did it come to per kg?
I sell to entries at N680/kg, it is an uphill battle with a lot of them because the big guys sells at N650/kg. But I am able to get away with N680 because of the uniqueness of my birds.

Now it has to be a game of numbers, if I making between N50-N100 per kg bird, then I need to move a whole bunch of those birds to stay in business. So, if you can mill your own feed, you can reduce the cost of production.
I hope this helps.
