fidelity has better rates than gtbank, so you can go with both cards i'm sure they'll be helpful, i'm sure euros too would have gone up just like dollars.

Ok,thanks alot

Hahaha. Thanks dear. All the $300 daily limit and money order problems made me do it. Cant shout.

Babe, thanks for adding to my trauma about chicago & secondary POE.. grin, will just feign a fainting spell if dem wahala too much!!!

If not for free board,occassional chauffeur, familiar faces & having locked down ticket & healthcare provider ages ago, I would have just made a U-turn to houston or phoenix!!

Na Psalm I go dey invoke on their heads..

@Happymum,
I have both GT & Fidelity cards & the GT card has been decommissioned since they've decided to price themselves out of the reach of the average Nigerian... Fidelity too is gradually getting on my nerves as well.

FBN should be ok, but I'm doing stanbic.

Moral of the story... hold your CASH strong! which CBP in his right senses will harass you with $15k? Please take cue from @obeezydabs look for cash in Nigeria even if it's to buy from black market, make it up to $10k plus. Declare it at POE, it's not a crime. It will favour you at POE and in paying ur bills, instead of this gobe I have found myself in.

My decision to go with stanbic is predicated on two factors.

1.Our last travel, @ walmart; my DH GT card was declined but his stanbic was accepted with no hiccup with a better fx rate, I made a few returns & he was credited same amount that was deducted unlike GT that will credit you @ their buy rate & "convince" you its the rate as at that particular sec/min/hr.

I hope with the above, I have been able to convince you & not confuse you that when on a budget GT is to wakaed from. wink

@nerf,
See ya mouth like $15k+ grin, no get money to dash abok1, na me & 6k dey show for that city, with my cards all join!!...

God go grant me favour, dem nor reach!! cool

Unless the restriction was issued today 3/6,then its that bank/branch cos I was in fidelity on monday(though did mine 2wks ago) & the cash officer was doing GBP transaction while I went for my PIN.

If that is the case then they need to expand the 300$ limit, to get 4k, you'd need to go to the atm 14 days straight!!!! haba.

Thank you Modath for this life saving information....I opened account with fidelity yesterday and today I'm smiling with my $4k PTA at 199.50..... I don't know where diamond,zenith and Uba in my state got their restriction from...

I used a money order instead, much easier cos you'll have to register your card first and that process is just long.
I had 2 letters of consent, 1 from me and 1 from my husband, same content though. Just say I, xxxxxxx (you can include your passport details) am the mother of xxxxxx (include date of birth and passport details) and i'm taking her back home. Please assist in processing her visa. And for you husband I, xxxxxxx, father of xxxxxxx hereby give consent to my wife xxxxxx to bring our daughter home. Something like that sha. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of our own letter, i'd have shared with you.

woaini:

Hi @ Shelly23 I intend to apply for the naija visa myself. 2 quick questions please
1. Did you use your Nigerian card to make visa fees payment, or did u use a us card if you have one or was it money order option you used?
2. I saw that both parents consent is required in writing, please what's the content of this letter (I mean a summary or format)?

Modath gtbank has showed me pepper and pepper with their exchange rates, I bought something worth £79 on amazon and they deducted 25065 and I found out what I was ordering wouldn't arrive in time even if I use prime so I asked for a refund and gtbank refunded 22k can you imagine, I called them to shepe for them they were now saying exchange rate has dropped and they only refund at bank exchange rate, since then my mind just left gtbank.

It's Personal travel allowance(PTA)

PTA - Personal Travel Allowance - $4,000 - For Individual accounts
BTA - Business Travel Allowance - $5,000 - for Corporates accounts

Thats the major difference, if you have an account in your business name you can access the BTA but if its a personal account then you go for the PTA.

Hello people, please does anyone in Lagos have a stroller (that can fitted to a Graco car seat) they're no longer using and won't mind selling (or dashing smiley).
I have to travel with my daughter and she's now too heavy for the baby carrier we normally travel with.

Its UK I know, I don't think US refunds taxes.

Anyone have an idea if US does?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by FinanceFitness: 9:38am On Jun 06, 2015
Yes, they do in some states. New york doesn't because they won't even VAT most purchases. But it is complicated unlike the UK. You can just google and you'll get the details for your area/ state.

This is not a form but a letter both parents have to write and send to the Nigerian embassy in addition to other documents to secure a visa for their child. Even if you are using an agent to get the visa you still have to write the letter, both parents. And no, it is not going to be notorised

There are only five states in the US that don't levy sales tax, which the seller collects at the point of purchase. They are;

Alaska
Delaware
Montana
New Hampshire
Oregon

New york's sales tax is only exempted on some stuff less than a specific amount.

VAT is not even a US thing,its mostly Euro.
